This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by ten readers including Grand Canyon and other interesting erosion features, South African elephants, and my current camp view.
Susie chose #8765. If you walk away from a main viewpoint in any national park, this from the North Rim Grand Canyon, you get a different perspective. Bonus was the fall colors.
Rita chose #7777. This time a South Rim perspective of the Grand Canyon. My favorite this week.
Doris chose #3022. An incredible viewpoint called Fonts Point in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, California.
Cathy chose #5817. Not too far north of Kanab, Utah SR89 crosses Kanab Creek.
Diane and Nigel chose #2512. These hoodoos in Snake Gulch are seen on the North Kaibab National Forest.
Jodee and Bill chose #1207. The Vista Encantada overlook on the North Rim looks east beyond the Grand Canyon almost 100 miles to Navajo Mountain in the far distance.
Sherry chose #5376. She’s a magnet for ocean views. This was just before sunset over the Indian Ocean in South Africa.
Yogi and Random dot org chose #7975. I could watch elephants all day long. And that would be pretty easy to do at Addo Elephant National Park, South Africa.
Jeff chose #1228, “the date the SoCal lockdown is scheduled to be lifted.” I think that date might have been rescheduled. Yet there is hope. Like the growth of this tiny Arizona Oak tree that will someday provide shade.
Mark chose #2020. The Drakensburg Mountains in South Africa are lush green because of the storms. I hiked there in 2010 and was drenched by a rain storm.
The last photo I took in 2020 from my newest camp Plomosa of what I believe is Quartzsite after sunset.

Happy New Year Gaelyn. At last I managed a number which is of a Grand Canyon photo.Love the one of that beautiful sunset, but my favourite for this week are those lovely elephants at the Addo Nat Park Take care and have a great day. No 9218 for next week please.
Welcome to the next decade. I have so many pics of the canyon your chances are good. This post was loaded. Elephants aren’t bad either. #9218 for next week.
Impossible to pick a favourite this week, each photos is a 5*. The elephants though just might get a slightly longer look if it is possible. 101 for next week please

Thanks. Not sure they are all wonderful but I have 100s of 1000s of photos. #2021 for next week.
Happy New Year! Looking forward to another year of wonderful photos. #7639 for next week please
Thanks. Me too. #7639 for next week.
What amazing photos to recap your year, Gaelyn. I came by to say Happy 2021. May it bring you great adventures, lots of photo opportunities, and (of course) good health!
Thanks. Welcome to a new decade.
Gaelyn, Happy New Year, be safe, and hope 2021 will be better all around. As always, I really enjoy your photography and the stories behind them.
Thank you so much George.
I liked the photo of the Drakensburg mountains, reminded me so much of the Highway 58 pass over the southernmost edge of the Sierras near Tehachapi, a route we take often to get to the desert. Then again, Font’s Point is beautiful in any light. Will have to go back maybe this year and check it out again.
I’ve driven that Hwy 58 but not when so green looking.
So many great pictures again. I particularly like the elephants of course and Fonts Point. Both are great pictures.. Anza-Borrego is a place I really want to visit. I wonder when things will be even close to normal again so I can. I’ll take 120 for the day I hope our future will be come brighter.
Thanks. I’m hoping next winter will be better for travel. #120 for next week.
So many lovely mountains, such dramatic variations!! The elephants are delightful..
#3205 for next week please.
Thanks. I love mountains as much as deserts. And elephants… #3205 for this week.
You were right!, the SoCal lockdown will continue indefinitely! Favorite this week would be the colors of the Grand Canyon – Rita picked a winner, altho Font’s Point is always special.
For next week I’d like 0204, the new tentative opening of Anza Borrego State Park.
Thanks. I knew you’d like to see Fonts Pt. Crossing fingers for that new date. #0204 for next week.
The hoodoos and the elephants are my favorites (I could look at your elephant *pictures* all day!) but all are great as always. Could I have 120 next time? That is when we are really celebrating a New Year. … I was kind of down with the blahs for the past couple of weeks, just lost my will to do anything. So I didn’t visit or comment. I think just the dark and cold and weird vibes from the times. But I’m better and I’m back.bHappy New Year!
Thanks. I could look at elephants for days too. Sorry to hear about your case of the blues. It’s been a rough year. #120 for next week.
Have I ever told you I love your pics of the desert southwest?? Well I do.
Wishing you a happy and healthy New Year.
My old laptop decided to die so I had to go buy a new one so I am little behind. Talk about sticker shock all this work from home and school at home as really jacked up the prices.
Thank you. Those desert pics are fun to take and share.
Wonderful photos, Gaelyn. I love the elephant shot. For next week, #6666
Thanks. I love the elephants. #6666 for this week.
