Hermanus is a whale town.

The Southern Right Whales come to South Africa between May and December to mate and calf and are the most frequently seen in Walker Bay.

Being I was there at the wrong time of the year I settled with watching a very interesting slide show with artwork by Noel Ashton.

Shopping for Flagstaff Buys

Sterling silver jewelry
Berta and I spent a bit of time shopping in Flagstaff. At an antique store I found some nice deals on the above jewelry plus a thimble. Every time I buy sterling I call it my retirement.

Four charm bracelets make a necklace
The little tower below the thimble is a charm of Desert View Tower located on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. One of the charm bracelets belonged to my maternal grandmother, one to my Mom, and two are mine. I’ve been collecting since I was a kid.

The wall mount mirror is for the camper and was made in Japan. Got that, plus some clothes, at the Goodwill weigh and pay where most everything costs about $1 per pound.

Tevas & a micro towel for traveling
In old town there are at least four outdoor sporting goods stores. I was in need of new sandals. The towel will be perfect for backpacking and my trip to South Africa.
