This week’s Foto Friday Fun includes 7 images chosen by readers picking a number out of my photo archives.

Arija chose #400, “the mid-way number of those you offered.”  I know that Arija loves to watch birds but doesn’t see snow very often.  So here’s a combination of a snowy bird dance in my Yarnell yard December 15, 2012.  I’m hoping Not to see this again this year.  The snow part that is.

Bibi chose #555, “for no reason.”  No reason to turn down this barely singed property deal in the boulders of Glen Ilah Yarnell.  Well, except for having no money.  Plus there’s no utilities. But if you like rocks…

Yogi chose #300, “Because that is the dividing line between good and great hitter’s batting averages in baseball.”  Don’t know about baseball, but when rafting the Colorado River floating under the Navajo Bridge has to be some kind of dividing line.  I haven’t done the upper river, yet, but a fellow Ranger was on one of these boats while I was on the bridge.

Jo chose #799.  Now this shot is from my rafting adventure on the Colorado River.  Even though I’ve crossed the river by foot several times I usually am looking down from the North Rim.  I think being engulfed by the canyon walls while on the river is an experience everyone should do.

Sherry chose #127 and she’s a tree hugger, but maybe not with these charred snags from the 2006 Warm Fire along the road from Jacob Lake to the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park.  The new saplings are too small to obscure the view of the Vermilion Cliffs to the northeast of the Kaibab Plateau.

Diane chose #111, “for no particular reason.”  So, for no particular reason she gets to see a family of Blue Wildebeest in the morning light at Kruger National Park in South Africa.

MaryBeth chose #900, a Rainbow skink also seen at Kruger National Park where fascinating animals come in all sizes.

My choice this week shows one of my neighbor’s many cats enjoying a scratch on a burnt tree.

This week’s Foto Friday Fun includes 9 images chosen by readers picking a number out of my photo archives.  All their choices come from Arizona.

Jo chose #299, “for no reason at all.”  I have reasons for taking so many photos to jog my memory when sharing stories. Guess I’m a visual kind of gal.  Even while driving I like to document the journey.  Like driving home from Prescott towards the familiar Weaver Mountains of my backyard.

Firefly chose #281, “just because that is where the numbers fell.”  Well that number falls into Grand Canyon and beyond to the plains of the Navajo Reservation.  This eastern view is from the Upper Ken Patrick trail on the North Rim.

Yogi chose #300, “Splitting the difference. I am a professional negotiator and I never ever split the difference. So this time I can do that.”  Do you think these two were negotiating or splitting the difference?  Mule deer are seen frequently here in Yarnell.

Barb chose #356, “For no particular reason.”  Seems to be a lot of that going around.  Another view of the Weaver Mountains but this time from below in Congress, Arizona.  I live at the top, where the desert breeze meets the mountain air.

Sallie chose #400, “because somebody else is already first I might as well be last.”  This is probably the last time I’ll get lucky enough for such an intimate shot.

Diane chose #333, “just because I like it for some odd reason.”  For some odd reason I really like to take back road trips where the scenery is usually worth the bumps along the way.  And this drive on the Wagner Road provided some awesome views over the rolling ranch lands just north of where I winter.

MaryBeth chose #316, “the road I live on in Stanwood.”  Sorry, Diane got the road picture.  I am so thankful that Mom’s old rocker along with the doily she knitted and stuffed dog she made, –I grew up with a dachshund—were in the RV and not in the shed that burned in the Yarnell Fire.

Elaine chose #277.  Javelinas are regularly seen around Yarnell most often towards dusk.  The water I put out for the birds attracts them into my yard.

Arija also chose #300.  One of my only, almost successful, night shots taken as the moon rose from my Toroweap campsite.  I really need to work on more night sky photography.

My choice this week is not from Arizona.  This view from the Gydo Pass looks down on the valley where I stayed at Rhodene Farm in South Africa.  Because I LOVE to drive mountain roads my host recommended this short drive to the top.  After stopping to enjoy the view I headed back down and on my way.

This week’s Foto Friday Fun includes 9 images chosen by readers picking a number out of my photo archives.  Last week I asked for a number that would correspond to one of the 1302 posts published since the launch of the originally Geogypsy on blogspot five years ago.  If you missed it there’s a link in the #1 choice below.

Jo chose #1025, the date of the day she left her comment.  These cloud shadows on the Vermilion Cliffs were a driving shot on my way to the North Rim in April 2012.  Sure felt good to be that close to home after the trials and towing of that unforgettable journey.

Firefly chose #1302 which is from a most recent post about Birds of Eden.  I noticed several commenters didn’t agree when I say I’m not a birder.  Well, maybe I am.  I would most certainly return to spend more time here.

Sherry chose #1111, more photos from the road, and sometimes the best views are behind us.  Thus an entire post dedicated to views in the side mirror.

Yogi chose #15 taking us back to 2008 when I was getting dental work done in Algadones, Mexico.  A very colorful place.

Arija chose #1248, “the year the building of Cologne cathedral started. Although a bomb destroyed the apse in the raid that flattened the rest of the city in WW II, the pilots all aimed at this magnificent gothic cathedra but obviously, an angel’s wing protected it.”  I felt protected by the giant Mushroom Rock that rose behind camp at Golden Gate Highlands National Park in South Africa.

Sallie chose #208 a meme post for Remember Whensday which takes us back to my teenage years on Christmas 1970.  Our dog Adolph unwraped his football present and was ready to play.  These old scanned photos don’t look very good but still bring back the memories.

Diane chose #555 from the Scenic Sunday meme showing just one of many Grand Canyon views from Crazy Jug Point.  Being that’s one of my favorite places to camp along the rim there are a lot more images from there.

MaryBeth chose #1 because, “I want to be first—someday in my lifetime.”  OMG, this is my very first post and nobody even commented on it.  I was a total newbie just finishing up my first season Rangering at Grand Canyon as I introduced myself to the cyber world.  If you don’t already know me you might want to check this one out.  And could you leave a comment please?

Melissa chose #8, “for the windows 8 that is currently making me crazy on the new computer!!”  Still early in my blogging this post went out at the end of my first season when leaving Grand Canyon for the winter.  I was, and still am, entranced by the fall aspen with their glittering coins of gold.

I have enjoyed, and sometimes agonized, over every 1,306 posts—including this one.  I love to share the places I work and play, seeing your (virtual) smile makes my day.  The same is true for me as a Park Ranger seeing the smile of visitors when they look into the Grand Canyon.  Or maybe the light bulb going off over their head when they see a condor and know it for what it is because they attended a Ranger talk and learned how to identify the difference between a turkey vulture and a condor.  Yet the best for me was finding this note one night before a campfire program.
