This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by 11 readers including cool rock formations, South African wildlife, and a very old car.
Yogi chose #828. At Bryce we call rocks similar to this hoodoos, but they’re toadstools in the Grand Staircase.
Jim and Diana chose #109. Used to drive this forest road across Clearwater Valley, and partially through the blast zone, as a shortcut from Windy Ridge when a Ranger at Mt St Helens National Volcanic Monument during 1992.
Jo chose #7250. A scene she may recognize. In South Africa the clouds pouring over mountains is referred to as a table cloth. This view of that phenomenon was seen heading south on the N12 to Oudtshoorn.
Yogi’s second choice this week is #821. The view southeast across Trancept Canyon to temples and beyond was taken from the Widforss Trail on the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park.
Rita chose #7983. The crescent moon and Venus was seen in Yarnell, 3-21-15.
Jeff chose #1919, “the year the first passenger train arrived in San Diego over the impossible Railroad.” So even though the image number is 850 this 1919 form of transportation came up. Saw this Ford Model T in the Galpin Ford showroom in Prescott.
Cathy chose #1104. Still quite a bit of snow along SR67 to the North Rim Grand Canyon when I drove in 4-30-10.
Diane and Nigel chose #1007. Animals they’ve seen in southern Africa and I saw in Kruger National Park.
Doris chose #8357. Saw these South African Shelducks at Mountain Zebra National Park during my 2014 visit.
Sallie and Bill chose #712, “our oldest son’s birthday.” Flowers always make a nice gift but I don’t know what kind these are. Berta grew flowers around her house and could name them all. I’m guessing Sallie may know too.
Sherry chose #7152. Artistically carved sandstone by the power of water seen in Upper Buckskin Gulch during a crazy warm July hike in Utah.
My choices: While searching for the above #109 this 1094 from 9-20-10 caught my eye taken in Bryce Canyon. And you’ve probably seen this version of #7152 from 9-6-14 that always makes me smile. How can we go wrong with a double rainbow over Roaring Springs Canyon seen from the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park.
