This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by 10 readers including the Arizona strip, Grand Canyon, and several dramatic skies.

Jim and Diana chose #1949, “the time of tomorrows SpaceX Crew1 launch to the ISS.”  And he got some interesting shots of that event.  Which I wouldn’t have seen with a sky like this one over Grand Canyon 8-28-10.

Cathy chose #6214.  Another interesting sky at Grand Canyon as fog circled around Wotans Throne at Cape Royal on the North Rim 8-13-14.

Doris chose #1113.  Some lighter weight clouds but still casting shadows on the Vermilion Cliffs seen along SR89A 4-30-10.

Lisa chose #4568.  A cloudless sunset over Dome Rock Mountains north of Quartzsite, Arizona from my 1-24-15 camp.

Yogi chose #954.  This western view along SR89 in southern Utah runs on the edge of the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument 4-17-09.

Jo chose #3005.  The Badlands, as seen from Fonts Point Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, look other worldly under a California sunset.

Diane and Nigel chose #1311.  Easy to see why this is called the Painted Desert in northern Arizona.

Sallie and Bill chose #312.  These are modern reproduction knapped arrowheads made by a friend.

Sue chose #1962 by default of her comment last week.  This shot was taken one minute after the first photo posted.

Rita chose #8930.  This lovely bouquet of lilacs were a birthday present from Berta.  The scent snaps me back to childhood playing under a hedge of lilacs in Illinois.

My choice, carefully peeking into a large Beavertail cactus to see a bird nest that had eggs last spring when I camped in Congress.

This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by 11 readers including rock and water, dirty-window shots, and me over many years.

Jennifer chose #1511.  I might have used this cropped shot as a profile picture back when taken in 2009 at the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park.

Cathy chose #1211.  Iris were always an early sign of spring when living in Yarnell, Arizona.  This shot from 4-24-09.

Doris chose #9135.  The sandstone formations in Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness are a spectacular example of dunes frozen in time and beautiful at every turn.  Just around the corner to the left is the famous Wave that requires a permit to get this far.

Diane and Nigel chose #611.  The Box Canyon Dwelliing remains in Wupatki National Monument.  This stonework is only about 1000 years old and fallen apart without constant maintenance by the native people who built them.  No comparison to some of the even older buildings she shares from France.

Yogi chose #4460, one of four in a panorama.  Low tide on the Atlantic Ocean at West Coast National Park in Langebaan, South Africa taken 3-15-13.

Rita chose #3146.  Sunset view through a dirty RV window where I lived while working at the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park during summer 2015.

Lisa chose #290.  Another dirty window shot, this time doggy art, looking up stream at Lake Powell behind Glen Canyon Dam near Page Arizona.  I believe the “bath-tub ring” is even lower now than this 2008 shot.

Sherry chose #9999.  The view east at sunset of the Kofa Mountains from my Kings Valley camp on the Kofa National Wildlife Refugee, Arizona 2-12-18.

Jeff chose #46 “to honor our nations 46th POTUS.”  Although this shot of me is from 1955, I am giddy with happiness.

Sallie and Bill got #92 for the number of words from their comment.  Hey look, seven years later and I’m still smiling.

Susie chose #0121 for the day we welcome the new POTUS to the White House.  I hope it’s not soiled like this almost white door frame housing a Redwinged Starling family where we went almost daily for iced passion fruit while visiting Pilanesberg Game Reserve in South Africa.

My first choice is the sunrise view from my camp a couple weeks ago at Snowbird Mesa.

And, because I finally got a most wonderful haircut from my favorite Yarnell beautician, you get to look at my mug once again.

This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by 11 readers including Arizona Strip with the Grand Canyon and my favorite cookie place, the Kgalagadi, and a much younger me in a skort.

Jim and Diana chose #270.  My first summer working on the North Rim Grand Canyon even before opening in May 2008 I was out exploring near the park and discovered the observation area along House Rock Valley Road and below the Condor release site located on top of the Vermilion Cliffs.  Public Lands Day in September there is a public release so those interested in the Condor recovery program can watch them fly into their new wild home skies.

Cathy chose #4325.  While exploring southeastern Utah with a friend in October, 2015 we ended up in Hanksville and looked up the BLM office he used to work at.

Jeff chose #1111, for Veteran’s Day (Nov 11) when the DOI will begin free entrance to all the fee areas it manages for ALL veterans.  This snowy scene might look like November but was actually taken April 30, 2010 on my way to the North Rim Grand Canyon for the summer season.

Lisa chose #22, a scanned print taken in Downers Grove, Illinois during the summer of 1970.  Yea, that’s me, and I’m wearing a skort.  Do you know what that is?

Yogi chose #8860.  One of many large mammals in South Africa.  This Red Hartebeest was seen in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park during March 2014.

Diane and Nigel chose #3110.  The 2014 4th of July water parade at the North Rim brought out Uncle Sam with a vintage truck carrying a huge barrel of water to soak people down.

Rita chose #1498.  Cape Royal will always be a favorite place for sunsets, and all views, on the North Rim Grand Canyon.  This shot from 9-14-09.

Sherry forgot a number (she’s at the beach) so I gave her #148 for the number of words in her comment.  From my previous 5th-wheel, this eastern window view while camphosting at Cave Creek on the Siskiyou National Forest when I was also working as a Park Ranger at Oregon Caves National Monument during summer 2007.

Susie chose #3135.  Trees are so resilient growing out of rocky environments like this limestone along the Bright Angel Point trail on the North Rim Grand Canyon.

Doris chose #9002.  This point of entry was where we entered Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park to camp at Twee Rivieren.  This would also be where one checked in to leave South Africa and enter Namibia, or in reverse.  But we didn’t leave the country.  Maybe next time.

Sallie and Bill chose #1005, a panorama.  Jacob Lake Inn sits at the junction of SR89A and SR67 into the North Rim.  I’ve bought many pieces of native jewelry here and always stop for the worlds best cookies.

My choice of Sierra in the truckcamper now that we are back on the road.

And a spare shot I saw while searching for your numbers.  Because Arizona voted blue, and green.
