This week’s Foto Friday Fun includes 10 images chosen by readers featuring elephants, tall South African grasses, and the Bryce Canyon welcoming committee.

Jo chose #5103 “an amount in my booking documents which I cannot reconcile.”  Hope that problem is solved, or maybe I could send some elephant help her way.  Of course an animal she knows from her home country of South Africa.  This shot from Kruger National Park taken 2-19-14.

Alan chose #3170.  He likes trees and photographs them all the time so should appreciate this shot showing mistletoe in a Mesquite tree seen along Palm Canyon trail in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park California 1-8-15.  Sadly, mistletoe usually kills its host eventually.

Rita chose #7776.  A water hole is one of the best places to watch wildlife while on safari in South Africa, or anywhere for that matter if you have patience.  This shot taken 3-7-14 in Addo Elephant National Park.

Diane and Nigel chose #904.  This shot of Lake Powell from spring 2009 is the fullest I’ve seen the reservoir since then.  With decades of drought the lake is currently down 135 feet from full pool.

Cathy chose #0008.  A significant highlight of making photos was shooting the annular solar eclipse from the North Rim Grand Canyon on 5-20-12.

Lisa chose #1640.  The Drakensburg Mountains in South Africa are lush and green due to the rain and snow fall.  Though did manage to stay dry on the Sterkspruit Falls trail in March 2010.

Jeff chose #8205, “regular season games my Padres finally became the last team to pitch a no-hitter.”  Different kind of games going on with these youngsters at Addo Elephant National Park a couple days after the above shot.

Jodee and Bill chose #1739.  An artsy shot from the Drakensburgs.

Doris chose #6857.  I love these kinds of curvy drives through southern Utah redrocks.  What better than through the Cockscomb along SR89 between Kanab and Page, Arizona taken 7-21-15.

Sallie and Bill chose #818.  The Widforss Trail, a favorite, on the North Rim is mostly forested with peaking views of Grand Canyon.

My choice for Foto Friday Fun, the welcoming committee wasn’t paying much attention to me on the final drive to my RV site at Bryce Canyon.

This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by 12 readers including lots of wildlife, places on the Arizona Strip, and little ole me.

Cathy chose #4587.  Breath of the dragon.  A fog filled view of Grand Canyon typically disappoints visitors to the park.  However, when working as a Park Ranger I saw many moods at the canyon and knew the fog would lift eventually.  This shot taken from Cape Royal on the North Rim 8-3-14.

Lisa chose #68, “for the number of miles we paddled last week while the wind was blowing against us.”  Spike never seemed bothered by wind in his sunken enclosure at the California Living Museum in Bakersfield, California where I was a volunteer animal keeper in 1989.  Believe it or not, porcupines have noses soft as velvet.

Jo chose #7870.  Maybe she can identify this bird is I saw at Addo Elephant National Park in her homeland of South Africa.

Yogi chose #7975.  An attempt at night photography in Yarnell, Arizona.  Can you see the crescent moon and Venus over the Weaver Mountains?

Sherry chose #4010, “since I get my second COVID shot in 8 days.”  Don’t think these playful zebras and giraffes were running to get a vaccination in Kruger National Park, South Africa.

Diane and Nigel chose #204.  This might have been my first visit to Zion National Park in 2008 and the shot was taken while on the Riverside Walk along the Virgin River.

Jennifer chose #862.  More zebras, getting rather frisky, seen at Kruger National Park, South Africa during my first visit in March 2010.

Rita chose #2218.  A colorful sunset over the Weaver Mountains from my Yarnell, Arizona home in 2018.

Doris chose #5000.  A city park in Kanab, Utah from when I lived there in 2015.

Sallie and Bill chose #46, “for our oldest great-grandson’s birthday.”  It wasn’t my birthday at 1 1/2-years old in 1955.

Jodee and Bill chose #556.  This dry wash is the first part of the Wire Pass trail that leads to the Buckskin Gulch Slot Canyon trail in southern Utah from the first time I hiked it in 2009.

Jeff chose #156, “the combined score as Baylor dominated Gonzaga.”  Is he talking in an ancient language?  LOL!  Because these buildings are rather old seen at Lee’s Ferry along the Colorado River in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, Arizona.  This is where I’d planned to camp last night, but it was full.

My choice was taken recently along Iron Springs Road between Kirkland and Prescott, Arizona.  I’ve seen this nest for years but it was the first time I saw a Redtail hawk there.

I seem to be running behind along my journey northward to Bryce Canyon.  Not that I’m late getting back to work, but I drove over five hours yesterday and was too exhausted last night to get this post out.  But what the heck, it’s still Friday.

This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by 11 readers including mostly national parks (no surprise) like Death Valley, Grand Canyon, Canyonlands, Zion, and throw in a game preserve in South Africa.

Jim and Diana chose #326, “for the birthday girl.”  This girl likes to take photos while driving (don’t judge, I’m careful) and include what’s behind.  From November 2009 in a different truck and camper in Death Valley National Park driving north towards the Black Mountains while looking back on the Badwater Road.

Cathy chose #0922.  A favorite place to camp and watch storms over Grand Canyon, Crazy Jug Point on the Kaibab National Forest.

Doris chose #9752.  Lots of birds, like this Pied Kingfisher, seen at the large lake called Mankwe Dam in Pilanesberg Game Reserve, South Africa.

Jennifer also chose #326.  From Bright Angel Point on the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park, Rangers get paid in sunsets.

Diane and Nigel chose #2603.  Yet another sunset from the North Rim Grand Lodge with the San Francisco Peaks on the far horizon.

Yogi let random dot org chose #3539.  A dirty windshield shot in the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park, Utah during a way too fast road trip in September 2015.

Jeff chose #0329, the day a friend starts volunteering at Toroweap.  Different park, this is a return to Death Valley during the February 2016 Super bloom.

Sherry chose #3271.  Nice to see a little water while walking the Palm Canyon trail in Anza=Borrego Desert State Park, California in January 2015.

Rita chose #7771.  This view brought to you by the 2006 Warm Fire on the North Kaibab National Forest.  With the Paria Plateau to the left, House Rock Valley below, Echo Cliffs beyond to the east and in the far distance Navajo Mountain.

Sallie and Bill chose #2000, the first winter they spent in Arizona.  Hopefully they visited Zion National Park in southern Utah where this shot was taken from the shuttle when Pat visited in 2014.
