This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by 12 readers including real, rock, and metal animals, plus narrow canyons, and cloudy South African mountains.
Diane and Nigel chose #2105. I had to hunt just a bit for this large rock snake in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, California on Christmas day, 2014.
Yogi chose #2026, a two shot panorama. A summer hike in the South African Drakensberg Mountains brought heavy rain but it was warm enough to be comfortable as long we weren’t hit by lightning.
Lisa chose #1952. A reverse sunset looking upstream at Tuweep on the North Rim Grand Canyon.
Jo and random dot org chose #4235. A Blue Wildebeest seen in Kruger National Park South Africa.
Jennifer chose #4100. Seen earlier on the same day as above, not uncommon to catch lions sleeping on the warm pavement in the morning.
Rita chose #1198. This huge ant hill, about two feet across, in Berta’s driveway in Yarnell, Arizona intrigued me forever. It even came back after the 2012 fire. I love to watch ants. Am I crazy for that?
Sue chose #5921, “for the date of my second COVID shot.” Being she just visited “Crack in the Ground” in Oregon she might appreciate another crack called Bull Valley Gorge taken along the Skutumpah Road in Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument, Utah.
Jeff chose 1140, “the time Fran arrives back from Ohio.” And this shot is the time I put my life in somebody’s driving hands to ride in a dry wash to Antelope Canyon and tour the slot there.
Cathy chose #3406. A Tapir metal sculpture by Ricardo Breceda at Galleta Meadows in Borrego Springs, California, not far from the first shot of the rock snake, and only one of many sculptures.
Jodee and Bill chose #637. A delightful hike into Buckskin Gulch slot canyon in southern Utah. My favorite this week.
Sherry chose 8576. A view from the South Rim’s Moran Point at Grand Canyon National Park where I spent my birthday in 2015 with a friend. Not the first time I spent there for a birthday.
Sallie and Bill chose #1230. From last year, a look across Bryce Canyon’s main amphitheater over the hoodoos towards the high Inspiration Point overlook.
My choice, taken with the new phone, from the town of Panguitch about 30 minutes from Bryce where I went for my second Moderna COVID shot last Monday.
