This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by 12 readers including canyons, plants, rivers, and a partial eclipse.

Cathy chose #0532.  During training before the 2015 season began at the North Rim Grand Canyon staff went to the South Rim and I saw this view of marble Canyon.

Doris chose #693.  My first visit to a slot canyon in May 2009 blew me away as I entered Wire Pass on the the way to Buckskin Gulch Canyon, Utah.

Lisa chose #6935.  The blooms on this Forest White Sugarbush were at least 4” across.  Just one of many colors of Protea I saw traveling in South Africa.

Wanda chose #8630.  Another South Rim view of Grand Canyon from Desert View Watchtower when celebrating my birthday with a friend.  Would have loved that Raven’s view soaring over the Colorado River.

Jodee and Bill chose #1944.  Visiting Zion National Park with Pat, we walked along the Virgin River.

Gypsy chose #69, “ a great year for music to me.”  1984 was a great year for me and my arts and crafts store.  Not like I made money at it, but sure was fun to work on my stained-glass craft, knit, crochet, help sell other people’s creations, and paint the storefront window for special occasions like this for our Founder’s Day Rodeo and parade in Tonasket, Washington.

Diane and Nigel chose #309.  I saw these cocoons in the Quaking Aspen my first season working at the North Rim Grand Canyon in June 2008.  Turns out they are full of Western Tent Caterpillars that turn to moths.

Jo chose #7275, “courtesy of random dot org.”  My January 2016 winter window view while staying at Crazy Horse RV Park in Kanab, Utah prompted me to plan for a warmer climate in southern Arizona.

Sue got #0090 from her last comment about visiting the Coral Pink Sand Dunes in the 90s when it was a quiet place.  It was almost eerily quiet during the Partial Annular Eclipse I watched from the North Rim Grand Canyon on 5-20-12.

Alan chose #6093.  These sweet little mushrooms caught my eye while walking the Suspension Bridge trail in Tsitsikamma National Park, South Africa.

Rita chose #777.  A Grand Canyon perspective from rafting on the Colorado River approaching Lava Falls Rapid.

Sallie and Bill chose #0001.  Look closely for the Heron in this Tecopa, California wetland located near to Death Valley National Park.

My choice from Doris’ number 693 because I wanted to process it.  I love clouds and storms so monsoon season during July 2009 afforded many opportunities for awesome skies.  This storm cell moved north behind Sky Island over the Grand Canyon as seen from Walhalla Overlook on the North Rim’s Cape Royal Road.

Jennifer chose #8888.  Freyas Castle and the Vishnu Temple as seen from Walhalla overlook on the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park.

Jeff chose #3301, “the number of your next post.”  Which was the last post.  And there was also a post about hiking to the Palm grove in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, California.  A place Jeff visits often.

Doris chose #9752.  Sandstone at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park, Utah.

TreDeuce chose #1113.  Flowering Brittlebush seen on a hike in the Weaver Mountains near my old stomping grounds in Yarnell, Arizona.

Sue chose #924, “for the day that we plan to drive from Blanding to Newspaper Rock and the Needles.”  Yet another visit to Coral Pink Sand Dunes, one in a three shot panorama.  And a bonus of me at the dunes.

Wanda chose #1254.  My second season 2009 at the North Rim Grand Canyon, the meadows outside the park on the national forest where snow was melting.  Never knew what to expect on that April drive before the park was open.

Diane and Nigel chose #2808.  They are currently on holiday at the shore but have taken holiday at Grand Canyon where this shot was taken of a cloud filled canyon.

Jo chose #2500, “an amount I won in a radio competition this evening! Very exciting.”  I guess.  Congrats to her.  Not quite as exciting was this presunset blast of sunrays in front of the Vallecito Mountains in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, California seen 12-30-14.

Cathy chose #2170.  Note the 3 million year old lava flow to the right that stopped the Colorado River as seen from Tuweep overlook Grand Canyon National Park.

Jodee and Bill chose #9955.  This Marsh terrapin was begging for food at the bird hide in Pilanesberg Game Reserve, South Africa.  Bonus shot because I liked it was my RV window view at the North Rim Grand Canyon taken 7-23-08.

Gypsy asked for a sunset.  With many thousands to choose from I tried for the oldest though there are many missing years.  Just so happens this shot was taken in the town of Congress where she lives 3-21-06, so let’s see if she can identify from where.  Then I dug deeper and the oldest I could find from 1974, probably an Instamatic camera print later scanned.  A magnificent sunset from where I grew up in Downers Grove, Illinois.  A actually climbed out my bedroom window, walked carefully across the decorative balcony, and maneuvered onto the garage roof including over the peak and sat watching this show for what seemed like hours.

Rita chose #0196.  Probably bought during the first thrift store run of fall 2014 with Berta.  I collect sterling silver jewelry and call it my retirement, but not sure that means I’m ready to part with any of it yet.

Alan chose #8226.  This pair appeared amorous at Addo Elephant National Park, South Africa.

Sallie and Bill chose #555.  This dry wash is the Wirepass Trail to Buckskin Gulch slot canyon on the Utah/Arizona border.

While searching for sunsets I came upon this shot of Ranger me first season at the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park from 7-23-08.

This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by 11 readers including lots of Southwest rock, and this is my 3300th post, that’s a whole lot of words and pictures.

Sherry chose #9121, “for the day I have to leave Vermont.”  Hope she’s not leaving because it will snow, something I don’t want to see anytime soon.  This was my RV window view over the cemetery while living at Crazy Horse RV Park in Kanab, Utah during the winter of 2015/2016.

Diane and Nigel chose #2008, one of a seven shot panorama.  White Pocket in Vermilion Cliffs National Monument, a fairyland of sandstone.  In 2008 I put together the other image as a birthday card to a friend from high school days.  Sadly, he is currently in assisted living while dying of cancer.

Jeff chose #2625, “the street address of Fran’s childhood home, where we are now settled for a couple weeks.”  I doubt this ranch even has a street address and I could settle there for a while, especially if they’d leave the old truck and it runs.  Saw this when driving out of the Toroweap overlook 9-28-10.  How about that raised deck?

Jodee and Bill chose #3511.  The Needles District in Canyonlands National Park, another fairyland landscape.  All of Utah could be a national park, but I don’t think the locals would like it.  Visited way too briefly in September 2015 and really need to return.

Rita chose #3019.  Smokey Bear riding in the 2014 4th of July water parade at the North Rim Grand Canyon.

Cathy chose #1493.  My favorite place to watch sunset on the North Rim Grand Canyon, Cape Royal overlook at the end of their scenic drive.  This from 9-14-09, my second season as a Park Ranger there.

Gypsy asked for #Moon as she’d just watched the last full moon rise.  This may have been similar to her view.  Taken in Congress 2-11-06 of the moon over the Weaver Mountains, Arizona.

Jo chose #8915, “being the commission I paid to the owner of the big house which I manage for holiday accommodation.”  Sorry no commission, but hoping for a translation.  Seen in her home country of South Africa while visiting Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park during March 2014.

Doris chose #557.  Won’t be long before the Quaking Aspen will turn yellow.  In fact I saw a little color Tuesday on Bryce’s scenic drive.  This shot was taken on the North Kaibab Plateau 10-12-11.

Alan and random dot org chose #2884.  A different view from Cape Royal in mid afternoon with clouds dancing around Wotan’s Throne.

Sallie and Bill chose #9999, a very popular number so also a recent photo.  From January 2020, my Darby Well camp view of Black Mountain backdropping lots of Saguaro cactus.

My choice, the bumper rocks from my last camp in the Dixie National Forest of Utah.
