This week’s Foto Friday Fun includes 7 images chosen by readers picking a number out of my photo archives. Thanks for the memories.
Jo chose #9500 because she had 9500 in “Tanzania Shillings on my desk at the moment (I’m doing the cash recon for the Guest House expenses, ewgh!) The value isn’t much; about US$5.90!” I’m sure Jo’s choice this week is as familiar as counting shillings. I understand that Jock of the Bushveld was required reading for all school children in South Africa. A wonderful story about a man and his devoted dog. I bought the only version I could find, a children’s book, plus the movie on DVD as well.
Lu_Gerda chose #1226 “because that is the current time in South Africa.” Anytime is good to walk in the Weaver Mountains when I’m at my winter home in Yarnell. I love to watch the Turkey Vultures soar over the boulders in those mountains.
Arija chose #5693, “the year my father, whom I lost when I was four and the Russians sent him to Siberia.” I know she’s been feeling a little dark lately but after the storm comes fresh air and rainbows. At least that’s what I see after a storm at Grand Canyon.
Sherry chose #623 for the “phone pad numbers for the letter MAD which is how I feel about blogger not showing my blog on any of my commenter’s blogrolls.” I know she’s since solved this problem so hope her blue mood has improved. I saw this marvelous almost Caribbean blue water from Havasu Creek flow into a muddy Colorado River while on a rafting trip.
Bill chose #1017. I believe he’s a new reader here and discovered he’s a sustainable farmer and student of theology at White Flint Farm in Washington State. Sounds like a healthy combination. Sure hope he enjoys these wildflowers found on the Walhalla Plateau.
Firefly chose #8642 “by just doing a little pattern on my keyboard.” I think he’ll like the pattern from the setting sun on these mountains surrounding Rodene Farm in the Western Cape where I stayed in a delightful cottage in Ceres, South Africa.
Bibi chose #1066 as “the year of the Norman Conquest. I’m a William the Conqueror fan.” Well this old movie set found along the Johnson Canyon Road in Utah isn’t quite that old. But this shows I’m a history buff also.
My pick for this week is the full moon rising taken last Friday over Cedar Mountain from Cape Royal overlook on the North Rim of Grand Canyon. To see more of this event check out the post on my other blog.
Thank you for playing along with Foto Friday Fun. It’s so much fun to dig through my archives and pull the stories from my memories. If you’d like to join the fun leave a number between 1 and 10000 in a comment and maybe you can see your chosen image next week.
Which one is your favorite from this week?
