This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by eight readers including Grand Canyon, dino tracks, sparkly me, and my old store front in Tonasket, Washington.
Rita chose #3981. While out on self-drive safari in Kruger National Park, South Africa eyes are constantly sweeping back and forth across the land. Suddenly, around a corner, a wildlife encounter can happen at any time. Then it’s time to sit, wait and enjoy as they will eventually go into the bush looking for food.
Diane and Nigel chose #1501. A rather grainy sunset with an old P&S from Cape Royal overlook on the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park taken 9-14-09. I often worked at that location and would change out of uniform at the end of day and stay to photograph sunset.
Doris chose #439. I’ve collected (mostly vintage) sequin clothes for years yet rarely wear them. Berta took this shot on Halloween 2008 in a parking lot in Prescott, Arizona. I wore almost the same with more layers for the colder temperature on Halloween 2020 at a Bryce Canyon gathering (with distancing).
Sallie and Bill chose #240 for the time. This shot of Cliff Spring at the end of a short trail was the first time I hiked it my first season at the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park in 2008.
Cathy chose #281. While exploring the surrounding area from Grand Canyon in 2008 I visited Glen Canyon Dam in Page, Arizona. This trace fossil was created by a dinosaur walking on wet sand, like us walking on the beach. But this was dunes and later sand filled the track then over time the dunes lithified into sandstone. There’s a great dino visitor center not far west from there in Big Water, Utah along SR89.
Yogi chose #6281. Monsoon at Grand Canyon from Cape Royal overlook south east when fog shrouded Vishnu Temple. Taken 8-13-14.
Sherry chose #64. This throwback scanned print from 1984 evokes so many memories. Parked outside, the van my ex and two step-kids moved to Tonasket, Washington in 1981 taken from inside my second store front for “Gail’s Crafts and Collectibles”. I had bought the local yarn shop and then learned to knit and crochet adding to my craft of stained glass. I also learned to paint windows. This display for a count the leprechaun contest around St Patrick’s Day.
Jeff chose #2014, “the year we hiked Zion’s Narrows.” This sunset shot over the Vallecito Mountains taken 12-24-14 at another one of his favorite public lands, Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, California. While boondocking here I learned the meaning of Christmas is to be kind and giving.
I recently returned to the Plomosa Mountains north of Quartzsite, AZ.
