This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by 12 readers including history, hikes, and a request for critters that brought out many species mostly from South Africa.
Cathy chose #0011. I felt fortunate to see and photography most of the May 2012 partial annular eclipse, this is an entry shot, at the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona.
Lisa chose #1005. In 2010, my first visit to South Africa and first sighting of lions on safari at Kruger National Park.
Doris chose #7174. Look closely for the chicks following Mom Ostrich through the brush at Karoo National Park, South Africa.
Diane and Nigel chose #109. This painting on the wall at the Mesa Verde National Park museum provides an artists rendition of life in the Cliff Palace dwelling of the Ancestral Puebloans.
Wanda chose #7880. Warthogs at Addo Elephant National Park during a return visit in 2014. My first visit I saw so many warthogs I thought the park should be renamed.
Rita chose #9011. The hike to the Wave is not along a designated trail, instead it’s directional to landmarks. Like that shadowed crack in the rocky distance.
Jeff chose #911, “lest we forget.” There is so much of history we should not forget, some more important than others perhaps. This historic charcoal kiln in Death Valley National Park is part of the west’s history.
Sherry chose #9721. Being an long-time RV traveler I’m not sure this set up would work for her any better than me. I like glamping in a little more style. Although this is a stylish set up up. Seen at the Yarnell Car Show in 2015.
Gypsy asked for a critter photo after seeing her first this summer scorpion. The oldest critter photo I found is my childhood dog Adolph with Mom on New Years Eve 1969 in Downers Grove, Illinois. He looks as drunk as my Mom probably was. Then I found a scorpion shot taken in Kruger National Park South Africa that looks very different to our Arizona Barks, but could still put a wampum on you.
Sallie and Bill chose #0514. Two hippos swimming towards each other seen at Pilanesberg Game Reserve, South Africa.
Jo chose #9082. Another landmark look getting closer to the Wave. Do you see where?
Alan chose #174. My first rim to rim hike across Grand Canyon in 2008. I’d been told to get through The Box in Bright Ange Canyon before the heat of the day. Thank goodness this was early May because I had to dawdle along the way.
My choices from your numbers. First #0514 watching the moon and reverse sunset from the beach in Bandon, Oregon the end of October 2014, the last time I’ve been to the ocean. And second #7880 because I wanted to see it processed, brilliant Paintbrush flowers at Marble View overlook in the North Kaibab National Forest, Arizona. And the last from 2017, Autumn gold Aspen on the Kaibab National Forest.
