This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by 10 readers and includes several stormy skies at Grand Canyon and in South Africa. I am intensely attracted to clouds and therefor administer a Facebook page for Nepholography.
Sherry and David chose #1000. The first time I saw lions at Kruger National Park, South Africa. These young brothers were with a pride settling in for the night on the warm pavement. So nonchalant, only 20 feet away, no worries they have plenty of prey.
Diane and Nigel chose #1101. Less than an hour after the above lion sighting we had barely made it back to camp before the gates closed at sunset in Kruger National Park.
George chose #7049. Cape Royal, my favorite place for sunset on the North Rim.
TreDeuce chose #1553, “The year Ann Boleyn changed England’s political allegiance with the church. Unfortunately it cost her and her brother their heads.” Look closely for tear drops on the changing Aspen leaf’s edge.
Jeff chose #1318, “the time on Jan 9th the Sea Shepherd came under a prolonged attack by poachers.” I was saddened by this story yet glad to know someone is looking out for the world’s smallest porpoise. Kind of like the National Park Service looking after our public lands while we enjoy a most iconic view of Grand Canyon from the North Rim. Here, you can sit on a bench towards the beginning of the short and narrow Bright Angel Point trail.
Jennifer chose #4325, one of three in a panorama. Having visited the conservatory in Chicago as a kid the Pearson Conservatory in St. George’s Park intrigued me during my tour of Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Not nearly as big but oh so exotic.
Yogi chose #2019. During summer in Zion National Park you have to ride the shuttle in the canyon which runs with regularity and lots of stops for trails and views.
Pam and John chose #1011, one of two in a panorama. Point Imperial overlook on the North Rim offers an eastern view across Grand Canyon and the Marble Platform to Vermilion and Echo Cliffs at least 60 miles away. Amazing to see that far even with a nearby storm.
Dave chose #1955. No stormy skies like this at Grand Canyon for him in Mississippi.
Rita chose #3875. Another stormy view but this time of the Hogsbacks sitting on the stoop at my Never Daunted cottage over morning coffee. I could move to South Africa and live here forever.
My choice this week for a little humor.
