Sky Watch Friday – Another Yarnell Sunset

All it takes it clouds. Otherwise, the sky is a mellow orange, violet and blue that just doesn’t photograph well. This is my western view. And it happens almost every night.

Sky Watch Friday – Salton Sea Sunrise

The Salton Sea is located in southeastern California at 227 feet below sea level. This unique saline land-locked body of water is a critical part of the Pacific Flyway attracting hundreds of species of birds to its wetland habitat.

I camped along the Sea back in winter of 1996 while on a major road trip which you can read more about in next week’s My World Tuesday.

For more views of the skies around the world check out SkyWatch, and feel free to share.

Desert sunset – Skywatch Friday

I’m not a morning person so I see more sunsets than sunrises and the AZ dessert is a spectacular place for sky watching. This particular view was taken during my first winter in the dessert (1997) camping on BLM (Bureau of Land Management) land in southern Arizona for weeks at a time. I was equally fascinated with the saguaros standing tall with arms reaching towards the sky.

This is my first SWF post. If you like to watch the sky then go to Skywatch Friday.

Hi, I’m Gaelyn, the Geogypsy

I retired after 29 summer seasons as a Park Ranger, traveling solo for 40+ years. My passions include travel, connecting to nature, photography, and sharing stories.

I started exploring US National Parks in 1977 and 20 years later became a seasonal Park Ranger.  I’ve lived full-time in a RV for 30 years working summers and playing winters.  I’m still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow old, other than grow up.

Let’s share our stories.  Here’s more of mine…

My wheeleastate

I am currently…

…boondocking somewhere in southern Arizona.  In the area, give a shout.
