New couch

I went shopping in Prescott today and I certainly wasn’t looking for furniture.

It’s a beautiful 30 mile drive over the Bradshaw Mountains.

I had specific places to go and a list. Not Christmas shopping. Well, OK I did buy some cheeses to take to a Christmas dinner. Even got to sample a few while grazing/lunch at Costco.

I resisted all the hubbub and greenery at Wal-Mart for a back up heater, a bra (which I’m sure you don’t want to see) and a heavy duty electric cord.

Heading home towards the Weaver Mts
Then Safeway for a few groceries because only they seem to carry my favorite ice cream, Haagen-Dazs crème brulee.

Yet while wheeling quickly past all the Christmas candy I remembered hearing about dark chocolate “kisses” and sure enough, so I bought several bags. I am greedy that way.

I’m really not advertising for any of these companies, they just had what I needed.

Oh yea, almost forgot about the new couch which I bought at, where else but, a thrift store.

Just the right size to fit in my RV collection of boxes, but you could only be 3 inches tall to sleep on it.

Secondhand Me

Going to town is dangerous for me. I tend to check out the thrift and antique shops and always seem to find something to buy. The above tray is for a friend in Yarnell who collects Couroc.

Then had to look over what the Native American ladies had for sale. They set up to sell here to tourists. Usually it’s just low priced necklaces that are mass produced. Yet occasionally they have something unusual, like the horned lizard pin above.

On the way home I stopped in Fredonia. At the Animal Rescue Thrift Shop I bought a sterling silver chain for $1. Then went to the local Antique store and scored the sterling silver and turquoise cluster ring which is “old pawn” from the 1950s. A perfect fit.

Makeover

Today Berta, Dolores and I went to Prescott, about 40 miles and one hour away. We started at Noahs, the animal rescue thrift store. Berta bought a merino wool dress for $12 with the original $115 price tag still on it. Unfortunately, so was the security tag. Dolores bought a colorful knit winter cap. I bought…

The goods

…the foam pad for $10, that’s a sequin tube top by Frederick’s of Hollywood for $2 which I’m thinking of making a purse out of, and the book for $2. Score!
Next we went to the Mall. Started at Dillards where Dolores wanted to buy some makeup. She talked Berta and I into a makeover.

On the third try we found a store that had the right gadget to take the security tag off Berta’s new dress. Noahs had written a note that the dress was a donation, not stolen.

We also went to Costco, a bead store, a printer ink store and Safeway. And we actually made it home before dark.
