Going to the dentist, a long drive

Heading off the plateau today for the long drive to Yarnell.  Yet another dentist appointment.  One of these weeks/months I should be done.  Here’s where I’ll be driving through.

01 Meadows Kaibab NF SR67 N AZ (1024x768)

The meadows on the Kaibab Plateau.

02 Cows along SR67 N Kaibab NF AZ (1015x1024)

Also forest.  Watch out for the not-so wildlife.

03 Dropping off Kaibab Plateau to House Rock Valley SR89A E Kaibab NF AZ (1024x531)

Drop off the plateau.

04 Cumulus over Vermilion Cliffs SR89A E AZ (1024x768)

Past the Vermilion Cliffs.

05 Navajo Bridge SR89A S Marble Canyon AZ (1024x435)

Over the river and already went through the woods.

06 Painted Desert along SR89 S AZ (1024x543)

Across the painted desert.

07 Mt Humphreys SR89 S AZ (1024x768)

Around Mount Humphreys.

08 Pronghorns SR89 S Chino Valley AZ (1024x461)

Through Chino Valley where the pronghorns browse.

09 Sunseting behind Weaver Mts from Iron Springs Rd AZ (1024x567)

And home to the Weaver Mountains as the sun goes down.

360 miles.  How far do you have to drive to the dentist?

On the road again

01 Old car Kanab UT (1024x678)

Finally got my truck back.  Think it will pull my 5th-wheel?

Actually this old rig was parked in front of Escobars last week where I had lunch with friends before picking up my, hopefully, repaired truck.

02 Hwy 9 E Hurricane UT (1024x768)

Then I took off for Hurricane, Utah to do the shopping I’ve put off for two weeks due to constant truck repairs.

03 Hwy 59 E UT (1024x502)

The views of towering cliffs seems endless looking toward Zion National Park.

04 Two boys riding horses Hwy 389 E Colorado City AZ (1024x573)

But the temperature reached 100 F according to the reading on my truck.  Whew, couldn’t wait to get back to the cooler pines that surround the north rim of Grand Canyon.  Though these boys seemed to have the right idea of a way to cool off.

Hi, I’m Gaelyn, the Geogypsy

I retired after 29 summer seasons as a Park Ranger, traveling solo for 40+ years. My passions include travel, connecting to nature, photography, and sharing stories.

I started exploring US National Parks in 1977 and 20 years later became a seasonal Park Ranger.  I’ve lived full-time in a RV for 30 years working summers and playing winters.  I’m still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow old, other than grow up.

Let’s share our stories.  Here’s more of mine…

My wheeleastate

I am currently…

…boondocking somewhere in southern Arizona.  In the area, give a shout.
