After I followed Mike towing the 5th-wheel about 30 minutes from Flagstaff I heard a funny noise. Looked around the car then back ahead when I heard something peppering the windshield and saw smoke on the left rear tire ahead.
Luckily there was an exit ramp to Williams to limp down then pull off on the wide shoulder. Only one tire and didn’t ruin anything else.
Mike calmly got out all the needed tools and put the spare on, which was very low on air.
Then we limped into Williams and found a tire shop. They had a replacement and within an hour the job was done.
When I went to pay the bill, Eddie the owner asked if I had any grandchildren. Yes. Then I need to tell them I “bought a tire at Luigi’s Casa Della Tires in Radiator Springs along Route 66” from the Disney movie Cars. His family run shop for 50 years provided the model.
And that’s Betsy in the garage.
We hit the road again and got home by 2:30p. Although not fun to have a blow out, sure went smoothly.
Our first Yarnell sunset.
