As much as I love the visitors who come to Grand Canyon there’s something very special about driving Highway 67 into the park and feeling like I own the whole forest.
Even with gates to unlock.
Very little snow remains on the meadows because of the 60F days and the fact that not much snow fell this past winter.
The Forest Service has taken down a lot more trees out of the 2006 Warm Fire burn plus many have fallen in the wind. I really like the skeletal pattern of the standing dead.
Took all these photos early last Friday morning on our way off the Kaibab Plateau and never saw another vehicle for the entire 45 miles to Jacob Lake where we stopped for breakfast. Won’t be like this too much longer because when the gate opens May 15th people come in hordes to the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park.
