Sharing a meal with friends in the Grand Lodge started the day.

A day of celebration, Native American Heritage Days at the North Rim August 9th and 10th.

A Hopi family shared their art of woven baskets, blown glass and carved kachinas.

A group of Zuni youth shared social dances.

A young Hopi boy shared the eagle dance.

Then joined his father in the hoop dance, which represents all cultures of the world.

Sharing, that’s what Native American Heritage Days is all about at the North Rim.

Sharing Grand Canyon is something I love to do.  Come for a visit and I’ll share it with you.

Who wants to see the canyon on a clear blue sky day with no shadows and a flat landscape, unless you’re a bird.

Cooking one’s brains during the middle of a hot sun baked day doesn’t appeal to me near as much as under cool clouds.

Listening to the thunder as the dark clouds roll in.

Trying to capture the elusive lightning.

Feeling the cool breeze that precedes perhaps a few much needed drops of rain.

And best of all, sharing it with friends.  Geri and Chuck from phunnyfarm are visiting and I’m so enjoying sharing the canyon’s moods with them.

Today we’re off to breakfast at the Grand Lodge and this afternoon we’ll enjoy music and dancing at Native American Heritage Days.
