Beautiful day for a drive to Grand Canyon

I dressed for the occasion. Hey it’s cold at 7,000 feet.

Left the house about 11:30 this morning, no rush. Drove past the “lovers” boulders just before Prescott.

Then on past Prescott towards Chino, the other side of these mountains.

By the time I approached Williams signs of winter were quite apparent.

And then I headed north into the park.

I arrived about 4pm, parked and headed for the rim where I saw El Tovar throwing out a blanket of white.

That’s the North Rim over there showing snowy streaks of white down the canyon walls.

Scenic Sunday – Dreaming of summer

When the water line is frozen like this morning, I don’t have or need an outside thermometer to tell me it’s cold. So I’m dreaming of a warmer summer morning overlooking Grand Canyon.

Hi, I’m Gaelyn, the Geogypsy

I retired after 29 summer seasons as a Park Ranger, traveling solo for 40+ years. My passions include travel, connecting to nature, photography, and sharing stories.

I started exploring US National Parks in 1977 and 20 years later became a seasonal Park Ranger.  I’ve lived full-time in a RV for 30 years working summers and playing winters.  I’m still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow old, other than grow up.

Let’s share our stories.  Here’s more of mine…

My wheeleastate

I am currently…
