Thursday night I was scheduled for the nightly Park Ranger led campfire program. I tell a Native American story about Old Clay Man and Old Clay Woman teaching the Ancestral Puebloan people how to make clay pots.
After roving the campground to invite visitors to the program I walked to the amphitheater wondering if I would actually build a fire being it is still light and warm on this late August night.
Imagine my surprise when the wood was completely laid out and ready to light. I thought maybe the previous night’s Park Ranger had not lit the fire. Or maybe the forest elves were looking after me.
Then I noticed a bouquet of wildflowers in a styrofoam cup with a piece of folded paper underneath.
I smiled and felt tingly all over. Then lit the fire and shared this gift with the attending visitors.
Thank you secret campers.
