A rainy afternoon created just a shadowy view of the Grand Staircase Escalante’s towering cliffs.
To view more shadows from around the world go to Shadow Shot Sunday 2.

The broad-tailed hummingbird is quite noisy with its shrill whistling.
The new feeder is working out quite well. None have flown into the window, at least not while I’ve been watching.
The rufous hummingbird has a subdued humming.
Now I’ve seen, and heard, the three most common hummingbirds that visit Grand Canyon’s North Rim. Just need to get a better shot of the black-chinned.
These shots were taken with the old Fuji because the Nikon just doesn’t do a great job with close ups through tinted windows. Or maybe it’s just me needing to learn more.

As I approached Colorado City the sky blackened, then poured.
And beyond that the thickened sky dropped to the ground.
I headed south and clouds hung above the Kaibab Plateau.
And as I approached Jacob Lake fog filled the forest.
From there the clouds took on some interesting shapes…
…and the sun made a final effort.
I craned my neck for a rainbow that didn’t show.
But was just a threat of heavy rain because only sprinkles feel the rest of the way home.
Hopefully you can see clearer skies by visiting Sky Watch Friday.
