This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by seven readers including sky, rock, and life in a diversity of landscapes seen in South Africa and the American Southwest.
Diane and Nigel chose #2012. A place I’m sure they admire as much as I, or anyone else who has seen the Drakensburg Mountains in South Africa. In March 2010 I was fortunate enough to backpack into this rolling green landscape with my guide John, son to blog friend Jo.
Rita chose #6347. During my March 2015 visit to Joshua Tree National Park while camped at Jumbo Rocks campground I often walked in the boulders surrounding camp.
Yogi chose #1227. An unidentified spring flowering bush in Yarnell, Arizona. Feel free to chime in about what this is.
Jeff chose #1208, “the number of hours we will be hosting guests this Thanksgiving/Christmas season.” After I don’t know how many hours of riding around in Kruger National Park watching for wildlife it’s a treat to stop at a place like the Letaba Rest Camp to get out of the vehicle. During my first visit to South Africa in 2010 I was rather shocked to see this Bushbuck within only a few feet.
Jim and Diana chose #636, “the time of yesterday’s flawed Boeing Starliner launch.” This shot is from the first time I hiked Buckskin Gulch slot canyon in 2009. Definitely not a flawed launch for me.
Sallie and Bill chose #2020, a date we are quickly approaching. This shot was during a late afternoon approach for sunset at Badwater Basin in Death Valley National Park, California during my March, 2017 visit.
Lisa chose #2345. I ran away from the holidays in 2014 and ended up my first visit to Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, California. Due to cold temperatures and high winds I took a lot of photos through dirty camper windows like this one. I did get out to socialize with a few other RVers.
My choice taken Christmas Eve after a day of on and off rain with mostly gray skies. A brief patch of snow got me outside for this panorama taken near the front of my truck in North Ranch RV Park Congress, Arizona.
