This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by 11 readers including multiple views of the geologic Grand Staircase, not so iconic views at Grand Canyon, other parks of course, and a bit more.
Jim and Diana chose #102. Before the fire Yarnell’s claim to fame included the SR89 hill drive and The Shrine of St Joseph of the mountains where this statue of “Jesus resurrected from ashes” is seen.
Jo chose #4120. The Johnson Canyon Road can be impassible after heavy rains. This view north surrounded by white sandstone cliffs leads into Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. In the distance the Pink Cliffs of Bryce Canyon National Park.
Cathy chose #0809. February of 2016 proved to be a Superbloom in Death Valley. The brilliant Desert Gold flowers lit up the often dull brown landscape like here along Artists Drive with the Panamint Range in the distance.
Yogi chose #914. Another perspective of the Grand Staircase looking across sage flats to the Vermilion Cliffs while driving SR89 back in 2009.
Diane and Nigel chose #1707. A view they saw when visiting the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park. This shot taken in 2013 from Point Imperial has Saddle Mountain framing the Vermilion Cliffs in the distance and possible rain on House Rock Valley below.
Jeff chose #54, “the number of blocks in the Jenga stack I’m making.” Probably more wood sticks on the foreground hillside, not so easy to stack, in the blast zone around Mt St Helens. This shot south from Smith overlook all the way to Mt Hood in the hazy distance taken during my summer 1992 season as a Ranger.
Doris chose #5985, one of five in a panoramic sunset over the Salton Sea State Recreation Area from my Corvina Beach California camp during February 2015.
Rita chose #9649. Have to pay close attention to washes crossing the House Rock Valley Road past the Cockscomb in the Vermilion Cliffs National Monument. Yet another southwest road that can be impassible after heavy rain.
Jennifer chose #9996. As much as she likes to walk in the woods I think the Ken Patrick trail would call to her. Just have to get to the North Rim Grand Canyon for this walk.
Sallie and Bill chose #63. As RVers who have changed rigs over time they might appreciate my previous 5th-wheel. This living room shot was taken in Summit, Colorado during the summer of 2005 when I worked as a Ranger at Mesa Verde National Park.
Sherry chose #7456. I’m wishing her cooler temperatures with this Autumn Aspen seen on the North Kaibab National Forest.
My choice, from the rim looking down on the Queen’s Garden Trail, a tiny piece low left, with Queen Victoria standing above. Do you see her?
