This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by 10 readers including a lot of Grand Canyon, a bit of South African wildlife, and Cadillac camping in the UP of Michigan.
Gypsy chose #3019 for a past visit to native ruins in Florence and Coolidge, Arizona. No ruins on this visit to TeTeMuka B&B in South Africa, but lots of birds. Not sure this is really a Galah Cockatoo as they are pink and gray. No matter, this was such a fun place to stay.
Jodee and Bill chose #1441, one of eight in a panorama. From my favorite North Rim viewpoint, Cape Royal provides a panoramic view of Grand Canyon. Plus to the right of this view, my favorite place for sunset.
Diane and Nigel chose #2608, and saw this North Rim view for sunset during their visit to Grand Canyon.
Sallie and Bill chose #9222. Another North Rim view this time looking east from the Ken Patrick trail during fall.
Alan chose #2206. Back to the North Rim’s Grand Lodge end of May, 2015. Rangers get paid in sunsets.
Cathy chose #5247. Yet another Grand Canyon view looking South from Crazy Jug Point on the Kaibab National Forest. I’m guessing she’s been here more than once. A favorite to watch monsoon skies.
Sherry chose #8288. Called Mountain Zebra National Park, there’s way more there than zebras.
Rita chose #9210. Just another pile of rocks you think, but this is at Augrabies Falls National Park where I spent my 60th birthday in South Africa. I long to return. Maybe for my 70th?
Jeff chose #2525, “the bus number in the movie Speed and now I have this ear worm ‘In the year 2525, if man s till alive…’” I’ve not seen the movie but know the song. Wonder what the diminishing Lake Mead will look like then. The entire landscape to what is seen of the lake was underwater at one time. This shot from the Callville campground in February 2016.
Barb chose #7925. This collared lioness was not shot with my trail cam. She was a recent release in Addo Elephant National Park, South Africa, so being monitored.
My choices from September 1974 when my boyfriend and I plus another couple vacationed in the UP Michigan. We packed for every possible activity, camping and staying in a historic Ore Mining Office conversion in Bessemer, home to the oldest keystone bridge in the USA. Transportation for four and gear was Mom’s Cadillac. We loaded the canoe so heavy ended up using the climbing gear to lift the boat and drive the car underneath. Good times!

Do you have a favorite this week?
Thanks for the memories
Dear Gaelyn, I don’t think you received my submission last week. I struggled to upload the comment. I am at a fair with a stall. My number is 13 (lucky for me) So please may I have 2013 for next week, Have a great week. Jo
Guess I didn’t receive any comment from last week. Seems to be an intermittent problem, again. Have fun at the fair. #13 for next week.
Too many favorites for me to pick just one this week. I bet that was a great trip and lots of Michigan fun. Next week #0281
Thanks. The Michigan trip was awesome. #0281 for next week.
We have to agree with Cathy, too many favourites, but if a single one has the edge it is possibly our sunset. I wonder if that was the same lioness we saw at Addo in 2019 but I am sure the one we saw had not collar. Maybe they had taken it off by then.
Have a good weekend and take care.
Hugs from us both Diane and Nigel
Thanks. Can’t miss with a Grand Canyon sunset. #209 for next week.
Hi Gaelyn, lovely selection of photo’s especially of Grand Canyon. I love the sunset of the North Rim Grand Canyon. My favourite however is that lovely collared Lioness, she looks really proud.
No 4101 for next week please. Have a good weekend.
Thanks. Every lion I’ve seen has that look of pride. #4101 for next week.
Hello Friday1 Oh my the panorama and GC photos. Read through, I had lioness image on mind, then looked back and saw a lioness rock figure in those pile of rocks, Augrabies Falls, just right of center:) I did love your throwback memories of 1974. Too funny seeing long canoe on Caddy. Speaking of the African B&B in my photo, I’m asking for #117 next week (and a plug) for another Florence trip and stay at Bailey’s B&B in Florence, themed rooms, that time was in The Library. Hope they’re still going. I also think with small # that I may get more oldies?
I had to go back and look at the rock pile, sure enough I see that lion. #117 for next week. Yes, small number do tend to bring older photos.
I love all the Grand Canyon pics of course but all your photos are great.
5909 for next week
Thanks. Hard to take a bad pic of Grand Canyon. #5909 for next week.
Ha, hope your mom was somewhere else while you kids were loading up her Cadillac! Fun memories. Loved the painterly Grand Canyon photos — nice how “ours” is framed with the trees. The lioness looks proud of her jewelry. May I have 246 next week?
Thanks. Mom and Dad were on vacation when I took the Caddy. But I did return it with a few extra Michigan racing stripes that pissed them off. The vaca was worth it. #246 for next week.
I do love those canyon shots, no matter which rim they’re from. We’ll be ready for some northern AZ, southern UT next year! 3011 for next week please.
Thanks. I’m ready for those places right now after the heat here for the last two months. #3011 for this week.
LOL at the canoe story. What a riot!! Love that panorama and the fantastic shot of the lone zebra. The lioness looks so regal. I’d like 9422 for next week please.
Thanks. The South African wildlife calls me back. #9422 for this week.
Loved my lioness pick and always your GC views.
How about #6600 for Friday. The price of my new a/c unit!!!!
Stay cool!
Thanks. OMG on the AC price, but you have to have in FL, here too. #6600 for this week.
