This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by 15 readers including shades of orange, South African wildlife, and mini-me.
Rita chose #9494. My hiking partner Bill headed down the iconic Wave formation, ancient sand dunes turned to stone.
Cathy chose #8591. A tree full of Vervet monkeys, the most mischievous animal seen in Mountain Zebra National Park, South Africa.
Jennifer chose #6565. This sunset hung above the Indian Ocean in Tsitsikamma National Park, South Africa.
Doris chose #9077. This sunset was seen from Cape Royal overlook on the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park.
Alan chose #7905. Just lion around on the side of the road. This collared lioness was seen in Addo Elephant National Park, South Africa.
Sallie and Bill get #59 for the number of words in their last comment. That’s little old me at two-years old in 1956, off to see the world.
Diane and Nigel chose #2503. Even on a cloudy afternoon, sometimes the light shines through. Seen while camping in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park in California.
Jo chose #8882. A pair of Blackbacked Jackals seen at the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park in her home country of South Africa.
Sandee chose #1313. Wildlife often uses roads as an open trail like this giraffe seen in Kruger National Park, South Africa.
Ray chose #1997. The golden hour sure accented the Kelso Dunes in Mojave National Preserve, California.
Jeff chose #9008, “the distance in km the Netherlands ASRN rowing team traveled to compete in this weekends Crew Classic.” Glad I didn’t have to go that distance to hike the Palm Canyon trail in Kofa National Wildlife Refuge, Arizona.
Gypsy chose #38. A lousy pic of me at one-year old.
Sherry chose #3278. A wind and water carved limestone bluff seen near the Indian Ocean in Tsitsikamma National Park, South Africa.
Sue chose #2622. SR95 east in Utah cuts through Comb Ridge, and leads to many awesome red rock sights.
Liberalwarrior chose #1371. More Utah red rock of a different kind and place. This is a wall of limestone towering above the Navajo Loop trail in Bryce Canyon seen the first time I hiked it in 2010.
My choice is a recent sunrise (that’s no April Fool’s joke) in the Sonoran Desert of southern Arizona.

Do you have a favorite this week?
Thanks for the memories
Love your favourite of the reflection of the sunrise, our photos is fab also, we love rays shining through a stormy sky, but the wave has to be our favourite, Unique, and sadly a place we did not get to visit. As always love seeing the little you 😉 and of course any SA photos are enjoyed.
104 for next week please. Have a great weekend. Hugs from us both. Diane and Nigel.
Thanks. I was shooting sunrise and turned to see that reflection. Score! But then I love to watch the sky. #104 for next week.
Beauty in all the Sunsets. You “trikin’ on” is a cutie. The Wave is my favorite this week. Like seeing the distance shot of it. Next week #2468
Thanks. Never a bad sunset, or sunrise when I catch them. I’m guessing you’ve been to the Wave. #2468 for next week.
Still on the long list of places to see. I use rec.gov for my attempts at a permit for cooler months. Actually the Wave isn’t at the top (& that’s no April Fools Day joke … haha). So many gems in the whole Southern UT Northern AZ area that are waiting for me. I like seeing places that I have to dig and research for. Makes it part of the adventure! Have a good weekend!
Agree, that area is loaded with amazing beauty. Nice to live there and explore.
Love the story (& photos) on the Wave link. Hope it can continue to survive the new visitation. Bill definitely had opportunities of a lifetime in the area. Thanks again for sharing all the links for a 1st read or a recapture.
Thanks. I don’t like the visitation increase at all. Glad I was there before it.
I disagreed with the visitation changes as well & did submit my opinion during the info gathering stage.
I enjoy sunsets, but the first one (9494) is amazing! #9012
Thanks. Extra special when the ground looks like a sunset. #9012 for next week.
TGIFotoFriday. Oh Lordy sunsets, and smashing camper sunrise. I love different angles, viewpoints. And tiny you. April 1 has been my favorite holiday:) But no pranks here #2821 please: for a relatively newer date, NASA Parker Solar Probe touching the Sun, withstanding temps up to 1.8 million degrees F.
There is something about the lighting in the SR95 shot that struck me, can’t put my finger on it but really enjoy the shot. #9531 for next week please.
Thanks. That really is an amazing drive. #9531 for next week.
I’m too gullible for April 1. That’s hotter than AZ. 😉 #2821 for next week.
Loved the Wave photo. Sadly, we never made it there on our many trips south. Also, the Navajo Loop trail photo at Bryce is stunning. Next week 4499 please
Thanks. The Wave has upped the #to 94 permits per day. Makes your chances better but I am sorry they did that. #4499 for next week.
Dear Gaelyn, I loved your sunset and gold hour photos. And then was blown away by the sunrise reflection in your window. Brilliant. I love jackal and heard several calling last night while I lay in my bed! My favorite is you on your tricycle. Please could I have 1145 (the time now as I type this comment.) Have a great weekend. Jo
Thanks. Of course I see more sunsets than rises, but once in a while. I listen to the coyotes howl at night. #1145 for next week.
Oh my goodness, Gaelyn, I did get the most wondrous photo of all this time around. Bryce pinnacles are pretty but don’t move me the way the solid rock of landscapes farther north do. I have traveled this road many times crossing Comb Ridge. Will never forget the first time I hauled Shera’s fifth wheel down that steep grade just beyond this spot, toward the wash. Wasn’t so scary after the fact, but her rig was new and we still weren’t sure what it could do. OK I’ll pick 1997 for the year we did that.
I knew you’d like that shot even before this wonderful story. #1997 for next week.
Not sure if you got my email Gaelyn, to say I tried commenting on this post before but lost it. So here goes. Love that Lioness sitting in the road and you riding your bike at 2 yrs old. Fav this week Sunset over Cape Royal on the North rim Grand Canyon. No 2174 for next week please.
I did not, and hope that’s not an indication of problems, again. Cape Royal was my go to place for sunset at the North Rim. #2174 for next week.
Great picture of the lone wave hiker. Wish it were me. Lovely sunsets worlds apart but both very beautiful. The brilliant rock colors are outstanding. How-do-you-do that? I’ll try number #8177 for the scores in the NCAA basketball final 4 game I stayed up too late to watch tonight.
You are up late. #8177 for next week.
You make it hard to pick one with some many great photos. I love the Cape Royal Sunset photo, and the wave photo, and the reflection in your camper, and of course pics of little ole you from way back when.
random dot org says 5723 for next week.
Thanks. Sometimes I have a hard time picking too. #5723 for next week.
Always great photos, and I’m always partial to the desert southwest. For next week I’d like 141 for the combined points in the NCAA men’s final.
Thanks. #141 for this week.
You always did like to go places obviously! And here we get to share some of the results of your going places when you were slightly older than in our picture. So much beautiful scenery, skyscapes, and wild animals …this was an incredible collection. Loved the sky framed in the camper window… a perfect ending, Before I forget again, I’ll take 742 next week please. .
I’ve wandered since I was able and glad I grew into so many beautiful places, and people too. #742 for this week.
