This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by 13 readers including big and small, Grand Canyon, Kanab cemetery, and naked me.
TreDuece received #16 for the number of words in his comment. This release of smolt (baby salmon) into the Columbia River from the Spring Creek National Fish Hatchery where I worked in 1996.
Diane and NIgel chose #403. When driving north on SR89A from the Kaibab Plateau, Jacob Lake, or the North Rim Grand Canyon stop at the LeFevre overlook for this magnificent view (better than the image) of the Grand Staircase.
Cathy chose #4921. The iconic Hopi House designed by Mary Colter on the South Rim Grand Canyon National Park.
Doris chose #1898. Always a treat when a classic car club came to the North Rim, and I saw their classy rides.
Jo chose #4372, the day she was married. This day I got lucky to catch the last light on the trees, and weather station, I saw from my RV window the 2015 season at the North Rim Grand Canyon.
Sue chose #1206. The stone temple middle of photo is called Mount Hayden. Most commonly it is seen from the Pt. Imperial overlook which would be to the far left out of sight. This angle is from Vista Encantada overlook, a stop on the scenic road to Cape Royal on the North Rim Grand Canyon.
Alan and random dot org chose #7157. Another RV window view, this time while living in Kanab, Utah the winter of 2015/16.
Gypsy chose #529, “for meeting my brother off the Arizona Trail at Vermillion Cliffs.” This tiny world of moss was seen near the North Rim Lookout Tower along the Arizona Trail.
Rita chose #9002. Same cemetery as above in Kanab, slightly different angle of view.
Sherry chose #1207. This Bushbuck stands about three foot, grazing in the Letaba Rest Camp in Kruger National Park, South Africa.
Susan chose #1904, “the year my dad was born.” Saw these sweet little unidentified flowers the day I hiked in the Drakensberg Mountains, South Africa.
Jennifer chose #0932. Desert Gold carpeted the land during the 2016 Superbloom at Death Valley National Park, California.
Sallie and Bill chose #2762, “for the date in March of their middle son’s birthday.” Also the day after my birthday, eight years later. Later is what I think of looking at the lovely rich colors of Autumn Aspen here seen along Hwy67 into the North Rim Grand Canyon.
My choice, sticking with my birthday month theme, from March 1991. I spent a week with a friend who shares my birth day at another friend’s off-grid cabin in Twisp, Washington and thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor shower with solar heated water.

Hi Gaelyn, I AM FIRST. WHOO HOO! I love Sallie and Bill’s choice of the tarred road going into the distance and I love the last photo of you showering in the wilds. Fantastic lighting in the image my numbers chose. Thanks for sharing. My number for next week is 5197 from the random number generator. Have a great week. Jo
Thanks. Photography is all about the light, as you know. #5197 for next week.
It is FRIDAY! I love the colours. The lovely yellows, it is so white here still! #2000
Yup! I do love colors and would very tired of all your white. #2000 for next week.
Always enjoy the views on Highway 67. Your shower in the wilds is a fun “birthday suit” pic. Haha Keep the celebration going!! Next week #2008 I subscribed to the YouTube channel and will share. Let’s get 1000 !!
Views you’ve seen but never get tired of. Thanks for subscribing and keep the word going. 1000 here I come. But #2008 for you next week.
Best totally non revealing birthday suit picture I have ever seen. Love even the idea of salmon in the river. Wish they didn’t have to be released. Mary Coulter is wonderful as is everything she designed. My favorite this week is the stone temple. Gorgeous light and color. Should be framed. #3303 for next week please.
Thanks. There were a few shots taken that were a little more revealing. #3303 for next week.
Another wonderful set of photos. I wonder if those little pink flowers are not Twinspur.-Coral Canyon (Diascia integerrima). Love showering in outside showers, very relaxing.
I have visited your video page and liked and subscribed, will get to see the videos properly one day with luck. They have said we might have cable by the end of the year!! Maybe!!
1103 for next week please. Keep warm and stay safe. Hugs, Diane and Nigel.
Thanks. The flowers reminded me of African violets, which I’d be sure they’re not. I may have to find a way to outside shower in camp. Thank you liking and subscribing to the YouTube, even though you can’t currently watch. #1103 for next week.
Maybe you remember how much I loved seeing the golden aspens in Colorado last Fall. The ones you just gave us from near the Grand Canyon are at least as lovely — thank you. I will get on my IPAd later and subscribe to your YouTube Channel, looking forward to it. (I like to watch YouTube curled up in a chair, not at my office desk where I’m “working” right now.) …
Golden aspen are beautiful from anywhere. Thanks for checking out the new YouTube.
Loved the Mount Hayden shot of the Grand Canyon. Love your youtube video. And of course you look great in your modest, demure birthday suit shot.
Thanks for checking out the video. And now I’m blushing and wish I could still look like that 30 something. #9809 for next week.
Me again 9809 from random dot org
Multi-million dollar car(Bugatti) out for a tour to the Grand Canyon. Would have loved to have been part of that. Oldest car I have driven was a 1913 Buick. Model-25. Oldest Buick I have owned…1933 88C Phaeton. Bought in pieces and restored it back to original. Drove it to North Vancouver, BC from Puyallup for a Buick meet.
Awww! Being naked in the wild or hot spring pool. Funny, I don’t recall any hot springs in the Methow valley area. 1367# for next Week.
Ooop’s…. As a Carpitect I meant to include this> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Colter
And this> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Women_in_architecture
There is currently much discussion as to Colter really being the architect.
You’re dating yourself, but what the hey. No hot springs just an outdoor shower. #1367 for next week.
After reading about your adventures with Bob and his instructions on how to post on YouTube, I was hoping you would start posting. Look forward to more post…I subscribed. #9688 for next week please.
Thanks for subscribing. There’s a definite learning curve to video. #9688 for this week.
Love the Hopi House South Rim Grand Canyon . Gaelyn, also Mount Hayden on the North Rim Grand Canyon but I think my fav is in fact that Hopi House. No 1115 for next week please. Stay safe and enjoy the weekend.
As an archeologist, no surprise you like Hopi House designed after native pueblos. #1115 for this week.
My favorite was 4372. I love the lighting. I’ll take 1727 next week… Keith
Thanks. Last light from that location was an almost every night favorite. #1727 for this week.
I did get a nice canyon shot this time, but that photo of you in the outside shower at the end is priceless. Thanks for sharing that one. Next time….ummm….why is this so hard? 4508 random end of ww2 maybe hopeful number.
Thanks, that was an awesome birthday and we missed the date and celebrated a day late. #4508 for this week.
Always enjoy the Grand Canyon pics. But a Bugatti? WOW! I’d have to sell the house just for the down payment.
For next week I’d like 1991, the year Ukraine became an independent nation.
LOL! I like to look but never desired to own that kind of classic, rather have my old 1968 Mercury Cyclone Cobra Jet. #1991 for this week.
