This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by eight readers including water vapor, hot water, cold water, falling water, frozen water, wildlife, and wild food.
Jo chose #5317. That large pool is filled with hot water from the natural thermals in Badplaas. Camped a couple times at this Forever Resort in South Africa. The most fun was warm water slides.
Gypsy chose #3116, “when Scott Kelly returned from 340 days on the ISS.” Where I believe they have no cactus. She sees a similar fruiting cactus in Arizona but this plant was seen at Addo Elephant National Park, South Africa.
Diane and Nigel chose #1211. She regularly grows and photographs the most beautiful flowers in her French yard. The Iris marks Spring in Yarnell, Arizona.
Sallie and Bill get #64 for the number of words in their last comment. The also get Whiskers, the male cougar I fed as an animal keeper at the California Living Museum in 1989.
Cathy chose #1648. Storm clouds hung over the Drakensberg Mountains during a hike to Sterkspruit Falls while visiting South Africa in 2010.
Sherry chose #2 and got #02, a scanned print probably taken in the late 50s or early 60s. My Grandma Bea’s log cabin on Enterprise Lake in Elcho Wisconsin where I spent time as a kid. I think a good lake for kayaking.
Sue chose #9876. My RV window view on April 25, 2015 barely looking at Transept Canyon on the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park.
Jeff chose #5099, “the price of diesel in Borrego Springs!” In South Africa fuel was about that much per liter when visiting in 2014. Which is when I also saw this Kruger National Park elephant headed down the road so we backed up and burned a little fuel (it was gas) to get out of the way.
My choices from November 1998 when I worked and lived at Eagles Cliff Resort near the Lewis River falls, Gifford Pinchot National Forest, Washington. That’s an edible Lobster mushroom gathered in the forest.

Do you have a favorite this week?
Thanks for the memories
That mushroom is enormous! Pretty amazing what you can find in the woods if you know where to look. I’m channeling my inner Geo Gypsy by heading to Canyonlands for the weekend to hopefully enjoy the apricity. Number 915 for next week please. 🙂
And it was tasty too. Hope you can find apricity at Canyonlands and say high to Rangers Chelsea and Robb if you see them. #915 for next week.
I imagine the water in raging in the Lewis River with all the rain thee PNW is getting, the waterfalls would be amazing.
I’d like 602 the length of last nights eclipse, which lasted for 6hrs 02mins as seen from San Diego. No I did not watch the whole time.
I hope all that rain didn’t cause flooding to evacuate like happened to me but imagine the waterfalls are spectacular. I didn’t do more than peak out the window at 3am. Too cold for me. I’ll look at other’s pictures. #602 for next week.
Hi Gaelyn, sorry looks like I forgot the photo Friday.Reason being had a friend visiting from Canada, I was totally distracted.. Wonderful variety of photo’s here and I love the one of you with the lobster mushroom. Fav this week is Whiskers , the Cougar I bet that was an experience feeding him/or her whichever the case may be. No 3322 for next week please.Have a great weekend.
No apologies needed as live company is most important, especially from so far away. I’m sure you had a marvelous visit. The female cougar, Sierra, was more friendly than the male Whiskers. #3322 for next week.
Wow that mushroom is huge, I wish I knew my mushrooms better. we have a number growing here but I will not eat them unless confirmed edible! Love that photo of you as well. Think the favourite this week has to be Grandma’s house, our idea of home 🙂 Love the iris, though we have irises in the garden not that species.
We are watching the sky here, but think we will not see the eclipse the moon rises very late here at the moment and now it is dark at 8pm there is still no sign of it.
Have a fab weekend, 1911 for next week please Hugs. Diane and Nigel.
.
I learned about a dozen mushrooms to eat when living in Washington state and a few more in Arizona but don’t eat just anything. I loved Grandma’s log cabin but it sadly didn’t stay in the family. I didn’t see the eclipse as it was cold outside and warm in bed. #1911 for next week.
I have two favorites this week Whiskers and your Grandmothers lake house. #3775 for next week please.
Good choices. #3775 for next week.
My favorite this time is the elephant walking down the road. So very cool. I’ll choose 2045, for the date it will probably be before I ever get to Africa. Lemme see…I will be 100 years old.
If you make it to 100 years old, which is highly possible, you deserve to visit South Africa. #2045 for this week.
This post has so many pictures I really like and want to comment on. Great choices! So first, a hot water pool sounds and looks divine! Especially as it gets below freezing here where I am stuck and hate winter. What a beautiful cat! I just hate to think of him in a “museum” The powerful elephant coming straight towards you must have been an equally powerful experience. Love that you included three of my favorite things at the end – waterfalls and boy is that a beauty, mushrooms and wow did you eat it? And you of course looking very fine. It’s a hard decision about my favorite so I’ll say those last two and my picture. You couldn’t have chosen better for me than that fantastic cabin. How wonderful to have a grandmother named Bea who had such a wonderful cabin. I just love that picture and how terrific it must have been for you as a child. Lucky lucky. Is it still there even if your family no longer owns it. If it weren’t in winter cold Wisconsin I’d love to live there. It looks perfect to me. I did so well with #2 last week I’ll just try #3 for next week.
Living in a RV means soaking in hot water is a very special treat, as you know. I’d love to have a hot tub especially during winter. Hope you aren’t stuck freezing all winter. The cougar, and another, had been someone’s pet trying to raise from cubs and ended up at the facility never to roam free but providing an opportunity to talk to people about keeping wildlife wild. Grandma’s cabin is still there and I have a friend who has sent photos of it more recently with a fresh coat of paint. I did eat that Lobster mushroom, and many others as well. #3 for this week.
I am so enjoying your retirement and your progress! Good work.
Thanks.
I love our cougar! The species we have here in Florida are called “panthers”, can you believe that? And they are endangered. I would love to see one in the wild, but it is probably a good thing they are hiding better than that…… so many wonderful pictures today — of course the elephant. And your grandma’s cabin! . And that mushroom! Oh my gosh!! Was it delicious? Quck before I forget (although # of words gave me a great picture) let me choose 1128. It’s our anniversary!
Thanks. Cougar, panther, Mt lion, all pretty much the same cat. I’ve only seen one in the wild once. Pretty elusive and more likely they see us than us them. But that’s OK. That mushroom was delicious along with the many other species collected for eating and drying. #1128 for this week.
Whiskers wins my fav. The story link with Grandma Bea’s cabin was a very good read. Thanks for sharing that. And that mushroom! At first glance, without my readers, I thought you were holding your hat! Lol Next week #1202
Thanks. The cabin was amazing the mushroom delicious. #1202 for this week.
I love that old school cabin. It looks very rustic yet perfect.
1944 next week!!
Yes, rustic. Running water was from the lake and potable was hauled. It did have indoor plumbing. #1944 for this week.
Hello Gaelyn, sorry I missed last Friday. Somehow – not sure how! I only remembered Friday Foto Fun when I saw you comment on my Facebook post today, Jo
No big deal.
