This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by 10 readers including stained glass, slot canyons, and ancient rock.
Cathy chose #3476. A giant metal sculpture dragon at Galleta Meadows by Ricardo Breceda in Borrego Springs, California.
Alan chose #8191. A short but sweet slot canyon along the White Domes Trail at Valley of Fire State Park, Nevada.
Sue chose #29 for the morning temperature in Winnemucca last week. Must have been warmer than that with butterflies around, though these are some of my earliest stained glass projects in 1980.
Gypsy chose #5420, “date of move to my current abode.” This slot canyon was visited when my camper abode was in Anza Borrego Desert State Park in California. Note the boulder wedged in at the top.
Diane and Nigel chose #110. An ancient Puebloan basket in the museum at Mesa Verde National Park, Colorado from when I worked there in 2005.
Rita chose #88. More stained glass now from 1987 when I was teaching the craft in Wenatchee, Washington.
Sherry chose #605. I love the shape of skeletal trees. This one seen along Bright Angel Point trail on the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park.
Jennifer got #11 for the number of words in her last week’s comment. Yet another stained glass piece I designed and built in 1980, my ex-husband made the wooden frame.
Jeff chose #672, “for the 6.72 inch shortfall” of San Diego’s water year that just ended. Don’t see much water in southern Utah but that’s how Buckskin Gulch slot canyon formed from flowing water.
Jo chose #9576. Most amazing sandstone features seen along the hike to the Wave.

Pretty sure the dragon is my favorite this week. I visited the sculptures but don’t remember this amazing face. Ho about 1002 for the day we returned home.
The dragon is my favorite of the sculptures. #1002 for next week.
Again I like all the photos, and really like your skeleton tree. But the Borrego Dragon reminds me that Borrego Days will be coming. For next week I’d like 1023 for Borrego Days beginning October 23rd.
Thanks. Are you going to Borrego Days? I tend to avoid festivals anymore. #1023 for next week.
I love the slot canyon shots and the skeletal tree.
5120 for next week!!
Thanks. #5120 for next week.
We love the dragon, and of course the slot canyon, but personally my favourite is your fabulous stained glass unicorn, Sorry short visit today as we are away for 4 days further South. 810 for next week please.
Hugs from both of us, take care and keep safe, Diane and Nigel
Thanks. I was really into unicorns in the 80s when I started doing stained glass. Hope you’re having fun. #810 for next week.
Love my metal dragon. Of course I followed the link which lead me to another link. Someone spent a lot of time placing rocks for the snake. Really cool !! I need to visit this area!! Next week 1014
I highly recommend Anza-Borrego for many awesome opportunities. #1014 for next week.
Hi Gaelyn, those butterflies are quite pretty and I love to see skeleton trees,we have one in Crete which is thousands of years old of course its the “olive” tree. your work on stained glass is just exceptional and I particularly like the horse Favourite this week Buckskin Gulch Canyon formed from flowing water which is amazing. No 88 for next week please. Happy weekend.
Thanks. My grandfather who also did stained glass told me never make just one suncatcher. I listened, but was more into larger projects as a rule. #88 for next week.
I think the dragonhiu would be a cool photo to put in the calander
Thanks. I believe it was a contender several years ago.
This post is full of gorgeous art. Those giant metal sculptures are amazing. Another thing you have fantastic pictures of that you’ve put on my bucket list. David would have loved them. I’m so sorry we didn’t get to visit. Ditto for Mother Nature’s slot canyons. I love your pictures, they are on my bucket list and I’m sorry David never got to see them.
You too are quite an artist. Your stained glass is wonderful. All the pieces are beautiful. The wooden frame enhances your lovely unicorn. I wonder where they are all hanging today. I had no idea you were a teacher. And of course the ancient basket, such a marvelous design, a work of art beyond words. What a great post this was Gaelyn. Let me try # 1625 for next week.
Thanks. I’ve been through so many different arts and crafts over the years.
All the metal sculptures are fantastic but my favorite is the dragon. So many things to see and do in so little time.
#1625 for this week.
Love the skeleton tree – they always have such character and great stories. I’d love to have stained glass in our new front door 🙂 Glad to see you’ve got coverage in Skull Valley!
1816 for next week please
I’ll bet you could commission a local stained glass artist for your door. Signal is better here than at Bryce. #1916 for this week.
Dear Gaelyn, I LOVE Hike the wave and I love the skeletal trees. My number for this week is 9564. Have a great day. Jo xx
Thanks. #9564 for this week.
