This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by nine readers including Toroweap, lots of rock, a little water, sunsets, and some wildlife.
Diane and Nigel chose #2409. As the sun sank in the west Earth’s shadow showed to the east from Tuweep overlook on the north side of Grand Canyon.
Rita chose #69. From a 1988 art class in Wenatchee, Washington, this ink drawing of a Grey Wolf. Sure glad I scanned all the old photos I had.
Sue chose #2321, “for the day we missed you at Bryce.” The miss was not by much. This shot from late in the day and pre-sunset also at Tuweep from the same day as above in 2010.
Doris chose #9756. Sunset with crepuscular rays taken from the Wedding Site at Cape Royal on the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park in June 2017, where it’s not always about the canyon.
Cathy chose #1442. Bison/cattle hybrids, often called beefalo, can sometimes be seen in the meadows along the drive into the North Rim Grand Canyon.
Jo chose #9519. This pinnacle of rock at Augrabies Falls National Park, South Africa seems to provide good roost for many birds.
Gypsy chose #1008. An inviting place to swim in the pool at the base of Havasu Falls.
Alan chose #6342. He most recently took a vacation to the beach in Alabama, not South Africa where this was shot. Loved watching the Indian Ocean waves at Tsitsikamma National Park.
Sherry chose #1913. Another shot from Tuweep same visit as above.
My choice is the amazing view I have to the west even on a cloudy afternoon. More coming about my new home.
Thank you for playing along with Foto Friday Fun which allows me to share these photographs and memories. For more of the story just follow the links. Please join in next week by leaving a number between 0001 and 9999 in your comment.
Do you have a favorite this week?
Thanks for the memories

Such a gorgeous selection of shots this week making it very hard to pick a favorite. But I think I’ll go with the first pic. Tuweep & Toroweap are magnificent. Grey Wolf – what a talented sketch! Next time #3476
Thanks. I haven’t been to Toroweap in way too long. #3476 for next week.
That first shot is spectacular!! 8191 for next week
Thanks. #8191 for next week.
The one I got was my favorite. We missed you but next year when you park in our driveway will make up for it. In Winnemucca this am at 29 degrees. Looking forward to home tonight.
I do plan on your driveway next year but am hoping you’ll make it back to the desert this winter. I’m giving you #29 for that ridiculously cold morning. Safe travels.
Wonderful. Gorgeous colors from Tuweep. I’d not seen beefalo, at least not that I knew was looking at. I love the fresh water of crashing waves and from my pick in Havasu, but favorite is your ink piece. Howwwl. Talking about moves, how about #5420, date of move to my current abode. Thanks and looking forward to yours.
Thanks. I haven’t done any drawing in a very long time. Photos are easier. 😉 This place is truly like heaven. #5420 for next week.
We love our shot, and the sketch of the wolf is superb well done. The sunset is fab with the rays, and we would love to be sitting on the rocks at Tsitsikamma looking out over that view.
I looked up the ranch on the internet where you are now and it looks a lovely spot but looking forward to hearing more about it from you. 110 for next week please.
Keep safe and have a good weekend. Hugs Diane and Nigel.. .
Thanks. I would gladly join you at Tsitsikamma. But the ranch is good too just without water. 😉 #110 for next week.
Hi Gaelyn, Gorgeous photo’s and quite different from the usual. Love the one of the Bison on the North Rim Grand Canyon. Fav for this week that lovely sunset at Cape Royal North Rim Grand Canyon Nat Park. Would like No 88 for next week please. Have a good weekend and stay safe.
Thanks. Always love sunsets. #88 for next week.
I had no idea you were such a great artist. I am so envious and absolutely love your wolf picture. Please post more of your drawings and do more. I’d give anything to have that ability to draw what I see in the natural world. And yes, I’ve taken lessons over and over but simply do not “see” in the way that is necessary to reproduce.
Not sure what I think about the idea of “beefalo”. The Havasu Falls base pool picture looks so inviting. Have you gone swimming there? Definitely anxious to hear about your new home and the start of your new life. I’ll try 605 for next week.
Thanks. I took every art class I could in high school and many more in junior colleges thinking it could lead to a career. Drawing was fun, painting I just make mud. Then I discovered photography and I know the art helps with that.
The Bison hybrids are prolific and destroying meadows and waterholes on the North Kaibab. Five government agencies try to figure out what to do. Need say no more.
I hiked into Havasu Canyon and waded in the pools of blue-green water.
#605 for next week.
Finally, I made it in. I’m having computer problems! Wonderful photos.
Thanks. Glad you made it. Hope the problems can be easily solved.
San Diego’s water year ended last week with less than half our average. For next week I’d like 672 for the 6.72 inch shortfall.
Boy, that’s bad. #682 for next week.
Dear Gaelyn,, I’m late but here I am. thank you for my choice of the Augrabies area. I love the sketch of the wolf! My number for next week is 9576 (I’m using group codes in my Weigh-Less groups – these are what I am busy with most of the week!) Watching this space for your new home post. Jo
Thank you. #9576 for this week.
