This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by 10 readers including rock and slot canyons, full moon, family and me.
Rita chose #1107. Visited Death Valley National Park for the February 2016 Super Bloom. No flowers in sight looking way down on the Badwater Basin from Dante’s View.
Cathy chose #0058. Just a crescent of sun shows while exiting the annular eclipse seen 5-20-12 from the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park.
Diane and Nigel chose #17. Ever the funny man, my Dad, Mom, and Aunt Kay (Dad’s sister) on the beach at San Padre Island during a visit to Texas in March 2005.
Jo chose #13, “my lucky number.” From American folklore at the Trees of Mystery in California, presumably life size Paul Bunyon and Babe the Blue Ox, visited in June 2002. Fence and light poles are normal size.
Gypsy chose #1210, “for the date my Golden Doodle Sandy May came to be with me again.” She is such a wonderful smart dog who would know to stay out of the cactus seen on the flanks of the Weaver Mountains not far from where they live in Arizona.
Jeff chose #1810, “for the first time ever two teen gals played for the US Open final. The 18 year old from the UK beat the 19 year old from Canada. It was close.” It was also close walls of rock when hiking in parts of a slot canyon along Willis Creek.
Jennifer gets #0006. Arriving to work on the North Rim Grand Canyon 4-26-15 provided a morning view of much white.
Wanda chose #24. A seven month old me.
Doris chose #758. Although not taken the first time I visited, I still remember my disbelief seeing meadows and forest along the drive into the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park across the Kaibab National Forest of northern Arizona.
Sallie and Bill chose #927. Another Utah slot canyon, Wire Pass on the way to Buckskin Gulch hiked 10-22-11.
My choices from September’s full moon are considerations for the September 2022 calendar. Which one do you prefer?

Do you have a favorite this week?
Thanks for the memories
Wow just love those full moon shots but the Utah slot canyon and a white North Rim are close behind. Loved our shot, good to ‘meet’ your family and you look pretty cute at 7 months.
Hope that you are taking it easy, hugs from us both Diane and Nigel.
2409 for next week please if you have internet of course!
Thank you and thank goodness I got to successfully shoot one full moon this summer. I puttered around inside and out today but still not quite “settled”. Soon. I might have better signal here than Bryce. #2409 for next week.
Love the fun photo Trees of Mystery from American Folklore. The mist on the North Rim Grand Canyon certainly looks spooky. but my fav and for a Calender photo is the last one of the full moon showing through the rocks. have a good weekend Gaelyn. No 69 for next week please..
Thanks. Was overwhelmingly happy to catch the moon through the hoodoo window. #69 for next week.
Amazing that you still managed a foto friday post with all you have been doing this week. I love the wirepass photo most of all but the moon shots are great, of course. Who knows where I will be next Friday….pretty sure somewhere on the road, but I will choose 2321 for the day we missed you at Bryce.
You had service AND time to make the Friday Post. Love keeping up with you! Had to double check my photo this week compared to last week to make sure I didn’t ask for the same #…. lol. I like Wire Pass, North Rim and of the two Moon shots I think the 1st one. Something about that huge rock drawing my eye. Next week 1442
I was able to schedule this post a few days early. Same numbers, which happens regularly, gets a different photo. I have so many. #1442 for next week.
Fortunately I scheduled this post a few days ahead of time. I am bummed about missing you at Bryce. Yet I know wherever you are Friday will be spectacular, because that’s the way you roll. #2321 for next week.
Wire pass my favorite this week. I think the last moon picture is best for this years calendar. #9756 for next week please.
I believe the moon through hoodoo window will be in this year’s calendar. Now I have to get it put together and order so I can ship. #9756 for next week.
Oh my word, Gaeyn, your last moon shot is brilliant. My favorite as is the photo of you at seven months. I’m fascinated by Trees of Mystery and lifesize images. My number for next week is 9519. Have a great week .JO
Thank you. Paul Bunyon was said to be a giant. #9519 for next week.
The last moon shot is spectacular; maybe just me, but looks like sitting inside a microscope. BUT I’ll go with the first moon shot and if I’m evening up the vote, you’re still it Gaelyn. I love your young black and white. My dad’s name was Willis. I’ll request #1008 for next time. I was wondering too if there’s been many repeat #s:)
thanks much and all take care on the road, Gypsy
Thanks. I’m just glad to have gotten any moon shots this cloudy season. Frequently numbers repeat but I have 100s and 1000s of photos. #1008 for next week.
I love the moon shots especially!! 6342 for next week.
Thanks. Finally got to see the moon this summer. #6342 for next week.
Wow that’s a great picture of Death Valley. It looks like it has snow. Is February the time to go to see the super bloom which I assume doesn’t happen every year. I hope the fires aren’t affecting the frequency. Fantastic picture of the orange sliver of moon. I vote it a calendar picture. Loved seeing the pictures of your parents and cute you as a baby. Can’t believe the size of Paul Bunyon and Babe. Good grief! Oh those slot canyons!! I’m beginning to despair I’ll ever get to see them. But those last two pictures are both fantastic. There is no possible way to choose. I vote BOTH. Looks like I missed last week. Not sure how but I’ll go back and see. I’d like # 1913 for next week please.
The salt flats in Death Valley do sometimes look like snow. If they get enough early winter rain there could be flowers. #1913 for next week.
I looked up on my logs and since Death Valley blooms was mentioned, I was there in Feb 2005 and it was glorious super-bloom at that time after torrential rains. We found out some road closures AFTER we traveled road to and up Hunter’s Pass. We hit snow, came down and lost back shocks over miles of washboard road. Memorable and wonderful place.
