This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by 12 readers including history, hikes, and a request for critters that brought out many species mostly from South Africa.
Cathy chose #0011. I felt fortunate to see and photography most of the May 2012 partial annular eclipse, this is an entry shot, at the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona.
Lisa chose #1005. In 2010, my first visit to South Africa and first sighting of lions on safari at Kruger National Park.
Doris chose #7174. Look closely for the chicks following Mom Ostrich through the brush at Karoo National Park, South Africa.
Diane and Nigel chose #109. This painting on the wall at the Mesa Verde National Park museum provides an artists rendition of life in the Cliff Palace dwelling of the Ancestral Puebloans.
Wanda chose #7880. Warthogs at Addo Elephant National Park during a return visit in 2014. My first visit I saw so many warthogs I thought the park should be renamed.
Rita chose #9011. The hike to the Wave is not along a designated trail, instead it’s directional to landmarks. Like that shadowed crack in the rocky distance.
Jeff chose #911, “lest we forget.” There is so much of history we should not forget, some more important than others perhaps. This historic charcoal kiln in Death Valley National Park is part of the west’s history.
Sherry chose #9721. Being an long-time RV traveler I’m not sure this set up would work for her any better than me. I like glamping in a little more style. Although this is a stylish set up up. Seen at the Yarnell Car Show in 2015.
Gypsy asked for a critter photo after seeing her first this summer scorpion. The oldest critter photo I found is my childhood dog Adolph with Mom on New Years Eve 1969 in Downers Grove, Illinois. He looks as drunk as my Mom probably was. Then I found a scorpion shot taken in Kruger National Park South Africa that looks very different to our Arizona Barks, but could still put a wampum on you.
Sallie and Bill chose #0514. Two hippos swimming towards each other seen at Pilanesberg Game Reserve, South Africa.
Jo chose #9082. Another landmark look getting closer to the Wave. Do you see where?
Alan chose #174. My first rim to rim hike across Grand Canyon in 2008. I’d been told to get through The Box in Bright Ange Canyon before the heat of the day. Thank goodness this was early May because I had to dawdle along the way.
My choices from your numbers. First #0514 watching the moon and reverse sunset from the beach in Bandon, Oregon the end of October 2014, the last time I’ve been to the ocean. And second #7880 because I wanted to see it processed, brilliant Paintbrush flowers at Marble View overlook in the North Kaibab National Forest, Arizona. And the last from 2017, Autumn gold Aspen on the Kaibab National Forest.
Thank you for playing along with Foto Friday Fun which allows me to share these photographs and memories. For more of the story just follow the links. Please join in next week by leaving a number between 02 and 99 in your comment. Yea, I changed it up again.
Do you have a favorite this week?
Thanks for the memories
WOW I love all these photo’s Gaelyn and it’s difficult to choose a favourite. Love the Lions at Krugar Nat Park. My. Favourite is The Puebloans Cliff Dwelling at Mesa Verda National Park, great painting. No 1107 for next week please. Enjoy your weekend.
Thanks. I thought you’d like that painting of the cliff dwelling. #1107 for next week.
Golden Aspens would be my favorite this week. Didn’t spy much beginnings of the color change last weekend at North Rim but it’s just around the corner! Next week 0058
I saw touches of color on the Aspen yesterday on SR14 at the pass. #0058 for next week.
Fascinating post and we love our. shot. It seems that the Puebloans actually build under over hanging rocks where as the Troglodytes (French cave dwellers) actually lived in the caves. In fact there are still a few cave dwellers around but to visit these caves you have to go on a Tour and walking on uneven ground would not work for N. 17 for next week please.
Have a good working weekend, hugs from us both Diane and Nigel.
Thanks. The Puebloans did build on top for a while then went to the caverns that aren’t very deep. Of course these are tour only. My last working weekend. 🙂 #17 for next week.
Hi Gaelyn, the aspens are my favorite and the Paintbrush flowers really caught my eye. Please give me number 13 this week, my lucky number. Have a great week. Jo
#13 it is.
All awesome:) That scorpion looks large. I love the ending fauna. #1210 please for date my Golden Doodle Sandy May came to be with me again, and I’m looking forward to #13 as it is also my favorite number. love, gypsy
Thanks. That scorpion was about 2 inches long. #1210 for next week. And scratches for Sandy May.
I really like your pictures from your hike to The Wave, a place I’ll enjoy vicariously. For next week I’d like 1810, for the first time ever two teen gals played for the US Open final. The 18 year old from the UK beat the 19 year old from Canada. It was close 🙂
Thanks. The entire landscape around the Wave is worthy of more exploration, which I might not get either. #1810 for next week.
No faves. They are all amazing.
Thanks Jenn.
The paintbrush photo is my favorite this week. And the route to the Wave photos are also great. Number 24 for next week please
Let’s just say that Warthogs have a very interesting…head. The Aspens are a show stopper for me. #758 for next week please.
Warthogs are rather like our Javelina. The fall aspen are amazing. #758 for next week.
Thanks. #24 for next week.
Oh wow, that last series is so pretty and colorful, just love that. And so happy with our hippos swimming toward each other (aww, so sweet ;))!) Love the lions, kindia’ neutral about the wart hogs — they sound like the way we felt about antelopes after seeing about a million of them on one trip. The first ones were exciting. After a while it was just like seeing cows! … that hike without paths or markers would have been beyond me even back when I was young enough to do the distance. I would have got lost I’m sure. Shiver! But it is so beautiful, thanks for sharing it and all of your adventures as always. I’ll try 927 next week if you have room.
Thanks. In Africa, Impalas are the seen them too often animal. #927 for this week.
Well I’m too late to make #434 but I do love the picture you chose for me. Great colors but like you, I doubt I could travel in it. Absolutely love the African Animals in this weeks pictures.
Thanks for catching up. I am way behind reading. And hope to catch up writing soon. Be well.
