This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by 12 readers including canyons, plants, rivers, and a partial eclipse.
Cathy chose #0532. During training before the 2015 season began at the North Rim Grand Canyon staff went to the South Rim and I saw this view of marble Canyon.
Doris chose #693. My first visit to a slot canyon in May 2009 blew me away as I entered Wire Pass on the the way to Buckskin Gulch Canyon, Utah.
Lisa chose #6935. The blooms on this Forest White Sugarbush were at least 4” across. Just one of many colors of Protea I saw traveling in South Africa.
Wanda chose #8630. Another South Rim view of Grand Canyon from Desert View Watchtower when celebrating my birthday with a friend. Would have loved that Raven’s view soaring over the Colorado River.
Jodee and Bill chose #1944. Visiting Zion National Park with Pat, we walked along the Virgin River.
Gypsy chose #69, “ a great year for music to me.” 1984 was a great year for me and my arts and crafts store. Not like I made money at it, but sure was fun to work on my stained-glass craft, knit, crochet, help sell other people’s creations, and paint the storefront window for special occasions like this for our Founder’s Day Rodeo and parade in Tonasket, Washington.
Diane and Nigel chose #309. I saw these cocoons in the Quaking Aspen my first season working at the North Rim Grand Canyon in June 2008. Turns out they are full of Western Tent Caterpillars that turn to moths.
Jo chose #7275, “courtesy of random dot org.” My January 2016 winter window view while staying at Crazy Horse RV Park in Kanab, Utah prompted me to plan for a warmer climate in southern Arizona.
Sue got #0090 from her last comment about visiting the Coral Pink Sand Dunes in the 90s when it was a quiet place. It was almost eerily quiet during the Partial Annular Eclipse I watched from the North Rim Grand Canyon on 5-20-12.
Alan chose #6093. These sweet little mushrooms caught my eye while walking the Suspension Bridge trail in Tsitsikamma National Park, South Africa.
Rita chose #777. A Grand Canyon perspective from rafting on the Colorado River approaching Lava Falls Rapid.
Sallie and Bill chose #0001. Look closely for the Heron in this Tecopa, California wetland located near to Death Valley National Park.
My choice from Doris’ number 693 because I wanted to process it. I love clouds and storms so monsoon season during July 2009 afforded many opportunities for awesome skies. This storm cell moved north behind Sky Island over the Grand Canyon as seen from Walhalla Overlook on the North Rim’s Cape Royal Road.
Thank you for playing along with Foto Friday Fun which allows me to share these photographs and memories. For more of the story just follow the links. Please join in next week by leaving a number between 0002 and 0999 in your comment. Yea, I changed it up.
Do you have a favorite this week?
Thanks for the memories
Lots of good pics. I like Raven the best and the snowy Crazy Horse RV is a pretty scene. I don’t want to drive in that white stuff much anymore but don’t mind an occasional dose of it. Next week # 0011.
Thank you. I too don’t want to experience the white stuff anymore. #0011 for next week.
Your Zion scene is so tranquil…wish I were there now. I can’t believe the South African sage. Wow! Number 1005 for next week!
I don’t imagine Zion looks near as tranquil right now with so many visitors. #1005 for next week.
Interesting cloud formations in your pic. But, my favorite is the slot canyon pic. I just have a thing for slot canyons. #7174 for next week please.
Thanks, I do love clouds. Slot canyons are intriguing. #7174 for next week.
As always a fab set of photos and we love your choice but whenever there is a slot canyon you have us hooked, it has to be a favourite. Having said that we are also intrigued by our photo. Here in France we have dangerous Pine Processionary caterpillars that form web like cocoons. The hairs from the caterpillars are extremely dangerous, they can easily kill both animals and small children if eaten, or their spines are inhaled, and will leave you with a hefty vet bill if your animals come into contact with the spines! They also compromise the health of trees, I have seen them is gardens down the road, I am amazed they have not had them removed but it really is a job for professionals.
109 for next week please. Take care and have a good working weekend. Hugs form us both. Diane and Nigel.
Thank you. The Western Tent caterpillars can kill a tree if too many cocoons occur but otherwise are not dangerous like those, thank goodness. #109 for next week.
My favorite this week is the rafting on the Colorado. It looks so peaceful. Next week 7880 please
Rafting the Colorado River can be peaceful but also full of fun on the rapids. #7880 for next week.
Love all these photo’s, such a nice variety Gaelyn. Looks a pleasant walk along the Virgin River at Zion Nat Park and I love the painting for the Founders day Rodeo. My fav is the one I chose this week Rafting on the Colorado River.,always fancied rafting myself but never got aro7und to it. Too late now !! No 9011 for next week please. Have a great weekend.
Thanks. Rafting the Colorado River was a lifetime event and I’d do it again, if it weren’t so expensive. #9011 for next week.
So many great canyon pictures this week. No favorite, as I have enjoyed them all. For next week I’ll take 911, lest we forget. It’s also the day we back up the RV to leave Ohio!
Thank you. Be safe on the return journey. #911 for next week.
So many great pictures AGAIN. So Hard to choose. The grand canyon with raven is fantastic and so is it from water level. That first picture of marble canyon from the south rim may be my favorite. How wonderful that you got to spend so many summers there. I wish. . . . .
Also really like those delicate Forest White Sugarbush flowers and love the green in Zion along the Virgin river. Such wonderful pictures this week. It appears I was too over whelmed with problems to comment last Friday. I had long driving days from Vermont and a HUGE problem when I got back to Virginia which I don’t want to take up room on your blog with. But those are my excuses for missing last week but I’m going back now to take a look. How about 9721 for next week? A black day.
Thanks. No bad views of Grand Canyon. And yes, I am fortunate to have been there so long. Sorry to hear of problems.
Seeing and reading of caterpillars reminds me, hadn’t seen a scorpion all summer, in or out; then recently reached down to pick up some floor debris and it scampered off. Will wear glasses next time. Please show us a critter photo 🙂 Gypsy
I hate scorpions! See what you get for critter.
We haven’t been to Death Valley in years! We spent a Spring Vacation camping there and always meant to go back, but never have. So ours was a fun choice for the memories. Favorite is your monsoon sky. Try 0514 next week?
It’s been too long for me too. Maybe this winter. #0514 for this week.
What a brilliant image in your last photo. I love your post and for the image my number brought up, I am choosing 9082. Have a great day. Jo
Thanks. #9082 for this week.
Love them all. Really enjoyed the rain storm over sky island photo. Number 174 for next week.
Thanks. Enjoy your beach time. #174 for this week.
