This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by 14 readers including sand and snow, rock and trees, South African wildlife, and Ranger me.
Jennifer chose #8888. Freyas Castle and the Vishnu Temple as seen from Walhalla overlook on the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park.
Jeff chose #3301, “the number of your next post.” Which was the last post. And there was also a post about hiking to the Palm grove in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, California. A place Jeff visits often.
Doris chose #9752. Sandstone at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park, Utah.
TreDeuce chose #1113. Flowering Brittlebush seen on a hike in the Weaver Mountains near my old stomping grounds in Yarnell, Arizona.
Sue chose #924, “for the day that we plan to drive from Blanding to Newspaper Rock and the Needles.” Yet another visit to Coral Pink Sand Dunes, one in a three shot panorama. And a bonus of me at the dunes.
Wanda chose #1254. My second season 2009 at the North Rim Grand Canyon, the meadows outside the park on the national forest where snow was melting. Never knew what to expect on that April drive before the park was open.
Diane and Nigel chose #2808. They are currently on holiday at the shore but have taken holiday at Grand Canyon where this shot was taken of a cloud filled canyon.
Jo chose #2500, “an amount I won in a radio competition this evening! Very exciting.” I guess. Congrats to her. Not quite as exciting was this presunset blast of sunrays in front of the Vallecito Mountains in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, California seen 12-30-14.
Cathy chose #2170. Note the 3 million year old lava flow to the right that stopped the Colorado River as seen from Tuweep overlook Grand Canyon National Park.
Jodee and Bill chose #9955. This Marsh terrapin was begging for food at the bird hide in Pilanesberg Game Reserve, South Africa. Bonus shot because I liked it was my RV window view at the North Rim Grand Canyon taken 7-23-08.
Gypsy asked for a sunset. With many thousands to choose from I tried for the oldest though there are many missing years. Just so happens this shot was taken in the town of Congress where she lives 3-21-06, so let’s see if she can identify from where. Then I dug deeper and the oldest I could find from 1974, probably an Instamatic camera print later scanned. A magnificent sunset from where I grew up in Downers Grove, Illinois. A actually climbed out my bedroom window, walked carefully across the decorative balcony, and maneuvered onto the garage roof including over the peak and sat watching this show for what seemed like hours.
Rita chose #0196. Probably bought during the first thrift store run of fall 2014 with Berta. I collect sterling silver jewelry and call it my retirement, but not sure that means I’m ready to part with any of it yet.
Alan chose #8226. This pair appeared amorous at Addo Elephant National Park, South Africa.
Sallie and Bill chose #555. This dry wash is the Wirepass Trail to Buckskin Gulch slot canyon on the Utah/Arizona border.
While searching for sunsets I came upon this shot of Ranger me first season at the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park from 7-23-08.

Thanks for the memories
Lookin’ good at the Dunes! And of course I like my Grand Canyon lava flow picture. Next week # 0532
Thanks. #0532 for next week.
How ‘bout #693 for next week.
OK, #693 for next week.
Love the sunsets. That turtle is smiling! Number 6935 for next week.
Posing terrapin trying to be fed. As bad as the chipmunks in our parks. #6935 for next week.
I had to look several times to figure out the turtle pic. Next week #8630 please
Ah, made you work for that one. 😉 #8630 for next week.
Love my terrapin!! What a sweet face. That pink sunset is spectacular and your pic is so cute. Of course gotta love the elephants :-))
1944 for next week please.
The terrapins beg like squirrels. #1944 for next week.
I’d never known or seen of that lava flow so very nice. Welll, I’ll guess that sunset that seemed to go on forever may have been taken from atop the tall mound, off Ghost Town Rd westside of Hwy71? I just thought of the song In the Year 2525, so how about #69, the year it came out and great year for music to me. thanks gaelyn
The shot was taken from Nichols West parking lot except back then it was called something else. #69 for next week.
Just got home so trying to get sorted out. Not a shot here we do not like, love ours, but the elephants have to take the prize 🐘😉 Think I said 309 for next week when I was not sure if I would get to comment.
Keep safe Hugs D & N
I look forward to reading about your holiday. Thanks for checking in here. Can’t beat elephants. #309 for this week.
Hi Gaelyn, OMW that my number brought up an image of sunrays. These always remind me of Grant; he called them angel wings! I love the pink sand dunes and the pink sunset is stunning. I met you on Blogger in 2008, so your photo of you, the ranger, takes me back to those days. My number for next week 7275 courtesy of Random.oorg. Have a great week. Jo
I love the name angel wings and shall think of Grant whenever I see them in the future. Hard to believe I’ve stuck to blogging so long. #7275 for this week.
Can’t believe I got lucky enough to get a panorama…a fabulous one at that….with a great photo of you! I like my choice this time most of all. Last time we were at the Coral Pink Sand Dunes it was completely overrun with 4 wheelers. Didn’t make for a very pleasant visit. I did see it once in the late 90’s and not a soul was there that time.
Thanks. I detest those noisy OHVs tearing up the land. Some of those dunes allow them and other areas not. I’m putting you down for #0090 for this week.
I love the amorous elephants. I also love your instamatic sunset and the backstory about crawling out the window. 6093 for next week!
Thanks. Fun memories you all help me find. #6093 for this week.
Hi Gaelyn, all superb shots this week but that’s no surprise as most of your photography is brilliant. Love the one of the 3 million year Lava Flow at Tuweep overlook Grand Canyon Nat Park. and the cloud filled canyon. But surprise !! My fav is the amorous Elephants. We watch a lot of the Nat Geographic Nature and Animal programs on T.V. ,thoroughly enjoyable. Hope all is well with you. No 777 for next week please.
Thank you. Glad you liked the elephants as I never tire of looking at them. #777 for this week.
Those elephants, oh my gosh! But I like “our” trail and the sunset series a lot also. And of course there is nothing at all that I don’t love. I have to see what 0001 is…or any very low number if somebody else already had the same idea.
Thank you. Lots of goodies last week. #0001 for this week.
I’m late and it’s too late to choose a number but I have to say that I love the two pictures of you. The one in front of the dunes is fantastic and I always love you in your ranger gear. Do you get to keep your hat??? Also love the marsh terrapin begging and of course those magnificent elephants. Sorry I missed these until now.
I am frequently late commenting on blogs either due to lack of time or signal. Thanks for coming better late than never. Yes, I get to keep the hat.
