This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by nine readers and in honor of “420” a bit of low clouds and fog that sort of look like smoke, plus a couple of beautiful places in South Africa, and me drinking the bath water.
Doris chose #6288. During the monsoon month of August it’s common to see the clouds settle into Grand Canyon swirling around the temples. I called this inversion the dragon’s breath.
Rita chose #7103. Another foggy view, though not as thick, seen out my RV window across the cemetery while living in Kanab, Utah in 2016.
Alan and random dot org chose #5843. Another low cloud inversion from August monsoon seen from the North Rim Grand Canyon.
Jo chose #3485. From Addo Elephant National Park, South Africa in 2013, I believe that’s the year Jo and I met.
Cathy chose #9008. More low clouds this time at sunset from the North Rim Grand Canyon. Hope she had some nice sunsets during her recent visit there.
Diane and Nigel got #30 for the degrees Centigrade last week. That’s 86°F, it’s been hovering around that for over a week at Bryce. But wouldn’t have been that warm during March 1955 when this was taken in my birth town of Hinsdale, Illinois.
Jeff chose #6921, “for Kg’s (eldest grandgirl) graduation date.” I’m giving him a Grand Canyon view of Mt Hayden from Point Imperial on the North Rim. Would make for a great graduation present Grandpa.
TreDeuce chose #1898, “B-date of my much loved and profoundly missed, paternal grandfather.” He’s been liking the SW desert photos and this shot could fool some. But it’s actually sandstone cliffs seen in Golden Gate Highlands National Park in South Africa.
Sherry chose #6152. Another South African location, the suspension bridge trail over the Storms River in Tsitsikamma National Park.
Nothing new from me this week as I’m working on a catchup post with the few photos I’ve taken recently. Instead I’m reaching back to March 2020 in Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, that I’ve just finished labeling.
Thank you for playing along with Foto Friday Fun which allows me to share these photographs and memories. For more of the story just follow the links. Please join in next week by leaving a number between 0001 and 9999 in your comment.
Do you have a favorite this week?
We just love our photo this week of you drinking in the bath, such a really cute photo. The favourite though has to go to the first photo of the dragon’s breath, that is incredible. What a fab memory to have,
1806 for next week please, yay we remembered! Hope you have a good weekend and some great weather. Hugs from us both. Nigel and Diane
I thought you’d like that baby shot. Inversion at the canyon was always spectacular, even if visitors didn’t think so. #1806 for next week.
I’ll be back soon. Great photos. Hugs to you
Take care of yourself please.
Incredible shots all especially the elephant. You were so cute way back when!! 5868 for next week from random dot org
Thanks. Guess that means not so cute now. 😉 #5868 for next week.
Dragon’s Breath is VERY cool !! Did not see it in person this trip. But never a bad trip to the North Rim.The air was so very crispy clear. Saturday morning I relished in the sunlight playing in the aspen leaves as well as up through the pines. Sunday got pretty people crowded and I found myself seeking shelter on the quiet of my cabin porch until checkout. Still NEVER a bad trip to the Canyon. Next week #0617 to welcome my new little nephew born this past Thursday.
Monsoon is my favorite time at the canyon. Hope we get that this year and I get to visit. Yet I also love the clatter of the Aspen. Nice to have a cabin porch to hide on. #0617 for next week.
Always enjoy the quality and variety of Foto-Friday-Fun. I do like my choice of The Canyon, and you’re right I do need to get Kg there! She gets Tahoe next month tho, not nearly as spectacular.
Nobody jumped on your mention of 420, hmmm … For next week I’d like 420, after all I have a Hookah Lounge to check out.
Hi Gaelyn, spectacular photos this week and such a variety, Why do elephants always look so sad I wonder. Maybe that’s what we all love about them. Cheeky one of you in the bath having fun. My fav is the elephant at Addo National Park. No 1133 for next week please. I’ll keep my fingers crossed and hope my number is one of the Grand Canyon. Hope all is well with you, Enjoy your weekend.
Thanks. I never saw elephants as sad, but this one does have something in its eye. #1133 for this week.
Hi Gaelyn, my choice is an up close image of ellie! I love the Grand Canyon vistas but the Storms River bridge is my absolute favorite this week. My number for next week is 2606. Have a great week. Jo
Next to seeing elephants, Tsitsikamma is my favorite place in SA. #2606 for this week.
