This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by nine readers including several foggy Grand Canyon views, a tall tower, mountains and canyons.
Cathy chose #9362. A prickly bouquet of Beavertail cactus in Congress, Arizona from 4-14-15.
Jo chose #2805, the day she received a Weigh-Less award. In this shot I was awarded a view through the low foggy clouds of the Colorado River curving around the Unkar Delta in the Grand Canyon seen from the North Rim 6-10-15.
Rita chose #4173. My dinning view of sunset at the Riviera Hartenbos along the Garden Route in South Africa 3-24-10.
Alan chose #2328. The 3000 foot view almost straight down to the Colorado River from Toroweap overlook on the North Rim of Grand Canyon during my first visit 9-27-10.
Jeff chose #528, “our 38th wedding anniversary.” Happy belated looking up at Grand Canyon’s North Rim Lookout Tower where presumably Edward Abbey hung out in the 60s. Of course I climbed it, back in 2009.
Diane and Nigel got #2905, because they always choose the date but forgot last week. This very unusual phenomenon called a Glory was seen on a foggy day from Cape Royal on the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park.
Sue chose #1997, “when I hiked Little Wildhorse with a good friend.” In 2010 I hiked in the Drakensburg Mountains of South Africa with a good blogger friend’s son.
Doris chose #172, “the miles I drove from my house to the Catskills last week.” A place I’ve only seen pictures of. The same could be said of the bottom of Grand Canyon until I hiked rim to rim the first time in 2008. This rather out of whack panorama was taken on the North Kaibab trail in The Box along Bright Angel Creek before reaching Phantom Ranch.
Sherry chose #6222. A fog shrouded view of Wotans Throne from Cape Royal on the North Rim Grand Canyon on 8-13-14.
My choice, a lazy sunset from the RV door. That’s what happens at the end of a 40-hour work week.

Do you have a favorite this week?
I cannot believe it is Friday, again! Great photos, as always. #1956
Me either. Thanks. #1956 for next week.
Thank you for my cheery morning greeting with my prickly pear cactus. Weather gives so many different versions to picture taking doesn’t it? That Glory is amazing! I had never heard that term before and the link was interesting too. Now I have something else to hope to be lucky enough to see! Next week #9121
You’re welcome. Glad you enjoyed this. #9121 for next week.
Wow! The monsoons in the Grand Canyon are high on my must-see list now. Very cool post, interesting read, and I love the glory picture! Number 1213 for next week please.
Monsoon is my favorite time of year at the canyon. #1213 for next week.
Bet it was a nice view from the top of the tower. Even though the math establishes all rainbows are a circle, and I have seen a complete circle in the clouds, it didn’t dawn on me it might be possible to see it from above … nice photo!
Tia Juana Tilly’s was opened in 1947, located across from our Tijuana dentist.
I could darn near see across the Grand Canyon from the top of the tower. I too had seen a full circle rainbow, but nothing like that. #1947 for next week.
I like all your shots, especially the “glory” shot this week. I love the firetower. My dad never worked in a firetower but we had family friends who did. I always loved climbing up and getting view. Glad I did it when I was young though. I love Edward Abbey’s books. I think the guy was a cantankerous genius.
random dot org gave me 1630 for next week.
btw, I glanced at your profile where it said you were semi-retired. You are the hardest working semi-retired person I know.
I agree about climbing towers and your assessment of Abbey too. Only retired half the year. #1630 for next week.
Ooops sorry about the number but glad you did not forget us! 406 for next week please, There can only be one favourite this week and that has to be our photo, amazing. Love the garden route sunset as well, but as always a great set of photos. Hope you have a good weekend, take care. Warm hugs from us both, Diane and Nigel
No worries. I’m just glad you keep coming back. Was a crazy busy holiday weekend that whizzed by. #406 for next week.
My favorite photo this week is of the Beavertail Cactus. How ‘bout #1016 fro next week. Thanks
Thanks. Flowers are nice. #1016 for this week.
Hi Gaelyn, I love Friday mornings. The first thing I do after breakfast is look at your Friday photo’s. It’s interesting to see other peoples choice as well as my own. Your hike up the Little Wild Horse looks positively dangerous. My fav this week is that lazy sunset from your RV door. No 1010 for next week please. Enjoy your weekend.
Thank you. Such a lovely compliment. Glad you liked the lazy sunset because I finally got to the rim for more. #1010 for this week.
Really like your “rather out of whack panorama” as well as the beautiful blooming cactus and the very creative spiritual looking (to me) cloudy Colorado. You do take some fantastic shots. How I would love to have climbed up that tower to be in a place where Cactus Ed even MIGHT have been. I am a HUGE fan! I don’t think I’ve ever tried #9999 so I’ll give it a whirl for next week.
PS – oh my, oh my ….. I did not have to put in my name or email or anything. It remembered me!!! How DID you do tha
Haven’t changed anything but it should have been doing that all along.
Thanks. Below Ed’s tower is/was a dilapidated cabin where he presumably lived. #9999 for this week.
No favorite this time, I have no clue how people pick favorites. Every landscape is so very different. The Drakensburg mountains are beautiful as always. Maybe I will go the opposite of Sherry and go 1111. 🙂
Sometimes it’s easier than others to pick a favorite, but then I like them all. #1111 for this week.
Uh-oh I am still in time to participate in your Friday post! The cacti blooms are really striking. I loved the bridge image you took on the Garden route. And the iconic Monks Cowl shot in the Drakensberg, My favorite is Wotan’s Throne. And ahem, I like being called a good Blogger but haven’t done much blogging these past months. At least I still get to join you! My number for next week is 1609. Have a great week. Jo
You’re in time. Thank you for being such a regular commenter. #1609 for this week.
