This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by 12 readers including real, rock, and metal animals, plus narrow canyons, and cloudy South African mountains.
Diane and Nigel chose #2105. I had to hunt just a bit for this large rock snake in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, California on Christmas day, 2014.
Yogi chose #2026, a two shot panorama. A summer hike in the South African Drakensberg Mountains brought heavy rain but it was warm enough to be comfortable as long we weren’t hit by lightning.
Lisa chose #1952. A reverse sunset looking upstream at Tuweep on the North Rim Grand Canyon.
Jo and random dot org chose #4235. A Blue Wildebeest seen in Kruger National Park South Africa.
Jennifer chose #4100. Seen earlier on the same day as above, not uncommon to catch lions sleeping on the warm pavement in the morning.
Rita chose #1198. This huge ant hill, about two feet across, in Berta’s driveway in Yarnell, Arizona intrigued me forever. It even came back after the 2012 fire. I love to watch ants. Am I crazy for that?
Sue chose #5921, “for the date of my second COVID shot.” Being she just visited “Crack in the Ground” in Oregon she might appreciate another crack called Bull Valley Gorge taken along the Skutumpah Road in Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument, Utah.
Jeff chose 1140, “the time Fran arrives back from Ohio.” And this shot is the time I put my life in somebody’s driving hands to ride in a dry wash to Antelope Canyon and tour the slot there.
Cathy chose #3406. A Tapir metal sculpture by Ricardo Breceda at Galleta Meadows in Borrego Springs, California, not far from the first shot of the rock snake, and only one of many sculptures.
Jodee and Bill chose #637. A delightful hike into Buckskin Gulch slot canyon in southern Utah. My favorite this week.
Sherry chose 8576. A view from the South Rim’s Moran Point at Grand Canyon National Park where I spent my birthday in 2015 with a friend. Not the first time I spent there for a birthday.
Sallie and Bill chose #1230. From last year, a look across Bryce Canyon’s main amphitheater over the hoodoos towards the high Inspiration Point overlook.
My choice, taken with the new phone, from the town of Panguitch about 30 minutes from Bryce where I went for my second Moderna COVID shot last Monday.
Thank you for playing along with Foto Friday Fun which allows me to share these photographs and memories. For more of the story just follow the links. Please join in next week by leaving a number between 0001 and 9999 in your comment. In addition, thank you for putting up with all my recent tech ranting. This post is going out from the old laptop. Why did I buy a new one again?
Do you have a favorite this week?
Happy to see Foto Friday Fun and lots of beautiful pictures this morning. I really like metal art so my critter is great! Along with the other critters this week from really big ant hills to really long snakes! 🥰 Tuweep. Next week #9362
Thanks. Wasn’t sure the post was going to make it. #9362 for next week.
The town of Panguich reminds me of Western Films so popular in my childhood, I love the hoodoos and other and the Canyon shots; anthill is my favorite. My number is 2805. Today’s date: I tried to go for my first Covid shot but the queues were horrendous and I had a dental appointment and a Zoom meeting as well. I aborted the vaccination attempt, the dental outing was successful and I received a Weigh-Less award via the Zoom meeting. So a mixed blessing day. Have a great week. Jo
Panguitch was settled in the late 1800s so definitely “old west”. Congrats on the award. #2805 for next week.
Hi Gaelyn some really great photo’s here. I particularly like those lovely lions sleeping on the pavement Fav this week is the reverse sunset at Tuweep on the North Rim Grand Canyon.Hope all is well at Bryce and you have settled in with no more connection problems. re – the updates !!! Take care and stay safe.No 4173 for next week please. Have a good weekend.
Thanks. I wish the problems were over, as I sit in the office to get WIFI. #4173 for next week.
All beautiful shots, especially the reverse sunset an the buckskin gulch shot.
2328 for next week
Keep on keeping on.
Thanks. I’m trying. #2328 for next week.
I agree with the other comments, all great photos again this week. I am partial to all the red sandstone. Until I read the caption I thought the slot canyon was Antelope Canyon, not Buckskin.
For next week I’d like today’s date 528, our 38th wedding anniversary.
Thanks. All the slots in southern UT and northern AZ are great. #528 for next week. Happy Anniversary, a day late.
Love that stone snake but then I like snakes anyway 😊 The tapir is brilliant. We have to admit though the shot that really catches our eye is once again the slot canyon, they never fail to make us look and look again and you always get the lighting perfect which makes such a huge difference.
We hope that you are settling into the season now and things are improving in every way. Take care and have a good day, hugs from us both Diane and Nigel.
Thanks. I know you like the slots. Holiday weekend was so busy today we had to close the park for over two hours as there was no place to park, anywhere.
Utah cracks in the ground are a lot more colorful than the basalt flow crack in Oregon! And somehow much less spooky, although my photo this time did look a bit spooky as well. Buckskin Gulch looked as beautiful as I imagine, and not at all spooky, my favorite this time. How about 1997, when I hiked Little Wildhorse with a good friend.
My favorite this week is the Buckskin Gulch shot. The flow of the side walls remind me of drapes. #172 for next week please, the miles I drove from my house to the Catskills last week.
I like the idea of draperies like the slots. And visiting the Catskills sounds divine. #172 for this week.
Glad to hear you are fully vaccinated now. Love that shot of the snake. He is on my bucket list along with Buckskin Gulch slot and the views from Tuweep. You do take fantastic pictures. I’ll try 6222 for next week.
Thanks. You also take fantastic photos. I love to see how different the places are you visit. #6222 for this week.
I really love our picture of your current workplace — I loved Bryce Canyon/. The lions in the road and the slot canyon are wonderful too — well everything is as always. Hooray for the second shot. I’m purposely not choosing a number because we’re heading off tomorrow for the wild outback of Eastern Oregon )) and might not have good internet connection for a while. I’ll catch up when we get home.
Thanks. Have fun and catch you on the rebound.
