This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by 12 readers including South African wildlife, sunsets, and trees.
Cathy chose #4818. The glory hole, a large furnace used to keep glass hot while shaping. Being I learned to blow glass in the 80s I was always fascinated watching Ramson Lomatewama, Hopi artist, at the North Rim Grand Canyon Heritage Days.
Diane and Nigel chose #3004. This Yaris replaced my Citi Golf rental after an accident in South Africa.
Sue chose #7721, “birthday of a good friend coming up.” This shot of elephants was taken during my birthday month of March in 2014 at Addo Elephant National Park, South Africa.
Jo and random dot org chose #6373. A tree she is probably familiar with, this ancient Yellowwood was seen at Wild Spirit Backpackers in Nature’s Valley, South Africa in February 2014.
Jeff chose #2012, “the year we saw the full Ring of Fire from Bryce Canyon.” And I saw it from the North Rim Grand Canyon. This shot of Tuweep at sunset looking upstream of the Colorado River was taken on the North Rim as well.
Alan chose #5660. An eight shot panorama of sunset from the Rockhouse Trail boondock (which I understand is not longer available) in Anza Borrego desert State Park, California on 2-23-15.
Sallie and Bill chose #5121. A pair of hyena pups seen in Kruger National Park during my 2014 visit.
Susie chose #6789. The reward at the end of the Waterfall Trail in Tsitsikamma National Park South Africa about a week after the above shot.
Jennifer chose #6998. Sunset at Cape Royal overlook was always a favorite place on the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park. (My favorite this week.)
Rita chose #4129. Nothing like a big kitty washing her feet. Kruger National Park South Africa 2-15-14.
Doris chose #9101. Amazing sandstone swirls of rock in the Coyote Buttes North in Arizona on the way to the Wave in Utah.
Sherry chose #7121. My RV window view in Kanab, Utah during January 2016.
My choice from from the end of last month along SR14 on the return drive from shopping in Cedar City. Pretty, but I’m sure you know how much I don’t like the cold. I haven’t taken any photos this month, so nothing new to share.
I may have solved some of the phone/laptop connection problem. But I was sitting in town so won’t know until I get home. If the problems persist I may stop posting as it’s just too much hassle to go away from home to find signal. Truly, all winter in the remote southern Arizona desert with almost no problems getting online. But once in Bryce, no go. Along with other issues, I’m not sure it’s worth being here.
Thank you for playing along with Foto Friday Fun for almost eight years. It’s been a fun ride sharing my photographs and memories.
Do you have a favorite this week?
Lovely set of South African photos and great for good memories but the Sunset at Cape Royal overlook has to be a favourite. What happened with the car accident in RSA?
You do not sound like you are very happy to be at Bryce this year, we hope things improve and the season gets better.
Take care and have a good weekend, hugs from us both Diane and Nigel.
Thanks. My favorite shot too. My first visit I was in a car accident. https://geogypsytraveler.com/2010/12/21/on-my-own-in-south-africa/ Sorry few links made it this week.
Thank you Gaeyn for sharing all of your wonderful memories with us. Foto Friday Fun is supposed to be fun for all of us including you. If issues persist we will all understand and be here for you as signals allow. Hoping Bryce gets better for you quickly. Allow yourself some thinking time. Hugs.
Thank you for sticking by me. Foto Friday Fun is fun, but not without a reliable signal.
My favourite is *MY* photo! You are the best!
Thanks.
Hi Gaelyn, I hope your signal issues improve. Nothing frustrates me MORE than bad internet reception, Thanks for posting the giant yellowood as per my choice. I have a blown up photo on my desk of me and Grant posing on a bridge in Nature’s Valley. Nostalgic memories all of them. My FAVE is the pair of hyena pups What a treat that you snapped them. This week please use the 3538. Part of an invoice number on a my beauty products sales. Have a great weekend. Jo
Lousy signal is like when your car breaks down, never at a good time. Those Yellowood trees are humongous! #3538, if I post next week.
I love the wave shot. It has been on my bucket list for some time.
Sorry about your connectivity issues. I hope that is going to be addressed in the gazillion dollars that our president wants for infrastructure. I don’t know anybody who is happy with their internet.
5742 for next week
Thanks. I’d be perfectly happy to wander all over near the Wave. All the sandstone is scrumptious. Yes to major upgrades of all infrastructure. #5742 if it happens next week.
Oooh life does not sound the best it’s ever been right now for you. Yikes, hang in there. But I kind of do understand because I’m having minor computer issues (very minor compared to yours ) and those are frustrating enough. And I remember on the job frustration also. If I were still working under the conditions at the end of my “career” (that caused me to retire early) I would be tearing my hair out. …. but I can only hope that you can figure yours out, because you have fans out here waiting for your posts…… oops and here I am really commenting on the post before this one.. here I love the scenery and even our hyena pups (everything is cute when it’s newish and little )).
Too much on my plate right now. I prefer KISS. But it happens to us all. Hope your computer issues are straightened out. Google answers are not always helpful to fix things.
Another group of great pictures. My favorite is the Cape Royal shot.My pick for next time, no matter when that will be, is # 6589.
Thanks. Will see if I can make #6589 for next week.
Hi Gaelyn, I just love all of these photo’s but of course I do have a couple of special ones I like, such as those lovely Elephants at the National Park South Africa and the sunset at Cape Royal overlook,Grand Canyon National Park. Favourite for this week Ring of Fire from Bryce Canyon. Would like 7732 for next week please. Have a great weekend and stay safe.
Thanks. We have similar tastes in our favorites. #7732 if I can post next week.
I am in awe of you being able to blow glass. Love love love all those elephants. So many. What a terrific way to spend a birthday. What a great picture of the canyon, the contrasting large rocks and just a sliver of the river. But I think my favorite are the rays in Cape Royal sunset. Beautiful picture. Wonderful shots too of the buttes, terrific colors, and the lioness I assume. You have lived a wonderful life to see all these fantastic things. I’ll try 6762 for next week please.
I did stained glass for years and was lucky to take a free class in Bakersfield, CA for blowing glass. Not a practical home hobby. #6762 if I can post next week.
i like my photo of Toroweap, but Jennifer picked the lucky number this week! We all look forward to your Foto Friday Fun, but as in the old saying “If it’s not Fun, don’t do it!” The corollary is “If you gotta do it, make it fun”. But there’s no fun in putting up with Microsoft who does not understand crappy internet.
For next week I’d like 415 and I’ll be looking FFF 415 🙂
Thanks. I love sharing these stories but do get frustrated by the problems. Damn it, I’m hooked. So we’ll see if #415 makes it out next week.
I love my pick of the elephants. They are such amazing animals! I do hope that things ease up a bit for your internet troubles. I’ll pick 2021 just in case.
I could watch elephants forever, with just enough signal to send photos out into the world. #2021 if it happens next week.
Thanks for going through all of that frustration to make FFF happen! It’s bizarre how spotty internet service can be, with no rhyme or reason as to which places get service and which ones don’t. It sounds like you may have fixed the problem in your next post. I hope so! I love the Cape Royal shot as well. The rays are incredible! Number 5051 for next week, if it’s happening 🙂 I hope you’re able to get out and take some pictures soon.
Thanks for the vote of confidence. Seems mornings are best for being online at home. So, #5051 for this week if it happens.
