This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by 11 readers including mostly national parks (no surprise) like Death Valley, Grand Canyon, Canyonlands, Zion, and throw in a game preserve in South Africa.
Jim and Diana chose #326, “for the birthday girl.” This girl likes to take photos while driving (don’t judge, I’m careful) and include what’s behind. From November 2009 in a different truck and camper in Death Valley National Park driving north towards the Black Mountains while looking back on the Badwater Road.
Cathy chose #0922. A favorite place to camp and watch storms over Grand Canyon, Crazy Jug Point on the Kaibab National Forest.
Doris chose #9752. Lots of birds, like this Pied Kingfisher, seen at the large lake called Mankwe Dam in Pilanesberg Game Reserve, South Africa.
Jennifer also chose #326. From Bright Angel Point on the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park, Rangers get paid in sunsets.
Diane and Nigel chose #2603. Yet another sunset from the North Rim Grand Lodge with the San Francisco Peaks on the far horizon.
Yogi let random dot org chose #3539. A dirty windshield shot in the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park, Utah during a way too fast road trip in September 2015.
Jeff chose #0329, the day a friend starts volunteering at Toroweap. Different park, this is a return to Death Valley during the February 2016 Super bloom.
Sherry chose #3271. Nice to see a little water while walking the Palm Canyon trail in Anza=Borrego Desert State Park, California in January 2015.
Rita chose #7771. This view brought to you by the 2006 Warm Fire on the North Kaibab National Forest. With the Paria Plateau to the left, House Rock Valley below, Echo Cliffs beyond to the east and in the far distance Navajo Mountain.
Sallie and Bill chose #2000, the first winter they spent in Arizona. Hopefully they visited Zion National Park in southern Utah where this shot was taken from the shuttle when Pat visited in 2014.
Jodee and Bill chose #848. Driving south on SR67 to the North Rim Grand Canyon takes you through forest and meadows.
My choice, a view of Vulture Peak from my last camp near Wickenburg, Arizona.
Thank you for playing along with Foto Friday Fun which allows me to share these photographs and memories. For more of the story just follow the links. Please join in next week by leaving a number between 0001 and 9999 in your comment.
Do you have a favorite this week?
Lots of nice Patk pics. I like the Warm Fire view. So much to see. Hoppy Easter to you! Next week #4587
Thanks. I always stopped for that view through the old burn driving in and out of the North Rim. #4587 for next week.
The Grand Canyon is dear to me, but your superbloom picture is my favorite this week. Number 68 for next week, for the number of miles we paddled last week while the wind was blowing against us (out of 68 total miles!).
Superbloom might have been a once in a lifetime event for me. I’ll bet you’re tired of the wind too, but have great biceps. #68 for next week.
Hi Gaelyn, I completely missed visiting your blog last week Sorry. Happy birthday ! I would like 7870 for next week. Have a wonderful day. Jo
Thank you for the birthday wishes. I miss reading blogs all the time. Life is busy. #7870 for next week.
Love them all, especially the canyon shot with the San Francisco peaks in the distance. Reminds me of my parents who got married in Flagstaff.
number next week is 7975
Thanks. You really do need a trip west. #7975 for next week.
Wow, love that interesting kingfisher. The Bright Angel’s point picture is so interesting with that perfectly level band of pink rock. The wildflowers in the Death Valley picture are lovely. I guess if I can’t get to Toroweap, I couldn’t volunteer there. Is Jeff’s friend an RVer? Glad to know super blooms are in February. I guess I need to plan on February for Death Valley. I need to set up a calendar for when to be where – Texas, California etc to see the height of wildflower bloom. I’ll try 4010 for next week since I get my second covid shot in 8 days.
Thanks. Death Valley is pretty all winter but rarely gets a superbloom. In fact, this winter being so dry I’ve seen no blooms to speak of anywhere. I don’t know if Jeff’s friend is a RVer. I do know someone who took her Pleasure Way there as a volunteer. #4010 for this week.
Never a bad photo but we love the the two of the Grand Canyon, ours with the sun catching the peaks and the one of the storm is incredible. Of course we have to love the Kingfisher 😊
Hope you have a good Easter, keep well, 204 for next week please. Hugs from us both, Diane and Nigel
Thank you. #204 for next week.
What travels. Paid in sunsets, indeed. #862
I do love to travel. #862 for this week.
All spectacular photo’s Gaelyn, love the sunsets and my favourite this week is that lovely sunset at the North Rim Grand Lodge, No 2218 for next week please. Have a great weekend and stay safe.
Thank you. Hard to beat a sunset at Grand Canyon. #2218 for this week.
More wonderful pictures. I have two favorites this week, both of the sunsets at the North Rim. #5000 for next week please, thanks. Have a fun weekend.
Thanks. Gotta’ love those canyon sunsets. #5000 for this week.
We have definitely visited Zion (and all of the AZ/Utah NPs) and that is something I am always delighted to be reminded of. So “ my” picture is my favorite this week…a perfect choice. I missed your Birthday, but knowing you, you are probably still celebrating… and you deserve to! Happy Year! …. I’ll take an oldie this week if that’s OK…46, for our oldest great-grandson’s birthday.
I figured. Yep, still celebrating thank you. #46 for this week.
We loved that drive to the North Rim to see you. So different from the South! Love all the layers across the plateau from the fire site.
#556 next week please.
I never tired of that drive, different in every season. #556 for this week.
Ii was in Palm Canyon a couple weeks the trial is closed at the overlook. but grove is recovering nicely. I like the whimsy of your rearview mirrors shot, who’da thunk of that? “Objects in the Rear View Mirror May Appear Closer Than They Are” ~Meat Loaf
For next week I’d like 156 the combined score as Baylor dominated Gonzaga.
Glad to hear the Palms are recovering from the fire. I am a “drive-by shooter”. 😉 #156 for this week.
