This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by 11 readers including flowers, Grand Canyon, South Africa, and two different Palm Canyons.
Jim and Diana chose #544, “the time of Sunday’s Starlink 21 launch.” I suspect he means 5:44am, a time I would rather be snuggled into this pile of pillows covered in woven silk, a display at African Silks.
Diane and Nigel chose #1203. Maybe they know what this flower is seen in Kruger National Park, South Africa.
Jo chose #6110. A popular number for some reason that took me to a year ago, 3-28-20, for the oldest in file. Globe Mallow grew along the dry wash by my camp near Ajo, Arizona.
Lisa chose #6307. Back to South Africa in 2014 watching sunset over the Indian Ocean at Tsitsikamma National Park.
Cathy chose #0629. A fun shot of me and Grand Canyon reflected in a window framed mirror at the Desert View Watchtower on the South Rim.
Sherry chose #330. Driving south on SR67 to the North Rim Grand Canyon through the meadows in the Kaibab National Forest.
Yogi chose #2284. He likes some kinds of signs but not all. Vermilion Cliffs National Monument straddles Arizona and Utah, where this shot was taken. Also, a special request for the retired gas man, pipeline sign taken a couple days ago.
Rita chose #3807, a two-shot panorama. While on safari in Kruger National Park I frequently saw sunset, and maybe some wildlife, at Sunset Dam not far from our South African camp.
Sallie and Bill chose #315. Yup, I frequently hike in a skirt. And here I am at Ribbon Falls deep in the Grand Canyon during an October rim-to-rim hike with friends in 2009.
Doris chose #317. The rest of Ribbon Falls that I was looking up at in the previous shot.
Jeff chose #3141, “in tribute of Pi Day.” He may recognize this view looking down Palm Canyon. And he might eat pie in a little town between the park and home.
My choice should give you a clue where my current camp is.
Thank you for playing along with Foto Friday Fun which allows me to share these photographs and memories. For more of the story just follow the links. Please join in next week by leaving a number between 0001 and 9999 in your comment.
Do you have a favorite this week?
Hi Gaelyn, not an easy photo to identify the flower but I suspect it is Wild Hibiscus (Hibiscus engleri). We just love the photo of you looking up at Ribbon Falls, a spectacular shot and with the following photo as well.
1903 For next week please. Have a great weekend, think this time next week you have a birthday so we wish you all the very best for that as well. Cheers Diane and Nigel
Sorry I put you on the spot with the flower. Joan probably told me the name and I forgot to write it down. #1903 for next week. Thank you for the birthday wish and being such a long-time friend.
Fun reflection pic 😄 And that is a Grand shot of Geogypsy at Ribbon Falls in her hiking skirt!! Not sure where your choice pic is but looks like somewhere I’d like to see with that rocky crevice and Joshua’s or palms?? My first thought was a visit to Joshua Tree. Waiting to find out!! Next week # 2171
Thanks. I had thought about Joshua Tree but then remembered, it’s spring break. #2171 for next week.
Hi Gaelyn, what a beautiful backyard you have in your camp. I love the Ribbon Falls and love your hiking skirt, All the shots are beautiful. My number next week 1528 which was a guest reservation number. Have a great weekend. Jo
I think that photo of you in a skirt at Ribbon Falls is spectacular and will be very popular this week. I’ll choose 1971 for the first time I took my kids to the South Rim.
Thanks. Other hikers looked at me funny hiking in a skirt. They should try it for comfort. #1971 for next week.
Thanks. I wish that canyon was my camp view instead of the end of a hike. #1528 for next week.
The Ribbon hike pictures are great, and I love the self-portrait in the window. Very cool! Number 2003 for the official start of spring break tomorrow for next week, please
Thanks. #2003 for next week, when it gets crowded.
The Ribbon hike picture is the best. #734 for next week please.
Thanks. Everyone seems to like that shot. #734 for next week.
Ah, you made me laugh with your pipeline sign. Pro Tip – all natural gas lines, regardless of pressure, are labelled High Pressure Gas Line.. That one looks like an antique, and they got acquired, and hence the sticker over the original company name.
random dot org says 6354 for next week.
LOL! Everything out here is an antique, including me. #6354 for next week.
My favorites for this week are the ribbon falls pictures especially the one with you in the skirt. I love to wear skirts and would like to hike in them so I wish I could see yours up close to know what kind of skirt I might get to do that. I also love the picture of you at the watchtower which is one of my absolute favorite places in the entire country. It is so magical. I’ll try number 6128 for next time.
Thanks. The skirt is just cotton, calf-length, very full, with pockets. Nothing special. Very comfortable. Best view from the South Rim is Desert View, IMHO. #6128 for next week.
Some great dramatic shots. Love the snag at Sunset Dam and you at Rainbow Falls!
#1717 for next week please.
Thanks. #1717 for this week.
Hi Gaelyn, sorry for late reply.that reflection shot of you at the desert view watch tower on South Rim, that really is fun.,also the sunset over the Indian ocean is special. As I love waterfalls my fav is Ribbon Falls. No 0329 for next week please. Hope you had a good weekend.
Thanks. You’re not late for a Friday post. #0329 for this week.
Haha I feel like I win the Jackpot! Everybody likes my # ….Ribbon Falls and you gazing up at it! I love it too. I don’t really think our comments are the best part of this blog because without what you write and photograph we wouldn’t have anything to talk about. But you get good ones and it *is* nice to be able to read them again. I’m glad you got that fixed. … I feel dumb(er than usual even) but I can’t tell from the last picture where you are exactly.
I think you did win the jackpot, but I might be biased. I too am glad the comments are visible to everyone again. You’ll soon know where that last shot was taken.
