This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by nine readers including South Africa, the Southwest, and and oldie from the Northwest too.
Yogi chose #4989. Phacelia is seen blooming all over the Southwest during spring. These flowers were shot along the Palm Canyon trail in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, California 2-17-15.
Rita chose #7211. Named Skull rock for obvious reasons, this feature is seen near Jumbo Rocks campground in Joshua Tree National Park California.
Diane and Nigel chose #2901. They met Bill during their visit and would probably agree about his calm nature. Even when the clutch went out on his truck in the sand dunes and had to be towed out he totally kept his cool.
Sherry chose #4642. With both of us struggling over RV repairs and trying to stay warm over the winter I think next year we should go to South Africa during their summer/our winter, rent a RV, and go play. We’d get to see sights like this giraffe in Kruger National Park.
Cathy chose #0415. Seems like a sign reinforcing the previous photo. This time at the Pilanesberg Game Reserve not far from Johannesburg, South Africa. Diane will even vouch for this place. Who else wants to go and look at wildlife from up in the air?
Doris chose #2255. Hovenweep is not a large national monument but is significant as an example of past Native American communities in the Southwest.
Sallie and Bill chose #7260. The Groot Swartberg was just one of many famous mountain passes I drove in South Africa where clouds flowing over like this are called “Table cloth clouds”.
Jeff chose #129 for the day it finally rained. Because of rain, this was the third attempt at climbing Mt St Helens back during the summer of 1992 when I worked at the volcanic monument. This view from the top of the Lewis River Valley and Swift Reservoir.
Sue chose #1977, the summer she spent in Northern Idaho. I have 0 photos from that year, so instead she gets the Sasha (Bill’s dog) view at the iconic White Pocket in Vermilion Cliffs National Monument from my first visit 5-28-15.
My current view (an eight-shot panorama) at the Kofa NWR where the next post will come from with some more interesting clouds.

Do you have a favorite this week?
Yet another glitch occurred on the blog prompting me to try for another fix. And I think it worked. At least from my end. So please let me know. Thanks for your forever patience from this serious procrastinator.
Beautiful pics as always!! And I learned Phacelia as a bonus.
Keep on geotrucking!!
Next week is 515
Thanks. Don’t touch the phacelia/scorpion weed. “Geotrucking” is a great new word. I need your definition please. #515 for next week.
Like the Peekaboo link & sounded like “business as usual” for the Jeep. YAY!! Comments! Nice fix!! Next week #3691
If I could afford it, I might own a Rubicon. #3691 for next week.
My favorite this week is the picture of of Skull rock.. Number 7842 for next week please.
Thanks. I’ve seen several “Skull rocks” in different places. Erosion is amazing. #7842 for next week.
Hi Gaelyn. Thanks we are back on track. Love the photo of the Giraffe at Kugar National Park. Giraffe’s always look like they are smiling.Favourite for this week is Mount St Helens view from the top of Lewis River Valley and Swift Reservoir. No 0394 for next week please.Hope all is well with you. Enjoy your weekend and stay safe.
Agree, giraffe’s are always smiling, and walking around with their head in the clouds. Mt St Helens is the only mountain/volcano I’ve ever climbed. Was so clear that day I saw other peaks up to 500 miles away. #0394 for next week.
Comments are BACK … Yahoo!
Yup!
Wow what happened I can read comments, that is really good news if it stays that way and your fix appears to have worked.
As always love all the photos but the skull rock is certainly something different. Love the giraffe though.
Yes we want to disappear to RSA bit wonder if we will ever make it again – please send COVID away. I am due first vaccine on Monday but Nigel is not old enough!
502 for next week please, Enjoy your weekend, hugs from us both, Diane and Nigel
I’d return to SA in a heartbeat. Nasty COVID! #502 for next week.
You fixed your comments! Yippee!
I hear you about RV fixes. Our house always needs something. Right now, it’s a new driveway! #5621
Houses all need repairs and maintenance, maybe more so rocking down the road. #5621 for next week.
Comments are working?! Wow! Your photos are pieces of art and a gift to us all. We enjoy your Friday photos every week! If you can read this, can I get #1965?
Thank you so much for your compliment and comment. #1965 for next week.
Comments fixed, blog fixed. Yippee…maybe no one else but me saw the strange blog stuff yesterday. Either way, I am thrilled for you and for all of us out here. I loved my very own photo that you picked for 1977. You know how I feel about red rock country and that I have only slipped along on the edge of the Vermillion Cliffs. The Wave will probably be long beyond my reach in this lifetime, so photos are great. So next time how about 1978. Another year mapping at Priest Lake in northern Idaho
A relief to have the blog fixed. I don’t know how anybody could miss the magic of red rock country. Glad I did the Wave when I did. #1978 for next week.
Such a sweet giraffe face!! Great to have the comments back on the blog.
#544 for next week please.
Always look like giraffes are smiling. #544 for this week.
Love all these pictures from South Africa especially my giraffe. I’m definitely game to go. Pun intended. I’ll take number 9135 for next week.
Thanks. LOL! I am game to go too. How about January 2022? #9135 for this week.
WOW! So good to see the comments are again working! I’ve driven past the Vermillion Cliffs many times but have not done much exploring. Beautiful country.
For next week I’d 1960 the year the rock pile at the Peg Leg Smith campsite became a California Historical Landmark.
Yea, guess I put off fixing that problem long enough. #1960 for this week.
Oh how I love knowing about tablecloth clouds! Those mountains are beautiful draped by them. Thank you for all these beautiful pictures as always and for sharing your memories in words as well.
Thank you for leaving such lovely comments.
