This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by eight readers including Grand Canyon, dino tracks, sparkly me, and my old store front in Tonasket, Washington.
Rita chose #3981. While out on self-drive safari in Kruger National Park, South Africa eyes are constantly sweeping back and forth across the land. Suddenly, around a corner, a wildlife encounter can happen at any time. Then it’s time to sit, wait and enjoy as they will eventually go into the bush looking for food.
Diane and Nigel chose #1501. A rather grainy sunset with an old P&S from Cape Royal overlook on the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park taken 9-14-09. I often worked at that location and would change out of uniform at the end of day and stay to photograph sunset.
Doris chose #439. I’ve collected (mostly vintage) sequin clothes for years yet rarely wear them. Berta took this shot on Halloween 2008 in a parking lot in Prescott, Arizona. I wore almost the same with more layers for the colder temperature on Halloween 2020 at a Bryce Canyon gathering (with distancing).
Sallie and Bill chose #240 for the time. This shot of Cliff Spring at the end of a short trail was the first time I hiked it my first season at the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park in 2008.
Cathy chose #281. While exploring the surrounding area from Grand Canyon in 2008 I visited Glen Canyon Dam in Page, Arizona. This trace fossil was created by a dinosaur walking on wet sand, like us walking on the beach. But this was dunes and later sand filled the track then over time the dunes lithified into sandstone. There’s a great dino visitor center not far west from there in Big Water, Utah along SR89.
Yogi chose #6281. Monsoon at Grand Canyon from Cape Royal overlook south east when fog shrouded Vishnu Temple. Taken 8-13-14.
Sherry chose #64. This throwback scanned print from 1984 evokes so many memories. Parked outside, the van my ex and two step-kids moved to Tonasket, Washington in 1981 taken from inside my second store front for “Gail’s Crafts and Collectibles”. I had bought the local yarn shop and then learned to knit and crochet adding to my craft of stained glass. I also learned to paint windows. This display for a count the leprechaun contest around St Patrick’s Day.
Jeff chose #2014, “the year we hiked Zion’s Narrows.” This sunset shot over the Vallecito Mountains taken 12-24-14 at another one of his favorite public lands, Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, California. While boondocking here I learned the meaning of Christmas is to be kind and giving.
I recently returned to the Plomosa Mountains north of Quartzsite, AZ.

Do you have a favorite this week?
Regarding the comment problem: I notice those without a website URL seem to show up so maybe try to leave that out in the comment box. Just a thought.
Dinosaur tracks are so cool & the Big Water Visitor Center does have a great display. Amazing to my mind! I like the giraffe & zebra pic. Bet you did have to keep your eyes on lookout while driving around.
I don’t imagine the Big Water VC has been open in a while as it’s so small but definitely worth the visit. #0016 for next week.
LOL…I forgot to give my #. Next week # 0016
Always enjoy looking at your photos no matter what they are, but for us the first one has to be a fave this week, we miss the game reserves so much. 2201 for next week please. Keep warm Diane and Nigel
Thank you. I too miss seeing SA wildlife, and the people also. #2201 for next week.
Giraffes and a zebra!! What a treat in one shot. Love the pot of gold window and a glimpse into your “pre-nomad” years.
#347 for next week please.
Extra special to see multiple species when on safari. #347 for next week.
The mountains down in AZ are so different from the mountains I am used to. They remind me more of the cliffs and canyons around here than the mountains. I’m adding them to my post-vaccine travel itinerary! I also love seeing the wildlife you photograph. I can’t imagine driving around a corner and stumbling upon a herd of giraffes! Absolutely wild! Number 1315 for next time, please 🙂
So glad I can help add to your travel list, even if not giraffes. 😉 #1315 for next week.
The giraffes are my favorite this week.
Let’s go with 723 for next week; the number of words in Amanda Gorman’s “The Hill We Climb”, which just blew us away. Loved that she finished it with her version of the motto of our blog “Don’t just see it…BE it.” 🙂
An accomplished young woman and a powerful poem. #723 for next week.
Hi Gaelyn, I always like your photo’s as there is always a nice variety I particularly like the one of the Sunset over the Plomosa Mountains but my fav this week is of the dinosaur trace fossils. No for next week 2067 please.Hope all is well with you. Keep well !!
Thank you, I so love the variety of memories. #2067 for next week.
The short hike that ended at the pretty little pool in “our” picture sounds about our speed. We can still do short distances. (I think. It’s been awhile since we’ve actually done anything that qualifies as more than a walk.). The first picture with the giraffes and a zebra together is amazing, loved the beautiful scenery and your sequins too. 940 next time?
I mostly just walk easy these days also and find beauty all around, as you do. #940 for next week.
Trying again without the link line as a test for you.
I love the old timey store window you used to have. You have had an amazing life!!
8837 for next week
Thanks. Those were fun times running a business and I don’t ever want to do it again. 😉 #8837 for next week.
Oh look at those giraffes!!! That’s for sure my favorite for this week but I do love the three mountain pictures at various distances as well as the idea of you in sequence. once upon a time I had some wonderful Renaissance festival clothes wish we could have met in our “dress up” clothes. are we always really just little girls underneath it all? I’ll try 4664 for next week. Any update on when I’ll be able to read all the comments again? I miss them.
I always thought Renaissance would be fun. Dressing up sure is. #4664 for this week.
