This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by 10 readers including the Arizona strip, Grand Canyon, and several dramatic skies.
Jim and Diana chose #1949, “the time of tomorrows SpaceX Crew1 launch to the ISS.” And he got some interesting shots of that event. Which I wouldn’t have seen with a sky like this one over Grand Canyon 8-28-10.
Cathy chose #6214. Another interesting sky at Grand Canyon as fog circled around Wotans Throne at Cape Royal on the North Rim 8-13-14.
Doris chose #1113. Some lighter weight clouds but still casting shadows on the Vermilion Cliffs seen along SR89A 4-30-10.
Lisa chose #4568. A cloudless sunset over Dome Rock Mountains north of Quartzsite, Arizona from my 1-24-15 camp.
Yogi chose #954. This western view along SR89 in southern Utah runs on the edge of the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument 4-17-09.
Jo chose #3005. The Badlands, as seen from Fonts Point Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, look other worldly under a California sunset.
Diane and Nigel chose #1311. Easy to see why this is called the Painted Desert in northern Arizona.
Sallie and Bill chose #312. These are modern reproduction knapped arrowheads made by a friend.
Sue chose #1962 by default of her comment last week. This shot was taken one minute after the first photo posted.
Rita chose #8930. This lovely bouquet of lilacs were a birthday present from Berta. The scent snaps me back to childhood playing under a hedge of lilacs in Illinois.
My choice, carefully peeking into a large Beavertail cactus to see a bird nest that had eggs last spring when I camped in Congress.
Thank you for playing along with Foto Friday Fun which allows me to share these photographs and memories. For more of the story just follow the links. Please join in next week by leaving a number between 0001 and 9999 in your comment below.
Do you have a favorite this week?
Love the sunset over Dome Rock – and The Badlands shot is fantastic. For next week, put me down for #1010
Northern Arizona 😍 Lots of nice landscape views. Next week #0317.
Can’t miss almost anywhere in AZ. #0317 for next week.
Thanks. #1010 for next week.
You have amazing photos! #7654
Thanks. #7654 for next week.
Your photos are always difficult to chose from as they are always excellent. We think though our own photo of the Painted Desert fits the bill this week, Interesting place and yes we can see why it is named as such.
Nothing much happening here, still in full lockdown and the first frosts have arrived.
Take care Diane and Nigel
Oops 2011 for next week please
Thank you so much. Some of the old shots are a little rough. #2011 for next week.
Every week I’m amazed at the number in the title. 390 – incredible. That’s 390 weeks. That’s 7.5 years. Wow! The badlands from Anaza Borrego is a fantastic picture. My favorite this week. I want to go to Anaza Borrego. Is it possible to stay a month there? And what month would be best? I love lilacs. What a wonderful birthday present. Looks like I forgot to comment last week so I’ll go back and look so I can see the photos. How about #5319 for next time. That’s this week’s campsite number and next weeks.
I too am amazed I’ve kept this up for long, but I still have 1000s of photos. Anza-Borrego is best in winter or spring for flowers. Not as easy to boondock as it used to be. #5319 for next week.
Hi Gaelyn, Superb shots of the Canyon this week and I love the arrow heads even though they are replica’s,they look well made.,actually they are my favourite for this week.Hope all is well with you. No 798 for next week please. Enjoy the weekend.
Thanks. Somehow I thought you’d like the arrowheads. I have several more replicas from other knappers. #798 for next week.
How ’bout #679 for this week. Happy Thanksgiving.
You get #679 for this week.
The light balance in the photo of the badlands is phenomenal! I love the Grand Canyon pictures, too. It’s such an incredible landscape, and the lighting you captured highlights both its vastness and its intracacy. I’m glad to see the eggs are no longer there–I’m assuming the best because of the clever hiding spot and my persistant optimism. I hope you are safe and well. Number 5445 for next week, please!
Thank you for the lovely compliment. Definitely a well hidden nest. #5445 for this week.
Your arrowhead repro maker friend is very good! Love the skies and scenery and the lilacs or the same memories you have (except, you know, different state and years earlier) …also because I never see them any more … even getting home earlier this year, in Apri we were still too late. …. speaking of late, if I’m not too late for Friday, I will take 250, if I am I understand and will do better next week. Happy Thanksgiving from Brookings.
Lilacs are special and only a few grew around Yarnell. #250 for this week.
We do have so many pretty places in Arizona! Love the drift of fog on the mesa. Happy Thanksgiving!!
#836 for next week please.
Thanks. Oops, got this late, how about next week for #836?
