This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by eight readers including fall colors, North Kaibab meadows, Grand Canyon, and thankfully no snow yet.
Jim and Diana chose #11, how many days until the election. VOTE! This print taken in 1970 was oil stained when I scanned it. The Chevy Nomad belonged to a high school boyfriend in Downers Grove, Illinois.
Diane and Nigel chose #1610. A short hike to a beautiful waterfall at the base of the Drakensberg Mountains of South Africa.
Cathy chose #1024. A familiar drive south on SR67 to the North Rim Grand Canyon. Crane Lake in one of the many meadows on the Kaibab National Forest taken 8-12-09.
Sherry chose #8765. Not easy to find fall colors and the canyon but I managed on a far shot from the Upper Ken Patrick trail near Point Imperial on the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park on 9-30-14.
Rita chose #1564. It is easy to find fall aspen in an old burn like the Outlet fire from 2000 seen on the scenic drive to Cape Royal on the North Rim. This window shot taken 9-21-09.
Doris chose #832. Another meadow shot on the Kaibab with a spring only pond near Bison corner headed south to the North Rim Grand Canyon taken 5-15-09.
Jodee and Bill chose #6201. Inversion during monsoon August 2014 had clouds swirling around Wotans Throne as see from Cape Royal, the end of the scenic drive on the North Rim Grand Canyon.
Yogi chose #7300. Late light on a stormy monsoon day at Grand Canyon from the lodge veranda.
My choice this week includes fall colors at Bryce Canyon and they are disappearing quickly. When I leave on Sunday there is a prediction for rain and snow. Guess I’m getting out just barely in time. After looking at low nighttime temperatures within a couple hundred mile radius the current plan, which could certainly change, is run to Fredonia about two hours away and stay in a RV park with hookups for heat at least for the first night out, and then take it from there.
Thank you for playing along with Foto Friday Fun which allows me to share these photographs and memories. For more of the story just follow the links. Please join in next week by leaving a number between 0001 and 9999 in your comment below.
Do you have a favorite this week?
I am aware of the comment problem and won’t have time to work on it until done working and have a reliable signal. Please know I am getting the comments even if they don’t show up here. Thanks for your patience.
November 2021 – A storm moving in or leaving left half a rainbow gift over the hoodoos Bryce Canyon National Park Utah
Time to order a 2021 Geogypsy calendar, $25 includes shipping in the USA.
I love the Nomad! Looks like it was a project car even way back then! Let’s do #4 for next week…same reason as last week. VOTE!
The Nomad was restored. #4 for next week.
Always a good day at the North Rim & Cape Royal Road. Next week #8967 for my two favorite drives & celebrating the beginning of your off season adventures!
Agreed. Missed it this summer big time. #8967 for next week.
Enjoyed the moodiness of the two monsoon pictures. Also like the open feeling I experienced with the Kalbab meadow picture. #9808 for next week please. Good luck with your move this weekend.
I like your last pic with fall colors. You are amazing, uprooting your home and heading out. It is getting cold here and we might have an ice storm on Monday. Glad I am retired!!
Thanks. I need to move before it freezes any harder.
Ok! Not a 55′ Nomad. It looks like a ‘Tradesman’ or a ‘150’. I had a 55′ Nomad and wished I still did as they are a beautiful car and now worth a small fortune. https://journal.classiccars.com/2019/07/21/55-chevy-nomad-restored-factory/
The last pic with the prominent monolithic rock at the skyline looks like ‘Ghost’ rock off of I-70 near Green River, Utah. I-70 has to be the most spectacular interstate in the country. For years I only drove a small part of it, from Hwy-191 east of Green River to Hwy.-191 west of Green River, a distance of about 26-28 miles. This summer I drove it from Salina to Brendle, a distance of 126-miles. All classic southern Utah scenes with many viewpoints/rest stops along a designated ‘scenic byway’.
It’s a Nomad.
Last pic was taken at Natural Bridge overlook in Bryce. So many beautiful places in Utah.
Brilliant photo’s as always Gaelyn Love all the stormy pics and my fav is stormy monsoon at Grand Canyon No 4323 for next week please. Have a great weekend and stay safe.
Thank you. I love dramatic skies. #4323 for next week.
We were going to say our photo was the favourite as it brought back incredible memories and we wish we were there now. Great place to be isolated in though France is not so bad either. Having said that, the last shot. of the storm and rainbow over Bryce is very special. 2310 for next week please. Hope all goes well with your move on Sunday. What is happening to the 5th wheel, presume you are having to move it but to where?
Take care, Diane and Nigel.
I love when my shots evoke your memories. It’s been good but I’m ready to be gone. 5th-wheel is being moved, winterized, and stored by same person as last year. I’m almost moved out of it.
Hopefully this comment will post…I can’t see any of the other comments. I loved the moody monsoon pictures the most. I have had a harder time keeping up lately, so please know I am reading if not commenting. Sometimes I managed to read on the phone late at night but it is just about impossible for me to type anything worth reading that late or on the phone keyboard.
Thank you for commenting when you can. I am getting comments in my email even if you can’t see it.
When I was a kid, we had a similar looking red and white Chevy station wagon. Great memories. For next week, put me down for # 0489
Lots of room in the back of those old Chevys. #0489 for next week.
Yay, I love those monsoons in the canyon! Such beautiful meadows among the trees, looking forward to our plains turning green.
#9421 for next week please.
I missed monsoon this summer, as in it just didn’t happen. I look forward to the desert. #9421 for next week.
Happy end of the work week, er I mean season! And best wishes in finding the perfect winter home. Your picture of the half rainbow and the storm aftermath is gorgeous ….but is it really November 2021? I know II’d be happy to see the end of 2020. (If I did sleep through a whole year, please tell me the orange liar lost the election.)
Ooops that last comment was from me sallie@fulltime-life. I forgot to change. And if you are settled enough to do Friday next week I would take 1120 )).
Got you for #1120 this week.
Thanks. First day and feels good. That shot is for the November 2021 calendar. I think we all wish to have slept through 2020, and welcome the removal of the orange liar.
My favorites this week are the two monsoon pictures. Gorgeous!! Your plan for getting out of dodge before the snow sounds like a good one. Hook ups and then figure it out. For next week when you’ll be who knows where, I’ll take 1029, the day I finally head south. First stop, Santee State Park to visit Congaree National Park.
Thanks, monsoon is special and we didn’t see it this year. Low tonight in Fredonia, AZ 20°, but that beats 7° at Bryce. Safe travels, I look forward to your park stories. #1029 for this week.
