This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by 10 readers including wildlife, sunrises, history, and remembrance.
Jim and Diana chose #46. Ringtail Cats live in arid environments and not often seen as they are nocturnal. This one was injured and living at the California Living Museum where I volunteered in Bakersfield in 1989. They presumably live at Bryce, but I haven’t seen one, yet.
Diane and Nigel chose #1109. Spring of 2009 after dropping a truckcamper in Kanab I hurried back south to Yarnell to haul the previous 5th-wheel to the North Rim Grand Canyon for the summer. Echo Cliffs run parallel to SR89 south between Lee’s Ferry and Flagstaff.
Rita chose #9121. These amazingly brilliant Augrabies flat lizards were everywhere, literally almost underfoot, while observing the waterfall at Augrabies Falls National Park, South Africa during March 2014. (I hope it’s just snakes you don’t like. )
Lisa chose #5462. Sunrise over the Indian Ocean from Scottburgh Caravan Park, South Africa, a stop along the way during February 2014 travels.
Jeff chose #2977, “the number of lives lost in the 9/11 attacks.” During Yarnell Daze these men were working on a memorial for another loss, 19 firefighters in the Yarnell Hill fire. I pray for the safety of all firefighters especially in these current times and any of you living nearby or in the path of smoke.
Doris chose #8291. As close as I could zoom from the truck—not allowed to leave vehicle in a South African wildlife park—of the Karoo blue tulip which turned vast plains blue at Mountain Zebra National Park in March 2014.
Jodee and Bill chose #316. She likes to visit historical places—so may have been here—like Fort Misery at Sharlot Hall Museum in Prescott, Arizona. Tells many stories of the old west.
Jo chose #5519, a place she may know in Scottburgh, South Africa. Same sunrise as above.
Yogi chose #5000, another SW teaser for him. While visiting the South Rim Grand Canyon for spring 2016 training I had an opportunity to see the canyon from different perspective like this shot from somewhere along the Hermit Road.
Sherry chose #7472. An attempt to shoot the full moon from Point Imperial overlook on the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park on 6-20-16.
My two choices left over from the last post hiking the hoodoos, first towards the bottom of the Queen’s Garden trail where it levels off and enters forest.
The second, still at the bottom now where the forest thins and shortly before heading up the Navajo Loop trail on the Wall Street side.

Do you have a favorite this week?
Sorry
Seems the comments are not yet visible, but are coming through to me. Still working on the problem.
Cool! We saw a ringtail making its way through Walnut Canyon near Flagstaff. I guess we didn’t realize how lucky we were. Let’s do 39 for next week.
Great sighting of a ringtail cat. I saw one’s tail disappear into the rafters of the North Rim Lodge. #39 for next week.
Your South Africa pictures inspire me to make a visit one day. I hope the visitors this weekend are smarter and kinder than the visitors who’ve been coming the last few weekends. Number 1256 for next week, please!
Thanks. I’d highly recommend South Africa and would return myself. We can hope for smarter. #1256 for next week.
Love’em all, I really liked the South African seashore shot. Random dot org says 405 this week!!
Thanks. Sunrise over any water is divine. #405 for next week.
As always difficult to choose a favourite with your excellent photos but the African sunrises we think just fits the bill, so rare we ever see a sunrise these days!!! 1809 for next week please. Hope the weekend goes well, take care. Diane and Nigel.
Thanks. Africa is the most likely place for me to see a sunrise, especially traveling with Joan. #1809 for next week.
Cute critters – lizard & ring tail. Followed the Yarnell links. I am so very sorry for the loss of lives and tragic devastation your town had to endure. Nice moonshot at Point Imperial. Next week #1113 please.
Fire is a two-edged sword. #1113 for next week.
I really like seeing the hoodoos. I saw a ringtail early one morning walking in our RV park in Florida. Pretty cool. I’m sorry I haven’t let you know the comment thing wasn’t working — have been trying to remember to email you — I thought it was just me — sometimes some WordPress sites won’t accept my comments — on yours, I couldn’t find the comment form at all. I’m glad to know you can see it — I should have tried last week. So next week may I have 918? In honor of today which would be my mother’s 110th birthday! .Thanks
It’s raining here today. Thank goddess. Air quality is better and it should certainly be helping the firefighters up the River.
The ringtail would be an awesome sighting. #918 for your mother’s birthday.
Hi Gaelyn, I thought it was I and my erratic connection which caused me not to see comments. I hope you see this one. I loved the fireman working on the memorial. Please put me down for 3300 for next week. Keep well and safe. Jo
I’m still not sure what the comment problem is but I’m getting them. #3300 for next week.
Hi Gaely, I particularly like the photo , The sunrise over the Indian ocean it’s hard to choose a fav because as always all the photos are just super. I would love to see inside the Sharlot Hall Museum,do they have any exhibits of American indians? My fav this week is The Hoodoos towards the bottom of Queens garden trail. No 2789 for next week, hoping it’s not a pic of a crawly creature.Take care and stay safe.
Thanks. Sunrises are special. Sharlot Hall Museum is based on early settlers and not much Natives. #2789 for next week.
I’d love to see one of the ringtailed cats. Maybe if you get a red light flashlight and go out at night you might get to.
Beautiful Indian ocean pictures. But I love any and all oceans as well as bays, lakes, ponds, streams, rivers, gulfs. . .
My favorite this week is my picture of Point Imperial. It almost looks like an angry ocean rather than a cloudy sky. Very artistic.
Oh SIGH….hiking the hoodoos, how much fun that sounds.
Bummer about the comments. I love to read what others have said. I’ll take #347 for next week. That’s what time it is now on this Saturday as the sun streams in the farmhouse window overlooking my little valley. I could believe all is well everywhere in the world if I stopped listening to the radio and reading and watching the news.
Sounds like you need a water fix, preferably ocean. #347 for next week.
Another interesting group of pictures. How ’bout #8953 for next week.
Thanks. #8953 for next week.
Hope the comments section is back to its old self soon. All great photos again, altho the ones of The Canyon are especially inspiring.
For next week I’d like 922 the first day of autumn, and this covid summer can be left behind.
I hope so too. Just really weird that a few comments do show and most don’t. #922 for this week.
Looks like Sherry and Jeff have figured out the comment monster 🙂 I agree I do miss seeing what others contribute, hope you figure out the glitch in your spare time. Sadly we haven’t done justice to the Prescott area although we’ve been there twice. Will add this museum to what we need to see when we return. Love all the ocean beauty and can’t wait to get back to the coast next year. #4221 for next year please.
Is that weird that some comments show and others don’t? I’ll try again on the next days off. I haven’t been to the ocean in way too long. No PNW trip again this year. 🙁 #4221 for this week.
