This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by 11 readers including cool rock formations, South African wildlife, and a very old car.
Yogi chose #828. At Bryce we call rocks similar to this hoodoos, but they’re toadstools in the Grand Staircase.
Jim and Diana chose #109. Used to drive this forest road across Clearwater Valley, and partially through the blast zone, as a shortcut from Windy Ridge when a Ranger at Mt St Helens National Volcanic Monument during 1992.
Jo chose #7250. A scene she may recognize. In South Africa the clouds pouring over mountains is referred to as a table cloth. This view of that phenomenon was seen heading south on the N12 to Oudtshoorn.
Yogi’s second choice this week is #821. The view southeast across Trancept Canyon to temples and beyond was taken from the Widforss Trail on the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park.
Rita chose #7983. The crescent moon and Venus was seen in Yarnell, 3-21-15.
Jeff chose #1919, “the year the first passenger train arrived in San Diego over the impossible Railroad.” So even though the image number is 850 this 1919 form of transportation came up. Saw this Ford Model T in the Galpin Ford showroom in Prescott.
Cathy chose #1104. Still quite a bit of snow along SR67 to the North Rim Grand Canyon when I drove in 4-30-10.
Diane and Nigel chose #1007. Animals they’ve seen in southern Africa and I saw in Kruger National Park.
Doris chose #8357. Saw these South African Shelducks at Mountain Zebra National Park during my 2014 visit.
Sallie and Bill chose #712, “our oldest son’s birthday.” Flowers always make a nice gift but I don’t know what kind these are. Berta grew flowers around her house and could name them all. I’m guessing Sallie may know too.
Sherry chose #7152. Artistically carved sandstone by the power of water seen in Upper Buckskin Gulch during a crazy warm July hike in Utah.
My choices: While searching for the above #109 this 1094 from 9-20-10 caught my eye taken in Bryce Canyon. And you’ve probably seen this version of #7152 from 9-6-14 that always makes me smile. How can we go wrong with a double rainbow over Roaring Springs Canyon seen from the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park.
Thank you for playing along with Foto Friday Fun which allows me to share these photographs and memories. For more of the story just follow the links. Please join in next week by leaving a number between 0001 and 9999 in your comment below.
Do you have a favorite this week?
Love that Tin Lizzie with the oil drip pan under it. Let’s do 102 for next week.
I thought you might like that one. #102 for next week.
Hi Gaelyn, I love your Transcept Canyon view. And the moon and rainbow shots. I loved the choice you made for me. Yes, we rode that road on our motorbike several times a year. Please give me 4120 for next week. Be safe and keep well. Jo
Thanks. I figured that you had been on the road. #4120 for next week.
I like the crescent moon & double rainbow too. My pic is refreshing given the 100 + temps we are in now. Next week #0809
Thanks. I thought that snow might be refreshing. #0809 for next week.
Once again so many great pictures. I love the ones you chose, I love my sandstone, and that first one with the hoodoo and the ledge rock is fabulous. Hope things are going really well for you there at Bryce. at least it’s cooler than nearly the entire East coast. With 97 degrees and 88% humidity at this very moment, I am seriously envying you. Let me see if I can do as well next week with number 7456 as I did this week.
Thanks. Sure is fun to see some of the oldies. I am well at Bryce, though perhaps annoyed at so many people’s general ignorance. That humidity would be a killer for me. #7456 for this week.
I really love that rainbow shot. I have never seen one curved over like that.
I feel special since I got two entries.!!
Next week is 914
Thanks. #914 for next week.
Love our choice, how can we not love lions. I am starting to get homesick when I see RSA photos and we were there October/November last year!! I am beginning to wonder when we will ever be able to travel again, meanwhile we are both getting older all the time. That rainbow shot is just superb and probably equals a favourite with the lions. 1707 for next week please. Hope you have an excellent weekend, Hugs Diane and Nigel.
I too feel home sick for SA. #1707 for next week.
I don’t have a number request but I do request, if possible, a photo you snapped of the current comet NEOWISE now in naked eye view after sunset. Google for your current locations details. Just a wish.
Sorry, I haven’t even seen the comet let alone photographed it. But trust me, if I do, it will certainly get posted.
i second the request for a comet photo, it is clearly visible from the house. You have darker skies but the angles may be wrong. I like your double rainbow this week, the outer rainbow is a mirror of the inner doing the ROY-G-BIV in reverse. If you see a triple …
For next week I’d like 54 the number of blocks in the Jenga stack I’m making.
I haven’t even seen the comet yet. Once home from work I tend not to go back out. So no promises. Night sky photography requires I carry the tripod and I’m lazy. #54 for next week.
My favorite this week is the crescent moon shot. #5985 for next week please
Thanks. #5985 for next week.
Oh yes ! the crescent moon and the double rainbow are superb shots but the photo of the Lions I love. It’s my favourite. May I have no 9649 for next week please Gaelyn Enjoy your weekend and next weeks travels.
Thanks. I will never forget the thrill of seeing lions. #9649 for next week.
Finally, the grandies have gone home. I can catch up!
All of your photos are wonderful. A whole different world for me.
#9996 for next week!
Thanks. I think you are fortunate to have those grandies visit. That would be a different world for me. #9996 for next week.
Thank you for the flowers and for all of the other choices too. Gotta go with the double rainbow if I have to pick a favorite…it’s perfect! How about # 63 next week.
You’re welcome. Thank you for being such a faithful follower. #63 for this week.
My favorite this time is the Upper Buckskin Gulch photo….and on another note….Thanks so much for reading my blog, Gaelyn. I haven’t been so good at that lately, I still read yours, but don’t always participate in the photo day and don’t always comment. My intentions are good, but somehow stuff gets away from me. I appreciate you so very much. Looking at the rainbow in July and the poem from Bryce. I enjoy the calendar more than you can imagine. We have such a plethora of photographs always scrolling by it is a pleasure to actually have something that isn’t always a moving target. Something as old fashioned as a calendar on the wall. I still use my google calendar extensively, and probably haven’t written a word in yours, but it is here, keeping me company, and every time I look at it I think of you. So…I guess maybe I’ll go post this on your blog as a comment.
Thank you.
