This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by 10 readers including several panoramas, wildflowers, and wildlife in South Africa.
Diane and Nigel chose #307. Shot these red Paintbrush on the North Rim Grand Canyon in 2008. Wouldn’t be surprised if these grew where they live in France.
Pat chose #123, “the number of days until the US elections.” Get out and vote. Don’t be like this set of two panoramas taken in the Ghost Room at Oregon Caves National Monument.
Cathy chose #5308. The view west from a favorite campsite and Grand Canyon overlook, Crazy Jug Point on the Kaibab National Forest, Arizona from 7-9-15.
Yogi chose #8771, “which is the nine’s complement of my last week’s number.” That makes less sense to me than the rock formations along this nameless side canyon near Whitehouse Road in the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, Utah.
Sallie and Bill chose #427. This panorama was taken my first season as a Ranger on the North Rim Grand Canyon only days after opening 5-18-08 from the top of Angels Window.
Jo chose #2800, one of four in a panorama. Likely she’s crossed Swartberg Pass in her home country of South Africa. Just one of several mountain passes I drove during my 2013 visit.
Doris chose #8223. Most likely mother and child, though with elephants the adult could be an Aunt, seen in Addo Elephant National Park, South Africa during my 2014 visit.
Rita chose #5555. You might have to look closely for patches of red maples on Oza Butte as seen from the North Rim Grand Canyon during September 2016.
Jeff chose #1776 for Independence Day. Can we call this unidentified flower blue with a red stem and white center? Seen while hiking in the Drakensburg mountains in South Africa 3-15-10.
Sherry chose #8712. In USA parks we often deal with rodents like squirrels and chipmunks in camp. In the South African Kgalagadi camp it was Yellow Mongoose playing nearby.
My choice from Independence Day shooting the full moon over the hoodoos in Bryce Canyon National Park.

Do you have a favorite this week?
Oops…missed a week. Love the moon over the hoodoos. Let’s do 109 for next week.
Thanks. #109 for next week.
HI Gaelyn, yes, we did many passes on our BMW but you did way more than we did! My favorite is the full moon shot. My number for next week is 7250. Be safe. Jo
SA has so many breathtaking passes. #7250 for next week.
I can hear “nameless side canyon” calling for exploration. The Paintbrush is always a lovely sight. As always, thank you for sharing! Next week #1104
I like to explore nameless places the best. #1104 for next week.
I’m really liking the #427 shot, all of your photos are awesome.
821 for next week.
Thanks. Hard to go wrong at Grand Canyon. #821 for next week.
There always seems to be a lovely variety of photo’s on Friday’s. This weeks are just fabulous. Love the one of the elephants, and the one of the Oregon caves is breath taking. However, my fav is the full moon over the Hoodoos at Bryce Canyon. 7983 for next week please. Enjoy your weekend and keep safe.
Thank you. I so enjoy the diversity of memories, and cameras through the years. #7983 for next week.
Indeed that is a great picture of the full moon. You’re getting pretty good with your night photography. Next week I’d like 1919, the year the first passenger train arrived in San Diego over the impossible Railroad.
Thanks. I take lots of shots to get a few. #1919 for next week.
Hi Gaelyn, I have never see those Paintbrushes here but they could well be around. The Blue flower with the white centre looks like Campanula rotundifolia or simply a Meadow Bell. We cannot decide which is our favourite this week, the moon and the elephants are both top of the list. 1007 for next week please, sorry we are running a bit late this week. Have a great weekend, hugs Diane and Nigel.
I just figured we do seem to have many similar flowers. Thanks for a name on the blue flower. #1007 for next week.
Elephants, to see them in their natural environment must have been amazing. The moon photo is a winner. #8357 for next week please.
Thanks. I could sit and watch elephants forever. #8357 for next week.
I love your memories. Is it 123 days until the election? It seems so far away. I’m here inside our place. The heat is um….miserable:) So it’s indoors until it rains or cools down. I should make an agenda for myself during these endless days of weirdness. Hope you are enjoying the weather up where you are at! Hugs.
Thanks Chris. The election can’t come soon enough. Sorry it’s so miserably hot down there. Even feels hot up here in the low 90s. Stay well, and take care of each other.
Oh that last shot is my idea of the perfect way to light up the sky for the 4th! How absolutely beautiful. … love our choice , the North Rim pano, the kind of formation that makes me dream up all kinds of things those cliffs look like! … love the elephants and mongooses (mongeese?)…don’t remember seeing them ever before.
I’d rather watch the moon than fireworks any day. Happy belated birthday to your son for #712 next week.
Oh, remembered as I visited the earlier post that I forgot a number. Also that was fun reading there more about your moon shots,. Anyway #712 next week? For today, which is our oldest son’s birthday.
Oh Dear, it’s almost Friday again and I am just looking at your wonderful pictures from last week. The pandemic seems to have sapped my energy for everything except escapist reading of admittedly stupid cozy mysteries.
Is it really only 123 days until the election? Love your reference to not being in the dark. The view from Crazy Jug is just outstanding. I know I will be forever sorry not to have been able to camp there with you. Love the elephants and my mongoose. Doubt I’ll ever see either in person in their homes, so thank you. Your moon shot is just fantastic. The trees here in our valley have grown so tall that they block being able to take the moon rising over the Blue Ridge. I really miss that. I’ll try #7152 for next week.
Nothing wrong with cozy mysteries. I miss both Grand Canyon and South Africa every day and wonder if I’ll get back to either. Maybe you need a tower to get above the trees for a view and could work as an exercise unit as well. #7152 for this week.
