This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by seven readers including lots of green and orange, South African Gemsboks, and my last Yarnell sunset.
Liberalwarrior chose #1918, “a reference to the 1918 Pandemic.” In my mind, viruses come and go all the time and I’m just trying to stay away from peopley places. If in South Africa, I might hike into the Drakensburg Mountains where people are few, but views are magnificent. I am not making light of this but refuse to live in fear.
Doris chose #792. Whenever I cross Navajo Bridge I stop and look for Condors but also enjoy the interesting view looking down into the Colorado River below the walking bridge. Sometimes, the flash of muddy water can be seen in the flow.
Rita chose #639. One of several abandoned Native American structures to be seen at Wupatki National Monument in Arizona.
Jo chose #4800. My favorite monsoon view over Grand Canyon from Crazy Jug Point.
Diane and Nigel chose #2902. Having met Bill they know he’s a calm mannered man. I was impressed he kept his cool when the clutch blew in his truck and it had to be towed out of the sand dunes.
Sallie and Bill chose #2989. From the same incident as above.
Melissa chose #8795. One of the best places to see wildlife on safari is by a waterhole. This shot of the Gemsboks was taken through a windshield at Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park in South Africa during my last trip in March, 2014.
My choice while recently labeling photos from April 2019. My last sunset from Berta’s little house in Yarnell. The place became a part of me having spent at least part of winters there for 15 years. And I took, and shared, a lot of sunset shots over those rocky Weaver Mountains.
Thank you for playing along with Foto Friday Fun which allows me to share these photographs and memories. For more of the story just follow the links. Please join in next week by leaving a number between 0001 and 9999 in your comment below.
Do you have a favorite this week?
Love the shot of the Gemsbok. Bill is the sort of person we can imagine who keeps his cool in an emergency, so glad we got to meet him. Our favourite is also the Yarnell sunset. Hope you have a great weekend. Diane and Nigel
Oops forgot next week’s number, 603 please. D & N
Thanks. I saw Bill keep his cool in more than one car related emergency. #603 for next week.
how ’bout 2354 for next weeks foto Friday. I agree with your comments about virus’s.
#2354 for next week.
Hi Gaelyn, the monsoon over the Grand Canyon is beautiful. But the image of the Gemsbok drinking in the Kgalaghadi (our favorite park) really tugged at my heart. I’ve been ill for a week so 7000 will be a good number for next week. Have a great day. Jo
Thanks. I truly enjoyed Kgalaghadi and only with we’d had a 4×4 to explore it more. Hope you are feeling better. #7000 for next week.
It’s easy to see why you like Crazy Jug Point. For next week I’d like 1948, the year San Felipe’s Bar Miramar opened. Looking forward to our traditional safe arrival margarita tomorrow.
Cheers! #1948 for next week. Have fun.
Wonderful selection of photo’s here Gaelyn. I particularly like the view over Grand Canyon from Crazy Jug Point. Favourite is your last sunset photo taken from Berta’s house at Yarnell. spectacular !! No 7563 for next week please. Enjoy your weekend whatever you are doing.
Thanks. I thought you’d like that Grand Canyon shot. Just can’t miss with a good sunset. #7563 for next week.
I like the monsoon. When we lived beside the lake, I liked watching the storms come across the water. #2020
Thanks. Storm watching is exciting. I rather miss you living on the lake, but don’t miss all the stupidity of people you’d see there. #2020 for next week.
That last sunset shot is breathtaking
Thanks. I miss that place already.
Love the monsoon picture and the beautiful sunset in Yarnell. Is the house being sold and so you won’t be able to return? If so that’s very sad. I’ll try number 742 for next time for no reason at all.
Thanks. The house in Yarnell has sold. I no longer have a ‘place’ to return to. #742 for next week.
Oh, that last sunset from your friend Berta’s house got my heart and tear ducts all worked up!! <3 <3 <3 8*)
I would like to try a tiny number this time, may I have number 7 for next week? Thank you! 8*)
That sunset was taken from the same place as last year’s calendar cover. I miss the place and of course Berta too. #7 for next week.
That last shot is spectacular!! My number for next week is 1824. From the year of the Corrupt Bargain. I have been listening to an American History podcast lately.
Thanks. I miss those boulders. #1824 for next week.
As a teacher with a PA for a partner, I know I have a high likelihood of catching most viruses that come through the valley. I’m hoping to keep my parents away from the possibility though, and I’m glad to hear you’ve got a strategy. The Yarnell sunset is stunning! Number 9005 for next week, please
I fear you are right and exposed to lots more than I will be hiding out in the desert. Stay well. #9005 for this week.
The gemsbok(s?) and your beautiful sunset vie for my favorite , but “ours” brought some wry memories. We’ve been towed out of some crazy places in our years of exploring and on the road. …. it’s difficult to avoid peopley places where we are right now, so we are doing some heavy thinking .
Thanks. I call this passing the flat tire test.
