This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by seven readers including sky, rock, and life in a diversity of landscapes seen in South Africa and the American Southwest.
Diane and Nigel chose #2012. A place I’m sure they admire as much as I, or anyone else who has seen the Drakensburg Mountains in South Africa. In March 2010 I was fortunate enough to backpack into this rolling green landscape with my guide John, son to blog friend Jo.
Rita chose #6347. During my March 2015 visit to Joshua Tree National Park while camped at Jumbo Rocks campground I often walked in the boulders surrounding camp.
Yogi chose #1227. An unidentified spring flowering bush in Yarnell, Arizona. Feel free to chime in about what this is.
Jeff chose #1208, “the number of hours we will be hosting guests this Thanksgiving/Christmas season.” After I don’t know how many hours of riding around in Kruger National Park watching for wildlife it’s a treat to stop at a place like the Letaba Rest Camp to get out of the vehicle. During my first visit to South Africa in 2010 I was rather shocked to see this Bushbuck within only a few feet.
Jim and Diana chose #636, “the time of yesterday’s flawed Boeing Starliner launch.” This shot is from the first time I hiked Buckskin Gulch slot canyon in 2009. Definitely not a flawed launch for me.
Sallie and Bill chose #2020, a date we are quickly approaching. This shot was during a late afternoon approach for sunset at Badwater Basin in Death Valley National Park, California during my March, 2017 visit.
Lisa chose #2345. I ran away from the holidays in 2014 and ended up my first visit to Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, California. Due to cold temperatures and high winds I took a lot of photos through dirty camper windows like this one. I did get out to socialize with a few other RVers.
My choice taken Christmas Eve after a day of on and off rain with mostly gray skies. A brief patch of snow got me outside for this panorama taken near the front of my truck in North Ranch RV Park Congress, Arizona.
Thank you for playing along with Foto Friday Fun which allows me to share these photographs and memories. Please join in next week by leaving a number between 0001 and 9999 in your comment below.
Do you have a favorite this week?
My favorite is your Christmas Eve panorama, that rainbow is perfection! 8*)
I choose 1224 because that is the day I found out how well you keep a secret! Seems you and my Daughter, Deja, had my Christmas gift all set to go before I told her what I wanted!! hahaha!! How did I get so Lucky?!! <3 <3 <3 8*)
Thanks. The rainbow was a nice Christmas Eve gift. And hopefully as much a surprise as your calendar.
One of these days I want to go see Joshua Tree National Park and go hiking amongst the boulders. Preferably during weather when the snakes are not out and about.
My number next week is 6259.
It just snowed at Joshua Tree so might be the right time to visit. Way too hot in the summer. #6259 for next week.
Our photo has to be our favourite, just love the Drakensburg despite one time many years ago getting lost, but we got back in time for dinner!! Lots of memories there. We must say though that the slot canyons always take our eye they are just amazing.. A rainbow for Christmas is also very special. All the very best for 2020. Hugs from us both. Nigel and Diane 2712 for next week please.
Thanks. I am frequently jealous of Jo living near the Drakensburg. Sorry we didn’t get you into a slot canyon when you were here. Just have to come back. #2712 for next week.
Happy New Year!
We did go to Cathedral Gorge with Michael and Mary…….
I can’t pick a fave, as all tell interesting stories. Happy New Year, I hope all sorts itself out for you. #63
That’s a good thing. #63 for next week
Happy New Year!
Oh ERGHHHH. I posted a comment in a small column – some glitch with my laptop, I’m sure. It didn’t post! So here goes. My favourite is the rainbow over your camp on Christmas eve, I’m always fascinated how many times the pictures appear showing South African scenes you snapped. I am so blessed to be living in view of the majestic mountains (they’re my header photo at the moment), I choose 2003 for next week, Happy New Year to you all. Jo
You are blessed to see the Drakensburg in your backyard. #2003 for next week.
Happy New Year!
Green fields, slot canyons, jumbo rocks … all great photos!, but a rainbow is special. For next week I’d like 2924 as Clemson defeated Ohio State 29-4 to advance to the finals.
Thanks, rainbows are a special gift. #2924 for next week.
Hi Gaelyn, Love the shot of that dramatic sky and rolling green hills at Drakensburg Mountain South Africa, Favoutite this week is that fabulous rainbow at North Ranch RV Park. Hope all is going well with you. No 4987 for next week please.
Thanks. I want to return to those mountains. Can’t go wrong with a rainbow. Healing is good. Going to last PT this morning. #4987 for next week.
