This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by nine readers including many variations of the sun that can be seen around the world, but not a Rhino butt.
Diane and Nigel chose #2911. Hard to go wrong with a beautiful sunset. This shot over the San Ysidro Mountains from my camp in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, California 1-15-15, sadly an area no longer available for boondocking.
Tredeuce chose #9998. This time a sunrise while on safari in Pilanesberg Game Reserve, South Africa 4-1-14.
Jennifer chose #0063. I was fortunate enough to be at Grand Canyon for the 5-20-12 partial, or annular eclipse and most importantly had a filter for my camera to shoot what could be seen of this solar event. This is a phase of the moon exiting from over the sun. I put together a composite you can see at this ring of fire link.
Lisa chose #21. Spent vacation time with family in the early 1970s boating, skiing, and swimming at Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri.Rita chose #5938. Another sunset shot, this time setting into the Indian Ocean from Tsitsikamma National Park 2-25-14, South Africa.
Jodee and Bill chose #0328. Not much sunshine on this Rhino butt seen in Pilanesberg Game Reserve, South Africa 4-3-14. Because I saw a lot of animal butts on safari I wrote a post so animals walking away could be identified.
Yogi chose #313 with the help of random dot org. The only reason I have an arrowhead collection is help from friends who are flint knappers. I’ve never found one in the field and wouldn’t keep it if I did. So these are all reproductions by modern day skilled craftsmen.
Jeff chose #924, “as The Ohio State Buckeyes dominated Michigan today for their 924th win.” The cockscomb dominates the scenery along parts of SR89 in southern Utah and is a win in my opinion.
Sallie and Bill chose #0010. This is the moon entering over the sun during the same annular eclipse as above. Seriously, check out that link.
My first choice #0121 for the date I checked on your number choices and it fell on the setting annular eclipse as I looked through the trees.
And my second choice taken last Friday afternoon from my campsite looking up at the snowy Weaver Mountains. I am glad to be 2000 feet below Yarnell just the other side of those mountains.
Thank you for playing along with Foto Friday Fun which allows me to share these photographs and memories. Please join in next week by leaving a number between 1 and 9999 in your comment below.
Do you have a favorite this week?
Wow, so many beautiful lunar and solar images. I love the sunrise over Pilanesberg. And the lunar eclipse. I remember seeing it on your post in 2012. I wonder if I posted about it – we were in Tanzania then. I can’t believe I didn’t choose a number. Here goes mine 2711. Blessings Jo
Thanks. Not any really cool solar events happening any time soon where I live. 🙁 #2711 for next week.
I’m glad I checked out that composite image. It’s the clear winner from this week’s choices. The Weaver mountains are sure pretty from this angle, too. Number 444 for next week, please.
Thanks. I had a lot of fun putting that together. The Weaver Mts are pretty from all directions, it’s just that now I look at them from a different angle. #444 for next week.
Wonderful photos but I think ours is our favourite, hard to beat a good sunset at any time. Love the eclipses as well. Yes the campsite looking up at the Weaver mountains is also stunning. Cold wet and miserable here and it looks set in for at least the next week !! 612 for next week please. Keep well Diane and Nigel
Thanks. Seems strange to look at the Weaver Mts from the opposite side of Yarnell. Happily staying in the 60°sF here so far. #612 for next week.
Didn’t realize Yarnell was nearly 1,800 feet high up than Congress. Nearly 3,000 ft higher than Wickenburg, but I have never climbed up hwy-89, only down it usual from Jerome.
8998 for next week, Gaelyn
Way more likely to see snow in Yarnell than Congress or Wickenburg. And the curvy drive is similar to Jerome. SR/US89 is quite the historic drive. #8998 for next week.
I really love the first photo, although the rhino butt is quite remarkable.
Next week, lets see, 9419 for next week!!
Thanks. Joan laughed when I kept taking butt shots. #9419 for next week.
Wonderful photo’s again this week Gaelyn, Love the Lunar Eclipse, but my favourite is your Arrowhead collection even though they are reproduction. No 5l79 for next week please. enjoy your weekend..
Thanks. I thought you might like those arrowheads. #5179 for next week.
Your photos, your life, your journeys, are amazing. Thank you for sharing them all.
I hope you continue to heel.
#0056
Thank you. We all have amazing life stories to tell. I am healing just not 100% yet. #0056 for next week.
Your composite photos of the annular eclipse are awesome! We viewed the eclipse from Bryce! For next week I’d like 3421 as the #1 Ohio State Buckeyes win 34-21 over Wisconsin to claim the Big 10 title.
Thanks, that composite was fun to put together. #3421 for next week.
Such beautiful skies here and in the post above. I’ve never seen or heard of anything like that beautiful grin. No choice this week obviously cause I am so late, still getting caught up. I get slower every year.
Thanks. One of the reasons I like my home on wheels is the lack of unpacking.
