I took four days to coddiwomple about 400 miles on my slow ride from Cedar City, Utah to Congress, Arizona, and fit in some friend visits along the way.
My last day in Cedar City, I paid the KOA electric bill and the owner dumped the camper tanks for me as I still don’t have the strength or dexterity to hook up the sewer hose. Then off I went to my last PT and doctor visits.
The first time I’d driven in over a month and it felt good to be behind the wheel. I felt different after a 1 1/2 hour drive through the beautiful windy Virgin River Gorge and on to Mesquite, Nevada.
The truck just barely fit in Mary and Michael’s driveway and was easy to mostly level. They fed me, we chatted and I went to the camper about 8:30pm. They also fed me breakfast and sent leftovers.
The next day I hit the road around noon and in barely an hour was parked and somewhat level at Poverty Flats. I took a short walk with the small camera and phone. A man in a golf cart caught up with me and asked if I was Geogypsy. A lurker blog reader from Wyoming.
How I love the quiet and warm desert.
So much that I stayed an extra night instead of driving an hour to Boulder City. Good thing, as the free parking above the casino was closed.
Instead I made the 2 ½ hour slow ride to Kingman and visited with another friend. Thanks Terri.
For the next day rain was predicted all over the SW so I made a two hour run for it with a stop at Dazzos for Italian Beef for lunch.
By late afternoon I was parked at North Ranch in tiny space #74, on a corner, next to a birdy bush that could be some kind of Yucca.
I’m across the street from the Pickleball court.
And have a decent view west for sunset.
After several days of rain I went up the hill to Yarnell where I gave up my post office box and had lunch at Gilligans.
Now I’m set up with PT in Wickenburg three days a week for the next month. I am healing, slowly, and getting better every day.
Sounds like you are doing well. So glad that you went to Mesquite and stayed with M and M. I cannot believe that Micheal and I have known each other for over 60 years!! Take care and enjoy your travels. Hugs Diane and Nigel
They are such delightful people. Thank you for introducing us. Love his book.
Here’s hoping your Wickenburg PT experience is a positive one, Gaelyn. 😊
Me too. My therapist broke one wrist a year before me and has good mobility.
That’s encouraging! Welcome back to AZ. Hope your PT schedule will allow time to visit your friends in Q this winter.
Thanks, good to be in AZ. Q trip wouldn’t happen until January.
God bless and watch over you fair lady, hang in there it will get lots better, patience is the word. Wayne
Thanks for the well wishes.
Glad you were able to make some slow mileage without too much discomfort on your wrists.
Be Safe and Enjoy the Freedom.
It’s about time.
Thanks. It sure felt good to be on the road even if sore at the end of the drive. I’m not there yet but working on it.
Keep on keeping on. You seem to be enjoying your travels but I bet the driving and leveling and dealing with everything with the camper is hard. You are amazing.
Thanks. It’s not easy but I am determined.
Yucca_ The beautiful luminous white or pink glow of the Desert Candle Stick is a spectacular treat whether in the it’s natural environment or in urban landscaping.
The are 54 recognized different Yucca and a suspected well over 100 types. The Yucca, a member of the Asparagus family is pollinated at night by moths.
Glad you are Mobil and increasingly capable, Gaelyn.
We are waiting for a winter cyclone bomb to hit the southern Oregon Coast in a few hours with winds at hurricane strength at the coast and up to 60-mph in the western and Rogue valleys. I-5 passes are likely to be closed tonight. With the addition of recent fires the past few years, I-5 gets closed a lot.
I didn’t know Yucca is part of the Asparagus family.
I’m anticipating rain here starting tomorrow but hopefully no snow. Be safe.
Glad to hear you are doing well –and happy in Arizona —
Thanks. I am hoping the predicted rain doesn’t turn to snow at this low elevation.
As the saying goes “Keep on Truck’n”. Good to see you back on the road taking it slow. Hopefully after the next round of PT you can dump your tanks 🙂
The worse thing to ask for RV help, will you dump my shit.
Well done, Gaelyn. You have such good friends all over! People who will take you in.
We’re awfully sick with colds, and I sure wish we had angels like this.
Thanks. Sorry to hear your still sick, Sending virtual chicken soup your way.
Got my calendar today, Beautiful! Glad to hear your wrist continue to improve. Thanks for all your hard dork in the calendar and blog.
Thanks, glad you like it.
Nice to take one’s time when getting back on the road. Such a pretty drive through the SW. I imagine you’re getting some winter weather there in Congress so hope you’re tucked in warm and cozy!
Sure was nice to be on the road no matter how briefly. Just a little rain.
I do a lot of “coddiwomping” myself. Glad that you have helpful friends. Hugs.
A marvelous way to travel.
Glad you made it to Wickenburg and your wrists held up for the drive. Hope your experience with PT there moves you closer to full recovery. Enjoy your time in Wickenburg. Good luck with your PT.
Thanks. Getting better every day.
